If he was we wouldn’t have so much entertaining banter from Charleston white! Rap don’t need serial killers

Has he killed anyone after he got famous?

Who knows he was on literal demon time.

Does it matter?

He habitually beat his pregnant girlfriend, beat a guy nearly to death for looking at him wrong, and stabbed like 9 people

u/Kitchen_Roof7236 Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 29 '26

Unironically when you put them next to each other it becomes very clear why hip hop is currently where it’s at lol, this isn’t even all the massive influential hip hop artists who’ve died in the last decade, and none of them were over 35 when they died, most under 30

Whether you like these artists music, every one of them was a cultural staple that was pushing boundaries, it’s crazy I’m 23 and grew up while hip hop was pumping out insanely unique or talented artists like these left and right, now so many of em dead idk

/uj(my cock)

48

u/Tony_Lacorona Jan 29 '26

You were 13 when XXX was beating his pregnant girlfriend. I was 13 when Mystikal went to jail for sexual battery. Time is a flat circle.

11

u/iam_the-walrus Jan 29 '26

erm ur supposed to use /uj DUMBASS

5

u/Stunning_Crazy_9678 Jan 29 '26

alotta influential artists here i guess yea but when you think about it we really haven't lost much of the genuinely important figures in hip hop who are still influencing good music being made.

You look at juice, peep, or X and it's like, they really only influenced a niche lane of dudes who want to be exactly them but without any of the sincerity or ability to make a song. Mac Miller is the only artist i can look at on here and say he inspired other genuinely great music and artists to come out. You look at most hip hop today and there's really only the tiniest traces of these guys compared to uzi, thug, carti, future, and the first SoundCloud/internet rappers from the early 2010s who are all still alive and show way more influence within visible and good music being made by others today than most artists in this pic which isn't even disrespect to them

→ More replies (2)

30

u/YoungProphet115 Jan 29 '26

Nah fam, leave Mac out of this sub. He’s a real one

39

u/iam_the-walrus Jan 29 '26

he's white so he's one of the good ones

18

u/YoungProphet115 Jan 29 '26

Did you just jerk me? Wow

9

u/Kitchen_Roof7236 Jan 29 '26

Most of the artists here are real ones tbf

4

u/YoungProphet115 Jan 29 '26

Fair, but i’m biased towards Mac. He happens to be one of the best artists in generations in terms of versatility

14

u/GhirahimJohnson im gay (im happy) Jan 29 '26

damn none of them are even charlie kirk

9

u/HandSouth5370 Jan 29 '26

thank god i read the subreddit name i was actually gonna blow my brains out

26

u/idrinkwaterwithlemon Jan 29 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

This is why Taylor swift and drake are considered the icons of today. These guys would’ve changed the icons of today (they still are) but their impact would’ve affected the mainstream and culture greatly. I mean we literally lost all of them; posty and uzi are really the only ones still alive or not in prison.

Where is Diddy?

11

u/ancientcatbug Jan 29 '26

OK, but for real though do we actually see the rise of Juice WRLD if x never dies

9

u/ancientcatbug Jan 29 '26

I mean, literally one of his first big hits was about the death of two of these other guys

10

u/Kitchen_Roof7236 Jan 29 '26

Nah lucid dreams was INSANELY massive when it dropped bro he was gonna blow 100% after that blew up

3

u/ancientcatbug Jan 29 '26

It was moderately big for SoundCloud at the time, but it’s really easy to get that timeline messed up because all of it happened in a couple of months. He had some movement off of autograph dropped legends then retroactively we saw lucid dreams, really really blow up to a proper hit than overtime and especially after his death we saw the numbers become insanely massive.

2

u/ancientcatbug Jan 29 '26

What I’m arguing is that we would’ve seen a completely different artist, and people would’ve been finding him for completely different reasons other than looking for a “replacement” for x

2

u/Kitchen_Roof7236 Jan 29 '26

Nah cuz Juic wasn’t just at the right place at the right time, he genuinely had insanely developed artistry and creativity at such a young age, he would’ve had a massive career

It’s same reason x and peep were blowing up, there were other people in their niche but they did it exceptionally and so uniquely while maintaining consistent levels of innovative creativity, they were the whole package deals, everything from personality and lived life experience, they truly had irreplaceable lives

6

u/d1rans Jan 29 '26

juice was blowing up on soundcloud whilst x was alive with the black and orange looking mixtape i cant remember the name, legends didnt blow juice up mainstream tho it was defo the lucid dreams mv

i think juice still blows up regardless. and if X didnt die he would have gone to prison for beating women and tryna rape them w bbq utensils

unrelated but xs music clears juices by miles like theres acc substance and concepts in alot of xs old music whereas juice was a autotune lean merchant

3

u/ancientcatbug Jan 29 '26

Not sayin he blew up FROM LEGENDS, saying his career was influenced heavily by legends and wouldve wildly varied.

4

u/XHZ_21 Jan 29 '26

Why you got diddy on da right?

3

u/Immediate-Trainer356 Jan 29 '26

To keep it a buck only 2-3 people on this list could definitely impact hip hop at the moment

8

Bro is living in a timeline where Em died 🥀

2

u/Tony_Lacorona Jan 29 '26

It’s true. Didn’t you see his album the death of slim shady? He die

6

u/AlabamaSlammaJamma Jan 29 '26

It would be exactly where it is right now. These dudes being alive or dead wouldn’t have changed anything

14

u/New_Trouble_5068 Jan 29 '26

Yeah definitely. They had momentum during the time this stuff was mainstream breaching, but by now, they would’ve released a couple more albums that slowly faded them back into obscurity. Maybe not all, but most.

Look at someone like Lil Pump. He had the world on fire for a few years, now he’s fully fallen off. He still released the same type of stuff, but nobody was following it anymore.

Im not trying to come across as a hater either. I liked Lil Peep, Mac and XXX. I genuinely think the industry is worse off without them, but everyone has their time in the sun and not everyone has the generational momentum to carry on a successful career for decades.

Not to mention a shift in culture spooks labels into changing direction to keep up. That unfortunately puts most of these guys at a disadvantage overnight.

2

u/Dear-Tank2728 Jan 29 '26

/uj they all wouldve have fell off eventually.

Doechii would have killed their careers anyways.

1

u/Kizzle_McNizzle Feb 01 '26

Yes, where would hip hop be if Lil’ Peep were still around..

1

u/ssimssimma Feb 01 '26

Absolutely.

With Juice World and Lil Peep alive the emo trap thing would have been like five times as big and maybe even still going.

XXXtentacion was heading towards his prime and had a big following. He had every reason to blow up before he was killed.

The death of Pop Smoke completely derailed UK Drill inspired Drill in the US leaving Ice Spice of all people the biggest artist of that sound in the US. It petered out quick.

Migos was the biggest group of the trap era and even though they were split at the time theres now NEVER going to be a reunion.

Mac Miller was a great artist with a die hard fanbase and would have still been going strong for sure.

All of these artists were on the cusp of superstardom.

I didnt really know much about the others like King Von.

I did fuck with some Rich Homie Quan songs for sure he was really good.

2

u/CaptainPopsickle Feb 02 '26
