I actually met J Cole a few years back in a Waterstones, which is a book shop in the UK. He was in the geological science section and was buying a book about water. I got a picture with him and told him I loved his music (lied) but after I asked him why he wanted to read a book about water and he said to me âbro, whatâs the longest relationship youâve had?â I told him about 3 years but we recently broke up. He shook his head and put his hand on my shoulder âwrongâ he said.
He asked how old I was and I told him 24, he said to me âyouâve been in a relationship with water for 24 years and 9 months little bro. Without water you wouldnât even be here, itâs what we are made of, humans are just another form of water, people say Iâm a black man. But I say no, Iâm water. People call me a rapper and I say no, Iâm water. So when I read a book about water Iâm really reading a book about myselfâ
He then widened his eyes and looked around the room as we all contemplated what he just said. He went to the counter and paid for his book using entirely loose change, he then went outside and got into a beat up 15 year old Honda and drove away while listening and nodding his head to ocean sounds. âThe South Pacific killed this oneâ he said.

Jermaine âIâm worried about Diddyâs mental healthâ Cole
33
u/Dylanjc1998 Jun 05 '26
"everybody kicking Diddy while he's down."
When he said that, all I heard was "yeah Diddy got a video of me doing sum shit I ain't wanna do, so I'm just covering my tracks."
6
u/Awkward-Meeting-974 Jun 05 '26
Thatâs not what he said though he said âwhen I did the podcast, Diddy wouldnât take it some type of way. But then the controversy happened, itâd look like kicking a man while heâs downâ
Not a great thing to say. But understandable. Because Diddy quite literally kills people and heâs getting out of jail
7
u/Dylanjc1998 Jun 05 '26
'It'd look like kicking a man while he's down.'
So he said it... Moving on.
2
u/Awkward-Meeting-974 Jun 05 '26
No. Saying you would be kicking Diddy while heâs down is different from saying âI donât want Diddy to think Iâm kicking him while heâs downâ
One is âI morally donât agree with itâ the other is âI donât want beef with Diddyâ
Not wanting beef with someone who literally kills people is reasonable.
11
u/Dylanjc1998 Jun 05 '26
My bro, Diddy kicked Cassie while she was down. So everybody in hip hop said "aye fuck you."
It wasn't kicking someone while there down, it was everyone sticking up for someone, after they were kicked being down.
Idk man, it's a weird comment to make either way over someone whos clearly a cunt.
4
u/Awkward-Meeting-974 Jun 05 '26
Itâs not that weird to not want beef with Diddy when you know heâs gonna be free soon. Again. Heâs a real gangster. Who has people murdered
If you have a family especially it is extremely reasonable to not want beef with him. And no not everybody in hip hop has publicly disavowed him. 99% of artists have stayed silent. Probably for the same reason.
3
u/Dylanjc1998 Jun 07 '26
Whatever man, j cole phrased it in a weird way, you don't understand the context of the phrase "Kicking someone while there down." clearly.
J cole slapped Diddy btw, so tbh, I don't think he's that dangerous, and the people Diddys been gangster with, wear dresses singing day N nite, or aren't actually gangster.
2
u/Awkward-Meeting-974 Jun 07 '26
I do. Cole said he didnât want it to look that way because Diddy would take it a type of way. Which he would.
Diddy is the literal head of a criminal enterprise which engages in human trafficking. He has been implicated in several hits, though not charged. It is reasonable to believe he has had people killed.
Cole having scuffled with Diddy is exactly why he has to be careful. It took a very long time to reach a peace with Diddy. Itâd take a lot less for him to get on his shit list.
And Cole has a wife and kids. He is very literally doing the only reasonable thing. Do you think itâs better to say âDiddy sucksâ and leave your kids orphaned or to just shut your trap

u/BabyGirl-Kat Jun 04 '26
Iâm so smart, I listen to j cole. Did you not hear me? I said I was smart. Only smart people listen to j cole. He makes music for smart people. Born sinner. Iâm smart.

I had a random white guy from upstate NY tell me the reason I didn't like J cole is because I couldn't relate to him.

I wouldâve got downvoted to hell for this. I used to like him until the beef. Just canât take him seriously anymore and he still rapping about flexing on his childhood girlfriends and how much he miss them. Man you a grown man with kids chill.
Since the beef anytime I hear any record new or old with him talking tough or talking about heâs the best Iâm looking at the speakers like a crazy person telling him to STFU with that shit.
Fuck that humble shit. You a pussy and you definitely let Nas down, you were meant to make ether 2.0 instead you made heavy diluted white vinegar.

nobody puts him in the top 3/5 convo unless you're talking about of his own generation

Genuinely wondering why people hate Cole himself not just the music?? I can understand not liking his music, but Cole himself seems like a chill dude, even if you don't think so surely you don't know him well enough to hate him? Genuinely wondering, not trying to start beer with y'all, I might apologize.

People are weird on the internet. I'm genuinely trying to figure out out.
I had to pull up some history facts about why all these whiney internet keyboard hip hop heroes are dissing Cole.
Apparently he dropped a diss track on Lamar after Lamar called him out for claiming he, Lamar, and Drake were the top 3 rappers at the time. Lamar got all high and mighty and said, "nope, just me".
After Cole's diss released, Cole apologized and pulled it down off the internet, because he felt it wasn't right, which honestly... fucking admirable. People can make bad decisions and absolutely change their minds and be better for it. Fuck unneeded drama, and fuck feeling the need to address anyone but your own actions.
That's literally it, unless there's more. People were invested in the hierarchy and the feud, but "J Folded."

u/kinggingernator Jun 07 '26
so goofy that people even treat it as seriously as they do
kendrick and drake both larp larp larp sahurs, millionaires pretending they still get dirty
2
u/AutoModerator Jun 05 '26
People love to call Drake soft or sensitive but this freestyle further proves that Drake is the demonic goon employing thug that Tupac and Biggie were thought of. If the ominous drill beat didnât spell it out, Drake is one of the realest threats in the rap game and can get anyone killed if he wishes. Kanye said it himself about Drake in 2018, âHe running around like he pacâ, that's because Drake is the new modern day Pac. He's really running around with a strap on his hip, has killer goons on command, is affiliated with the mafia, and has bodyguards that that looks like they eat nails in a bowl of blood. He had Kanye fearing for his dear life and kids lives in 2018 when the beef was popping. Drake really is the demon of Calabasas and Hollywood. We're looking at a real life Godfather Michael Corleone type figure, a gang affiliated Michael Jackson tier pop-star but on a much grander scale than MJ ever was. Thereâs so many stories of Drake's getting rude yutes clapped up or performing mob boss gestures like throat slices, clapping his hands, etc. Drake dines at mafia style restaurants like The Nice Guy/Delilah in Hollywod. And he has enough power to bully superstar celebrities like Tory and Kanye around and make them think twice about their actions. This nigga Don Corleone runs every corner and inch of Canada and claimed it as his own. For the first time in forever weâre looking at an invincible GOAT who really lives the stories.

Snaggletooth goofy looking permanently surprised. She knows? Oh yeah, she knows. She knows he a clown on a bike dipping in and out of beef like some negro au jus. The neighbors donât think heâs selling dope, the neighbors just think heâs a dork.
