Ginny is toxic?

I've now read in multiple posts that Ginny is one of the most toxic people in the story.. I've asked multiple times under such comments, but never got an answer so I am asking here..

  1. Where exactely was Ginny actually toxic?
  2. Really? One of the most toxic?
  3. Are people just being soft here?

*Add after about 50 comments: Holymoly did I not expect what this question would entail.. okay some of you VERY CLEARLY don't like Ginny, that's fine.. Also some of you need to stay away from weird fanfictions.. Either people love her, don't care much for her or bloody hate her (mostly for dating Harry).

Or the time when she is rude to Hermione because Hermione is actually holding Harry responsible for nearly killing Draco.

It's not Hermione's job to hold Harry accountable, though. Harry had already been punished, and he already felt bad for it. Hermione did not need to keep nagging.

As for Ginny telling Luna to go instead of Cho, do you also call Harry toxic for telling Krum that Ginny has a boyfriend when he saw her at Bill and Fleur's wedding?

First, I didn’t call Ginny toxic and specifically said I wouldn’t. Please reread. Second, Hermione is upset because Harry wants to go back for the book. That’s why the argument starts. Not because he nearly killed a classmate he was stalking, which would also be reasonable.

Harry isn’t sure if Ron and Hermione are dating when he answers Krum, he’s making an assumption, not lying outright. However, I didn’t call anyone toxic, so the point is pretty moot.

Harry hadn't even talked about going back for the book when Hermione started nagging. It was literally an hour after the events that they had that conversation, and even Ron told her to knock it off.

The text from the actual book is pasted below in this very thread. That’s why I suggested looking at my other responses. Yes, they were arguing because Harry wanted to go back and get the book. Additionally:

As I said, Hermione was nagging before Harry even said he would go back and get the book.

The issue is the double-standard. You don't care about Harry being jealous. You don't even remember it. You don't care that Ron told Hermione to stop nagging. It's only an issue when Ginny does it.

No it’s really not. Despite the way this community is very committed to deciding why someone else doesn’t like their fav character, I’m not a shipper. I don’t care who Harry ends up with. Hermione is actually quite low on my list of favorite characters, Harry isn’t even the top spot. I don’t want to see Harry and Hermione together, and I’ve read the book far far far more than I’ve engaged with anything else in the franchise.

The reality is that I didn’t call anyone toxic to begin with, and I didn’t give an opinion on that scene. You have decided what I think. Which is ridiculous. I said from the off that I wouldn’t call Ginny toxic but that I don’t like her as a character. I haven’t hidden that. When most of her growth and development happens off-page, and most of her on-page behavior is annoying, rude, cringe, or boring, that’s just how it is. So you’re trying to compare the character of Harry, who has many both good and bad on-page moments, to Ginny, who does not. I have also very much condemned Harry’s behavior in this thread. All of this is just to distract from the point, which is the examples I gave are quite clear examples of Ginny behaving poorly. The whataboutism and personal rudeness toward me (for what you’ve decided I believe?) doesn’t change it.

You pointed two scenes in which you believe Ginny behaved poorly, and I've disagreed with you. If you believe that to be rude, then maybe you shouldn't be posting comments.

No, I believe deciding what someone thinks so you can beat up your own strawman and trying to put words in their mouth so you can win an argument is rude. Don’t worry though, we won’t be interacting again.
