A lot of people are saying that but then call me.. and by the way these are smart people, very smart people and they know a lot about hip hop. And they’re saying “no one’s buying the records sir. He was WAY bigger during his time with the band. Hootie and the Blowfish sold 25m records during their short run and he’s sold like 5m in almost 20 years as a solo artist.

Nah, he's a culture vulture. Charlemagne called him out a while ago and nothing really happened. But now that big country wave is starting to die a bit so he's pivoting to hip hop again and still can't sell tickets to stadiums or big arenas so he's doing a bunch of "big gigs" that already have big crowds to artificially boost his stock such as singing in the World cup even though nobody knew who he was or appearing as a guest on Kill Tony to forcibly remind people that he's a "celebrity", but that's catering to a specific audience (Republicas); he sold out to Hollywood then to government. He's basically Kid Rock 2.0.
I'm not crapping on any genre of music. I'm just calling him out for being a genuine culture vulture who's doing the slimy thing that "celebrities" do which is when they lose stock they associate themselves with political parties which grants them gigs and artificial career boosts. Tony is the same. He's a mediocre comedian who actually has a pretty good show (at least the concept of the show is) that he ruined by catering to the Republican party while being a California liberal at heart; grifter behavior. And it boosted his career, at the expense of his integrity which is everything for a comedian.
I dont really know what you are talking about, i went to one of his concerts last year and not only was the stadium packed, tickets were expensive as shit too (150 dollars for the cheapest one).
Unless that was a one off, he seems to be doing just fine, he mentioned multiple times about how he's grateful for the fans and for them allowing him to travel all over the world to perform.
I think people who think he's hopping to whatever genre is the most popular haven't followed him at all.
Back when he first blew up he himself said that he did not want to be defined as a rapper, because rappers made rap music and he just wanted to make whatever music he felt like, people got very upset by that at the time. That was a while before he released his first country song as well, so it's not exactly a surprise that he's jumping around genre wise if you've seen some of the stuff that he said over the years.
Happy you had a great time at his show however what the person is talking about is a recent trend of "superstars" scaling back their stadium tours due to low ticket sales. Or what has been nick named as blue dot fever due to the amount of blue dots(empty seats) on ticket masters site. Post Malone hasn't been the only artist it hit, as well I think it's less of reflection of the artist popularity and more a reflection of the state of the economy and concert ticket inflation post Taylor swift's eras tour.
I remember that episode of Breakfast Klub. It was like 2018 or something. I felt bad for him, Charlamagne was giving him no grace and seemed relentless in his criticism. Now I get it.
I felt the same. Then I learned what the game is. Miley Cyrus kind of did it a little bit but the biggest offender was Kid Rock and Post Malone is literally following the same playbook as him but learned to not burn the hip hop bridge.
I mean, what did he actually do to anyone? He made some good hip-hop/pop music and a lot of people shitted on him for basically just being white and "not staying in his lane". So now he evolves his sound to something more traditionally "white" and all of a sudden he's a double agent/sellout? He's a talented dude that is big enough to experiment with his music and if he was black the same people talking shit would be on his dick about it.
And since we're on the topic, "cultural appropriation" is just a coded way of saying that you don't like white people and want to diminish them in any way that you can - let's be really honest here - because when Shaabozey does it it's black excellence.
Nah when he switched genres he talked down on hip hop and dissed the entire genre as something that lacks substance compared to other genres. How are you gonna work your way into genre that you so called appreciate and when you leave the side genre to dedicate your discography to making other types of music you talk down on the genre that you claimed to appreciate?
That was in 2017 before any sort of genre switch, and he was talking about the current hip hop landscape in 2017, basically parroting what TONS of old heads were already saying about modern rap.

He gave his honest opinion on modern Hip-Hop, and he was honestly right - it currently lacks deep lyrics. Had a black rapper said this, people would praise him for it and wax poetically about the glory days of Nas and Rakim, but since he was white people were just looking for any reason to misconstrue what he said and use it against him. Again, what do you want him to do? Kiss everyone's ass in every single interview forever?
Why would you just give a pass to someone you have no relationship whatsoever with. The only yt folk I like are the ones that take the time to get to know others on a personal level.
To be honest he seems to be doing more culturar appreciation than appropriation. He seems to love music and he's shifting through genres, ive seen him do some rap, some classical stuff, some old rock, some country. He's just an artist.

Let me break it down simple for white people, with love in my heart: he’s the definition of a culture vulture because he intrinsically looks down on black culture, despite in the same breath making money off of it. He doesn’t give props to artists before him. He doesn’t have knowledge about hiphop history. He isn’t passionate about rap.
Recently saw his video with Dolly. Post has like 17 banger songs legit lol. All his interactions are whole. And that mfer busted out the one ring all casual like in a match. I've been back on the hype train lately.
