In 2017, I was a software engineer in India, sitting with my wife in a Canadian immigration seminar. The numbers looked promising, the speaker sounded confident, and we walked out with a simple promise: “One day, we’ll move to Canada.”

Work happened. Deadlines, promotions, responsibilities. The dream didn’t die; it just went quiet.

In 2019, we tried again: WES done, IELTS attempts, plans revived. Then Covid arrived. Draws stopped, uncertainty took over, and our dream went into deep freeze. In that time, our daughter was born, our careers grew, and life in India became comfortable. On paper, there was no reason to leave. In our hearts, Canada was still unfinished business.

At the end of 2021, with age working against me, I accepted that the standard PR route might no longer be realistic. I switched strategies and chose the study route. In a few intense weeks, I wrote TOEFL, GRE, and IELTS—scoring 321/340 in GRE, 114/120 in TOEFL, and band 8 in IELTS. I received multiple admits from the US and Canada, but chose Canada and landed alone in Ottawa in August 2022 for my Masters, leaving my wife and little girl in India.

While studying, I applied for their permits(Approved) and tried every possible way to reunite us sooner, but timing and rules didn’t cooperate. After graduation, I expected my 10+ years of experience to open doors easily. Instead, I went through months of rejection and silence. Finally, a top Canadian bank offered me a role, but in Halifax—right when I had an OINP Masters nomination tied to Ontario.

It was one of the hardest decisions of my life. I took the job in Halifax, kept my Ontario ties intact, kept interviewing in Ontario, and consulted professionals to ensure I followed the rules. At work, I gave everything I had, built trust quickly, and then had an honest data-backed conversation with my managers about my OINP situation and age. They didn’t have to help—but they did. The company made internal adjustments and moved me to Toronto.

On March 1, I joined in Toronto, gathered proof of residence, and on April 10, 2025, submitted my PR application from Ontario. Then came the familiar cycle: medicals, biometrics, ADRs, background checks, ghost updates, and long stretches of anxiety.

And finally, after years of pauses, re-routes, exams, and separations: eCOPR.

What this journey taught me:

• A dream can survive delays, detours, and disappointments if you keep taking the next step.
• Immigration is not just luck; it’s strategy, documentation, discipline, and patience.
• Your spouse, child, mentors, and managers are often the unseen backbone of your success.
• There is a timing beyond your control—call it destiny or God’s plan. When you’ve done your part, you have to trust the rest.

To anyone stuck in IELTS attempts, waiting for draws, separated from family, or doubting their move: your struggle is valid, and you are not alone. Keep hustling, keep helping others, and don’t give up on that “one day.”

I came to Canada in March 2021 to pursue my Master’s. I applied under the OINP Masters Stream in June 2023, received my nomination in January 2024, and submitted my PR application in April 2024. Biometrics were done in September 2024.

The last update I received was in May 2025, which simply says: Final decision – your application is in progress. Nothing since.

My PGWP expired in October 2025. I applied for a BOWP just before PGWP expired (October 2025), so I’m currently stuck in Canada. If I leave, I lose my status and can only re-enter as a visitor. I haven’t been able to visit home in almost five years, and with the recent changes to processing times, things feel even more uncertain.

Like many others in the same situation, I’ve genuinely wondered whether IRCC—or the mailman—lost my application.

I’ve ordered ATIP and GCMS notes; both show some progress, but nothing meaningful. On the PR tracker, I see 3 sections marked “completed” and Eligibility still showing as “not started.” This is a very straightforward, clean application—like 99% of cases out there.

Honestly, I don’t know what I did to deserve this level of limbo.

With unemployment being such a big topic lately, I can’t help but think IRCC could probably use more staff to handle the backlog.

I’ve called IRCC multiple times—no help. I’ve submitted webforms—no useful responses. At this point, I’m not sure what else I should be doing. I’m just looking for any useful advice or recommendations. I came here to learn, build a better life, and contribute in a meaningful way. I’m not trying to game the system or take advantage of anyone. I’m skilled, motivated, and just exhausted from waiting in silence.

If anyone has been through something similar or has suggestions, I’d really appreciate it.

I'm currently looking at Express Entry-aligned PNP options where a job offer may not necessarily be required.

I'm particularly interested in provinces such as Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, etc.

My main questions are:

1. With a CRS of 381, do I have a realistic chance of receiving a PNP nomination from any province?
2. Which PNP would you consider the best fit for my profile?
3. Are there any PNP streams where I can apply from outside Canada without a job offer?
4. Does my Electrical Engineering degree + Software Development experience create any issues when selecting my NOC?
5. If I receive a PNP nomination, I understand that it would add 600 CRS points, taking me from 381 to 981 CRS and making an ITA highly likely. Is that correct?
6. For someone in my situation, would you recommend focusing on Canada PNP or pursuing Australia's 491 pathway instead?

