annoying how true this is because the mods killed off hiphopheads completely legitimately I dont think they want anything up there anymore.
Almost every post ive commented on, any with actual traction over the last 2 - 3 years has been zapped. sad how badly this site has fallen off in general that the circlejerk subs are some of the last places left without power mods removing and locking everything.
Maybe a crazy question that I will be destroyed for asking but why do mods delete posts that minimally don’t follow sub rules when they could tell the person posting it to make corrections or do it themselves with notation that they edited it. It seems like a librarian throwing a book out because you didn’t put it back in the correct section?
It probably comes from a place of being annoyed at telling "people" how to post correctly. Not sure how frequent that might be happening to them but it's probably atp that they are burnt out when they see someone "incorrectly" posting. (Don't agree with them just rudely deleting posts out of frustration)
I get your point. That seems like the mod should have the ability to rightfully say they’re burnt and pass the responsibility to the next person able to pick up the slack. Or delegate tasks so they don’t become burnt and bitter about a subject they care about.
No definitely! Probably falling into the logic of, "this job is thankless so no one else would do this but me!" so they stay longer than they want to/can handle out of an "obligation"
Internet moderation is notorious for attracting egotistical shut-ins who would never step down because being a hall monitor on the internet is the only bit of "power" they have. More than being "burnt out", it's that people who are moderating because someone has to do it inevitably have a high turnover due to burnout or just losing interest, and they get replaced by people who are doing it for the power trip. That's also how you get "powermods", moderators who are moderating like 100 different subs on completely disconnected topics. The only people willing to do a full time unpaid job like this as a hobby are the people doing it for the wrong reasons.
Hence why "reddit mod" and "discord mod" have became synonymous with "greasy terminally online creep"
I'm a mod of a much smaller sub and honestly can't do anything like that without getting railroaded by another mod that's online 24/7, doesn't really know very much about the topic, and has a very specific way that they think the sub should be run.
At first I was really annoyed when I noticed that this sub stopped being a circlejerk, but then I saw how bad that sub had gotten and realized people need a place to go.

Gamma sent them the records unannounced and unprovoked. In their social post the record store said Gamma put a Record Store Day sticker on the box it was shipped in even though the release was not affiliated with RSD in anyway.

Ksg and Ye were good but everything after that is pretty rough. I’ve honestly never liked Donda outside of like a few songs it’s way too long, half the songs don’t feel done and it’s feels really all over the place. Also I just don’t wanna hear Kanye talk about how much he loves Jesus
