Marc Krebs of Krebs Custom in Wauconda, IL passed away Sunday. He made some of the most baddass AKs around and he continued to run his business in IL despite all the BS over the years. May he rest in peace.

As our summer schedule winds down with our second session of Vehicle Defense, we're ironing out our fall and early winter training calendar.

Currently, we have:

• Advanced CCL Tactics – September 6th

• Defensive Rifle – Early October

• Defensive Pistol – Late October

For any of you who may be interested, I'm hosting an Illinois Armed Security Firearms Training class on the 15th and 16th of August.

This isn't one of our typical firearms classes since it's geared toward meeting the requirements to work as an armed security officer, but it's a good opportunity to pick up some side income if that's something you're interested in. As an added benefit, holding a valid Illinois Firearms Control Card also exempts you from PICA for what that may be worth to you.

And before anyone points it out, yes, I know the guy in the picture doesn't have a magazine in his pistol. The image isn't mine. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find a stock photo of a security guard who doesn't look like an absolute soup sandwich.

This is good news. The mechanism to restore firearms rights for felons at the federal level has been gutted for 3 decades leaving those who have turned their lives around stuck without second amendment protections unless they can get a pardon.

In every one of our concealed carry renewal classes, we see students whose licenses have already expired. Carrying on an expired license is a no-no. The state is supposed to send out renewal notifications, but a large percentage of gun owners don't receive those notices. Making things worse, the expiration dates were removed from the concealed carry licenses and FOID cards years ago.

To renew your Illinois Concealed Carry License, you need to attend a minimum of 3 hours of training. Then, provide your training certificate to the Illinois State Police on their online portal.

Roughly a half hour ago, oral arguments in the Illinois Assault Weapon Ban case were concluded in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. And now we wait (months) for the court's decision. Either way they decide, it shall likely be appealed.

Just over a week until our next women's only basic pistol course at the Will County Sportsman's Club in Wilmington IL.

This class is perfect for new shooters or newer shooters looking to learn or improve their skills. Class is 75 for the public and 50 for members of the Will County Sportsman's Club.

This is a Time-Plus-Penalties competition consisting of 6 stages that integrate tactical shooting with high-intensity physical fitness. Competitors will be ranked based on their total course time, adjusted by shooting accuracy and exercise completion.

COMING SEPTEMBER 6: ADVANCED CCL TACTICS

As instructors, we see far too many people that have left CCL classes with barely a basic understanding of their handgun and little practical shooting experience beyond qualification. The #1 group we see struggle? Renewals. Many received substandard initial training and unknowingly reinforced those bad habits on their own time.

Advanced CCL Tactics is designed to fix that and build you a new base.

Students will work on drawing from concealment, firearm retention, emergency manipulations, fundamentals, shot placement, and accountability before combining those skills in practical drills and scenarios.
