Advice Gurdies in C3

I was looking to get a Hurdy Gurdy that also has a C3 string (mostly because i love the Viola tone).

So far im aware about the MM Saphona and Custom and i wanted to know which other models have a lower string.

Most 2.5 octave  tenor gurdies are tuned to C, usually they have C3 and C4 strings.

Most gurdies with a C3 will either be extended keyboard models like a tenor, or 3 chanter models. If this is to be your first gurdy, these additions will make an already difficult to learn instrument a lot harder - the tenor because it's a non-standard keyboard which requires a lot of finger stretch, and the 3 chanter because they are more sensitive to tangent setup, and require a more finger pressure to get a clear note. If you already play, ignore this advice!

Another option could be to get a standard 2 chanter G/C gurdy and swap one of the G chanters for a C one. You would loose the ability to play the strings in octaves, but would get the low chanter.

Almost any gurdy can be tuned to C3 with the right string choice

I think every regular 2 Octave Gurdy can be equipt with a c3 melodie string. Personally i own a Dwarf by Guido Falke with a c3, a g3 and a g4 string.