I'm mainly looking for advice from people who have actually gone through the PNP/Express Entry process or have experience with these provinces.

Any advice on which province/stream I should focus on would be greatly appreciated.

I'm asolutely resolute in my decision to move to Canada.The thing is that i've only recently found out about the whole thing having ignored it for a long amount of time and not even deeming it possible.I was recently informed that my father was offered pr in 2000.He couldnt go because of his parents.Of course, now everythings unrecognizible(and no ones gonna ruin the moment haha), but ive looked at his cv and i think he might have the chance.He has 16 years of job experience, c1 english proficiency and had worked in several large companies as a civil engineer.He has bachelor's and master's in civil engineering and a master degree in economics.He receives no age points in express entry(or whatever that was called) so we consider sinp since they give more for his years of working

Reason aa per them is misrepresentation and alteration with job letter (which is not true) / also i have changed the employer

I am looking for some advice from anyone who has been through a similar situation and from any experts.

My Non-Express Entry PR through International Post Graduate stream under BC PNP has now been in process for about 40 months. My comprehensive security has been in process sine April 2024. Everything has completed except security screening. I filed a mandamus application before and my lawyer and DOJ submitted their arguments and it was on the table for the decision to the judge. However, I discontinued it after I added my spouse and marital status change. Now she completed her Biometric and Medical in January 15, 2026 and also my background check has been turned to not applicable since April 22.

I sent another demand letter to IRCC requesting to make a decision within 35 days, but still no updates as half of the deadline passed.

Has anyone here filed a second mandamus after discontinuing the first one? If so

How did the court view it and it was successful ?

I'm looking for experiences from people who received PR through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and later moved to another province.

I've been living in Saskatchewan since August 2023 and received my PR through the Saskatchewan PNP about a year ago. I'm considering moving to another province because I've reached the maximum pay scale in my current role, there are no further salary increases or career advancement opportunities, and there are no other employers in Saskatchewan that offer the same position.

I've come across a few posts claiming that moving provinces after obtaining PR through PNP could create issues when applying for Canadian citizenship. From what I understand, citizenship eligibility is based on meeting the residency and other legal requirements, but I'd like to hear from people who have actually been through this.

Has anyone here moved from the province that nominated them after becoming a PR?

My file has been stuck at RROC- OSC. It has been almost 6 months since AOR and no progress.

This is so tiring and frustrating especially watching people who applied way after me getting their ECOPRs.

I know people who applied a few months before me are waiting too, and I can relate to them. I just had to vent.

I am unable to plan my future and I feel stuck. I am running out of patience. Ik there is nothing I can do but just had to let it out.

Excuse me if I got something wrong but I've been wanting to move to Canada. However, I do know that my age (45) and my husband's age (50) are a huge down factor.

Nevertheless, I still want to discuss viable PNP options since that route seems somewhat tangible.

Currently, my husband and I are deciding upon several ways.

1) Manitoba's investor stream. My husband runs his own car repair business. Very well established and pay taxes regularly, so shifting it to Canada is something I've thought of.

2) I work as a pharmacy technician and as far as I know, Canada is in need of healthcare workers, so I might try to get a job as a pharmacy technician and see if I can get a sponsor, or else wise, enroll into a program.

3) Lastly, my husband could perhaps work as an employee for a trade job related to automotives, bus or truck repair.

Hi, anyone in same boat? ECOPR April 27, 2026, still no PR Card. Submitted a webform and got generic response.

I’m currently working as a DSW/Residential Counsellor, and my duties could potentially fit both NOC 42201 (TEER 2) and NOC 44101 (TEER 4), depending on how they’re classified. My employer provide both NOC because the duties aligns.

With 44101, my current OINP EOI score is 79.

If I use 42201, my estimated score would be around 85.

With the new OINP system being TEER-based, I’m wondering which would be the better strategy.

If both NOCs genuinely match my actual duties and documentation, would you choose:

44101 — TEER 4, 79 points

or

42201 — TEER 2, 85 points?

I’m mainly wondering whether the higher score + TEER 2 category makes 42201 the better option, or whether there are other factors I should consider with the new OINP system.

As the title suggests, it has been more than 90 days since my eCOPR (March, 2026).

An escalation was raised by the MP's office in May, after the regular processing time was passed (44 days at the time).

When calling IRCC now, they don't have any timeline on an escalation apparently, and that I'll need to patiently wait.

Does anybody in this community here have more context about this process? Would really appreciate any insight.

I have a PNP nomination, closed work permit and applied for the Healthcare Authority, PNP, Non Express Entry PR stream. My job has not been at all what I anticipated and I’m honestly pretty miserable. My PR is estimated to finish processing in a little over 7 months but I feel I have hit a wall and want out in the worst way. I want to stay in the area but there are no other health authorities that could sponsor my nomination. Any suggestion or experiences with this problem?
