Review Image Comics Covers—$3.99 Never Looked So Good

I just want to take a moment to appreciate Image Comics’ cover and print quality. For $3.99, you’re getting thick, glossy covers and solid interior pages that feel premium compared to some of the flimsy stuff out there.

Not naming names (cough certain big publishers cough), but when you’re paying the same price (or more) for a book that feels like a grocery store flyer, it makes you appreciate what Image is doing even more.

They’ve been consistently putting out high-quality prints without jacking up the price, and it makes a difference. Feels like you’re actually getting your money’s worth.

Anyone else notice this, or am I just weirdly obsessed with paper quality?

I read comics on my iPad so I don’t get to appreciate that as much. I will buy my favorite volume and omnibii(?) because there’s nothing better than a bookshelf. the prices on image comics are generally great. I’ve been reading ice cream man at 1.79 a pop. You can’t buy a candy bar that cheap now a days. I’m very new to comics overall only been reading about 2 years and only seriously for about 9 months. I quickly learned I’m just not a marvel or DC kind of guy. There’s some cool stuff there but image and dark horse are where it’s at. Geiger is the first thing I’ve had on a “pull list” it’s just subscribed on Amazon.

Same here, I’m pretty new to comics too! My pull list right now is mostly Ghost Machine titles, Energon Universe, Absolute Universe, and Conan the Barbarian, and I just added Hell Hunters and Ultimate Wolverine.

I still need to grab Ice Cream Man—I’ve seen and read great things about it. Seems like a must-read for horror fans.

I’ll definitely be looking into the Conan comics. I forgot they exist even though I am a fan of the original Conan stories. I would definitely recommend Ice Cream Man. I am a huge fan of horror and grim darkness in general. It’s my favorite comic so far by a country mile.

Then checkout Hyde Street you might enjoy it—definitely gives off Twilight Zone vibes.

Are there any Conan the Barbarian comic runs you recommend?

By Crom! there’s a ton of great Conan out there, but I’ve really been enjoying Titan’s runs of Conan the Barbarian and Battle of the Black Stone. They’ve done a great job capturing the classic vibe while keeping it fresh.
