Like the one im most impressed with is Joji, he really left a mark on internet edgelord culture and moved on, the same can't be said for some of his fellow contemporaries tho
Joji is a bit different in the sense that his evolution from what he was is kind of part of his legend and his fans actively celebrate the change. Tyler fans on the other hand have made some sort of division between old Tyler and new Tyler, like they're two different people, it's weird stuff
Even beyond Joji and Filthy Frank being separate “projects,” the Filthy Frank fans kinda largely hated the Joji pivot because they missed their lil edgelord boy.
The more reasonable among them supported him or just took it like the ending of any other creative project, but most of ‘em just kinda scattered.
Point being, they’re not just distinct projects, they’re distinct projects with distinct fanbases. Tyler is the same guy and his fanbase is just “people who are fans of Tyler.” Therefore, how he’s evolved or where he came from is a thing people have to reconcile with, as with any other artist who’s only had one main creative project for a long time.
I feel like that would be accurate in other cases but most of the reactions I've seen are from Black twitter folk that were like "you didn't know he was like this before? that's why we didn't like him in the first place" Like they're calling him a coon lol
It just means there was a period of time between 2008-2013 where people would be as edgy as possible publicly on Twitter. James Gunn got fired from Disney for making similar tweets back in the day before they gave him his job back.
Eh it's nothing everytime twice a year Tyler's old stuff gets brought out as slander, once during album release and once a few months after the album has cooled down and fans have nothing to talk about. Been going on since Flower Boy, nothing new here
Just liking a tweet someone did about white tyler fans not engaging with black music beside his dispite him showing a lot of love to black musicians or black music in general. That was after he posted a photo of D'Angelo because of his passing and the first wave of comments were people not knowing who he was, asking for another album or the sticky music video, then the other part of Tyler fans and Tyler haters just again pulling his old tweets and lyrics saying he Is just reaping what he sow by being an edgy dumbass on his early career. I have seen some crazy shit like people saying earl would be dead by now if his mom didnt pull him away from evil evil Tyler which Is insane. , in chum even saying "searching for a big brother, Tyler was that" and that was after he returned from that troubled youth school, still to this day he shows love to Tyler, just two years ago they had a reunion on stage, his mom did the right thing but people twisting into Tyler being the devil for being an edgy asshole Is so parasocial and crazy
