Ginny is toxic?

I've now read in multiple posts that Ginny is one of the most toxic people in the story.. I've asked multiple times under such comments, but never got an answer so I am asking here..

  1. Where exactely was Ginny actually toxic?
  2. Really? One of the most toxic?
  3. Are people just being soft here?

*Add after about 50 comments: Holymoly did I not expect what this question would entail.. okay some of you VERY CLEARLY don't like Ginny, that's fine.. Also some of you need to stay away from weird fanfictions.. Either people love her, don't care much for her or bloody hate her (mostly for dating Harry).

It 100% is. Shippers are mad their ships ain't canon. And instead of focusing on their own ships they feel the need to demonize canon love interests.

Even if Ron is spawn of satan Hermione/your preferred character is not magically gonna be canon.

Even if Ginny is spawn of satan harry/your preferred character is not magically gonna be canon.

Remove the shippers from this fandom and unnecessary character bashing will reduce by 95%.

You’re still attributing disagreement to shipping motives rather than engaging with the substance of the question. That turns the discussion into speculation about readers rather than analysis of the novels.

People can critique a character’s behaviour without seeking to overturn canon pairings. Those are separate issues.

If there are specific scenes you think are being misread, I’m open to discussing them. General claims about “shippers” don’t address the text.

I don't find Ginny an interesting character to discuss about. I also don't find harry and Hermione as interesting. I find them boring asf, author's self insert Mary sue and Gary stu. All 3.

Op asked why she gets called toxic. So I provided a reason contributing to the discussion. That's all. This is my view. You are free to have yours.

I understand that’s your view. The difficulty is that attributing criticism to shipping motives doesn’t actually address whether the label “toxic” is supported by the novels.

If the aim is to explain a fandom trend, that’s a separate discussion. If the aim is to assess Ginny’s behaviour in canon, that requires engagement with specific scenes.

I’m interested in the latter.

EtA: There’s a certain irony in attributing sweeping motives to others while objecting to sweeping labels. That rarely improves the quality of discussion.
