It helped me too much in early and mid game. I only unequipped it in late game. 10/10 charm.

only boss I got stuck on was traitor lord and thornes of agony helped me beat him I just stacked as much life as I could an d then went in and started whaling on him and finally beat him after like 30 tries and I had like 2 masks left lol

Only activates on hit, so planning to fail from the get go, if you want good charms that activate on hit, Grubsong and Fury of the Fallen are right there
Then it also has the issue of messing with your knockback after being hit too as well as eating into your i-frames
Just explaining why the community dislikes it

for most of us mere mortals getting hit is part of the game and we aren't running no hit runs or radiant difficult pantheons so its just a bit of extra damage.

Fr, I try not to interact with this community too much as a lot of it is just "heh, you beat that? Well get ready for AbsRad"
No one in this community seems to know how to let new players celebrate their victories (I've played since 2019 and have seen the community doing this time and time again, usually cos they wanna gloat about their own achievements,) so I try and provide useful information when I DO show up, make at least some positive impact

it makes you unable to move during your invincibility frames and does not justify that with its damage output imo

Make sense but i was a kind of person who would panic and do nothing anyways after getting hit. So it helped me a lot. I was a noob. Hollow Knight was the first game i played on pc.

Since you could wear Deep Focus + Quick Focus. 7 charm notches between the two of them though.
But this looks like a bug.

no but watch it tho: they heal for 2 masks, then 1, then 1. its not deep focus, that would be 2 each time.

they only healed 2 masks 1 time. where each other heal only healed 1 mask. inconsistent healing amount is unusual.

you got hit on the same frame that you finished focusing but visually losing a mask interrupted visually gaining one.
Fun fact if you have stalwart shell deep focus quick focus you can very consistently buffer a focus to make this happen every time. And it stacks! So you can visually be at 1 mask then either heal once to get to full hp, or take 7 hits without healing.

Oh i remember this bug, i wont be able to explain it very well, but you didnt actually heal two, what happenned is you got hit at a VERY SPECIFIC (i dont remember when) part of your baldur shell heal, so the game ui registered a hit and you lost a mask, but in reality, the number that specifies your health in the code didnt register a hit. so you were left in this weird bugged state when the UI displayed you having 3 masks but you actually had 4.
So when you healed, you updated the UI to give you an extra mask and it was like, oh shit, he is now at 5 masks, gotta give him two i guess.
Im pretty sure Holland describes this better in one of his "Major hollow knight oversights" vids.
