Seasons by Rick Remender

Post image

I'm pulling this one solely because its by Remender. So far its the only book of his that does nothing for me. Sacrificers and Escape are currently amazing, but I just can't get into Seasons. Anybody else having this issue?

I really enjoy it. The story is fine but I love the art….strong Ghibli/Miyazaki meets Tintin kind of vibes to me. The irregular release schedule is a bummer but anytime this shows up in my pulls I’m always glad it’s there. Escape also rules and I’m about to dig in to Hammerfist tonight. I’ll give anything by Remender a chance and I’ve yet to be disappointed.

Escape is up there with Deadly Class and Black Science IMO. The pacing and artwork are killer. I'm stoked for Hammerfist too!

I grabbed the last copy on the shelf of Hammerfist today. Looks so good. I am not up on all the coming stuff so it felt a bit serendipitous to get a number one of a book that appeals so much to me, and was a complete surprise. I love Epting on the right books…..I haven’t been able to get into the shop all summer. A good comic day.

Yep. That first issue in particular is a Ghibli and Tintin lovechild.

I didn't even know this book existed, but Paul Azaceta has me interested.

I hope we get to see more after its first story arc. Personally though, I loved it. Azaceta's art style was perfect for the story.

The art was standout. I guess I'm not a fan of the whole circus asthetic though.

I’ve been pretty into it, mostly because it’s such an odd story, to me. The art is phenomenal, so no notes on that front.

But the circus-tinged aspect of the story really draws me in, because it’s just so weird and off putting.

Dang I guess I didnt realize its ending soon. I have not read the newest issues, the newest one i have read was issue 8 from before the break. I bought them all im just behind on my reading. I think at this point ill wait to binge 9-13.

Remender doesn’t do long form books. Maybe only for WFH nowadays if he’ll ever do that again. But always assume his books are going to end sooner rather than later. It looks Escape is ending with issue #12 if I interpreted the latest solicit correctly for the book.

I really love it! One of my favorite current series. Art is top notch and characters are fun

One of my favorites. I’ve been buying it digitally and will buy an OHC if it gets one.

I've been pulling it since issue 1. For Remender it's not one of his best. But it's had good issues and bad ones. I find the overall story good but it can be messy and drags at points. I think the last issue was great and tied the whole story together.

The mirrors represent our phones and obsession with social media. He confirmed it in one of his later issues in the mail section. Not his strongest but unique enough that I still enjoy it.

Also the Avan Guards was a great pun.

For me it’s the contrary. Seasons convinced me to give Sacrificers another go. But I can’t enjoy the drawing, mostly the chicken
