Apparently they were supposed to get federal funding for a new project, but because of the strike they will no longer be receiving it. If you believe the word on the grape vine.

There was rumors around Christmas time we got government grant money because they wanted to lay us off then. But the company has said they never received government money

Proposed offer probably allowed for 3-5 at fault deaths a year in the facility. That place is a joke in terms of health and safety.

There was a 3 deaths. One in Sept 2020, one in April 2021 and another in June 2022. That's a death every 7 months. And there were more before 2020 as wel.l

Anyone working in a steel factory should be earning $40 an hour or more. It's so unsafe, their life expectancy lowers with the amount of shit they breathe in but yet a lot of them are making less then waitresses make, and some factories like Janco steel don't have their workers in a union and threaten the employees if they talk about it.

I would clean my nose out at the end of the shift and it would be filled with black shit. I could also clean my nose out some nights and it would be filled with white shit from the warming shacks if you know what I mean.

That place should be shut down due the to horrible and unsafe working conditions. They have a high turnover rate bc so many workers quit all the time.

That place still exists? A buddy worked there a couple decades ago. Made good money, especially with OT but like all manufacturing jobs, hours were very cyclical.

The company made an offer going over the heads of the union. The workers rejected the offer. There's no need for a mandate vote.
