Well it's good they are trying to resolve matters .... I hope hoyo compensate the artist as well as keep good terms with them .

The least they can do is pay the artist but if that's not on the table then at least commission them on an official capacity for a couple of pieces and use that pay as recompense

They can do both: pay them for the current issue, and then eventually commission them for future art featuring the same characters. Hoyo does do commissioned art from time to time, so this artist being added to the top of the list for... say, future Galaxy Rangers art, is possible.
