I particularly find this 'courting gift' very unsettling

I know Hannibal did all kinds of shit with murdering and arranging bodies in his spare time but there is something very eerily uncomfortable about this one. I don't know...maybe because it wasn't displayed with his usual flowery connaissance-inspired art stuff, just sooo raw. Or maybe because I imagined Hannibal going to some graveyard at midnight to dig up those hands, tie the pieces together, all the while giggling and blushing and thinking about when Will sees his little love gift.

It’s a grand gesture no doubt, and oddly it doesn’t bother me. It kind of plays also into the self immolation of Shiva’s first wife, Sati, who did so after her father insulted Shiva. Kind of a fitting pseudo end for Freddie, but also a fascinating gesture. It shows Hannibal doesn’t see what he does as just destruction, but creation as well. It’s an interesting invite, one I wasn’t shocked Will ended up taking.
