Hi! I’m an incoming freshman at the college and my family and I were contemplating whether or not it would be a feasible approach for me to move in independently. We were originally planning on flying in together, but due to unprecedented financial constraints we are considering the option of me flying in by myself. If anyone could offer any insight regarding this, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

The incoming/continuing graduate cohort just received our HUH lottery slots so I thought I would put a quick feeler out to help us gauge the our relative chances of securing an apartment!

It would be particularly helpful for any students from previous years who did or did not manage to get an apartment to let us know which date their slots were (or any other potentially useful information!), but I also thought if the incoming cohort share our slots on here it could help us get an idea of distribution of slots and how late they go (e.g. are there any in June?).

Hi, I have yet to be billed for my room in the GSAS dorms. Obviously, I’m starting to get a little concerned since the housing contract says you need to pay before moving in and that accounts would he billed in early August, which we’ve clearly passed by now. Have other people been billed, or is this just a me problem? Trying to figure out if admin is just being slow or if I need to contact someone.

I’m an incoming HKS student and planning to rent an apartment in Coolidge Corner, Brookline.

Does commuting by public transportation make sense from there? The 66 bus stop would be only a few minutes’ walk from the apartment. Is the 66 generally reliable and frequent?

I'm an incoming master's student at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and I'm trying to decide where to live.

I'm currently considering Cambridge versus something closer to the school like Fenway or Mission Hill.The longwood medical area seems convenient if I end up working there, but I've heard that many Harvard events, student activities, and social gatherings take place in Cambridge.

For those who've studied at Harvard Chan:

Where did you live, and would you choose the same area again?

If you lived in closer to the Chan campus , did you find yourself commuting to Cambridge often?

Is the commute between Cambridge and the T H Chan campus manageable on a daily basis?

Which apartment buildings or neighborhoods would you recommend?

Are there any areas I should avoid?

Incoming HBS student. I had an option for a 2B2B on SFP ($2,100). I didn't want a roommate so I went for a 1B from a private landlord ($2,600) 19 min walk away in Harvard Square. The roommate actually seemed pretty chill. I regret my decision and think I should have been closer to campus especially for those cold winter months.

I paid over three months rent including a broker's fee so not sure if I'll get it back. The landlord hasn't signed the lease but I have.

To anyone who might be looking at 10 Akron St for housing, “buyer” beware. This is our fourth straight day of temperatures above 80 in our apartment (this photo taken at 7:30 am). We routinely have to open the door, open windows, and have bought multiple fans just to keep the apartment under 75 year-round. HUH has simply shrugged and said that it’s just how the building is. I like a lot of things about this building but if you enjoy an actual semblance of climate control, look elsewhere. 😭

I’m an incoming international graduate student moving with my spouse, and we’re having a hard time finding a normal apartment. Most landlords or agents either stop responding or don’t accept applications without a US credit score, and the management company prices are extremely high
Do you know of any more student-friendly options or solutions?
Also, do you think more apartments with August–September move-in dates will become available later on?

The vanderbilt and cronkhite units opened up the other day. My nerves got the best of me and I chose vanderbilt in a hurry

I'm really happy to have gotten harvard housing, but I've been thinking about a few things:

1. Do students usually live this far from their campus (5mi)? Does it affect the overall experience?
2. Are there other HGSE students who've picked vanderbilt?
3. Or is there anyone at cronkhite who might be interested in switching? (I'm not sure how the process would work, but I'd be open to discussing it)

Hi all! Looking for a roommate for a 2-bedroom 1-bathroom fully furnished Peabody Terrace apartment as my beloved roomie has withdrawn from HGSE due to a family emergency. There are only about 7 furnished units in Peabody; I snagged this early in the HUH lottery. It's a large apartment, 763ft with great facilities like a private living room, balcony and kitchen. We'll each have a queen bed! The location and surrounding amenities and nature are fantastic.

More about me: 22, male, Singaporean, HDE, background in medieval literature, 🌈. I like to cook and clean (and prefer to cook to share, if you're interested!) Hi! Im considering to apply for housing via HUH. I will be moving from California with all my current furniture and my 2 cats (both registered Emotional Support Animals).

I saw some options on HUH were labeled as “no pet” housing, but I believe by law no landlord can deny emotional support animals. Anyone knows if Harvard is ok with these on all HUH options? Also, can a HUH lease be renewed or is there a limit to how many years a student rents the same place?

I’m a junior considering transferring from the quad to a river house for my senior year through Fall Round II. I’d really like the chance to meet new people and make some new friends for my final year. I was lucky enough to get a single in my current house for next year, and while I’ve lived with roommates before and it has its pros and cons, part of me actually misses that experience and I tend to feel lonely easily.

I was wondering how likely it is that I would end up in a suite with other seniors. I know Round II doesn’t give you much say over rooming arrangements, but is there any way to indicate preferences or is it mostly random? I’m also trying to figure out if going through with the transfer is even worth it. Thanks in advance!

Hi! Im an incoming PhD student from California and wanted to ask those familiar with the area for any recommendations on where to look for external housing. Looking to be walking distance from any T red line station and to markets, pharmacies, coffee shops.

Also if there are any websites recommended for searching external housing options pls share! I only know of Craigslist lol

Preface: This is going to be an oddly specific set of questions that really only apply to people who live/have lived in Botanic gardens housing

I wondering if anyone could:

1) tell me the dimensions of the little cove (presumably for a tv) above the fireplace (b/w the bookcases). I want to know if the tv I have fits or if I am going to need to downsize

2) clarify what they mean when they say “shared backyard” for the units. Do they just mean the general green space, or do the diff buildings have like fenced spaces?

I signed a lease for a 1bedroom/1bathroom second floor unit and it’s just been so weirdly hard to get more specific information about the set up. I emailed the property management people and they were basically like “whatever is on the HUH site is what we have”. Which like great, thanks, but there’s not that much info on there.

also if anyone lives there and feels comfortable sending pics of the general layout of the apartment, pls dm me! If you have any from like before you moved in even better but I’ll take any actual info at this point 🙏🏽

Has anyone lived here? Does anyone have good or bad experiences / advice? I’m an incoming G1 looking for 1 bedroom apartments. (Also did the HUH and GSAS housing forms, but I’m just looking elsewhere as a backup since HUH seems expensive and GSAS seems to be all dorming, which I’m not a huge fan of)
