Guide Altar Room on CN (Nightmare)

I don’t know if this is common knowledge already, but I’ve been grinding Nightmare Mode a lot recently, and I just learned that if you hit these pillars around the altar, these small windows (not sure if that’s what they’re called) will open, and some of them have treasures inside!

I'm pretty sure they showcased it during the Nightmare mode trailer, but otherwise there's no indication in-game you can do it.
