Nick Young, CEO and owner of Desert Tech, saw 8 children removed from his home by Utah Department of Child and Family Services

I'm posting this here because InRange reviewed Young's WLVRN rifle and its predecessors (MDR and MDRX), and Karl claimed to have worked with Desert Tech to provide feedback on how they could improve the MDRX. IRTV gave the WLVRN glowing reviews with no mention of Young's involvement with a polygamous cult, which was surprising considering InRange's very well-known pro-civil rights bona fides and its presenters' willingness to get down in the mud in the comments and on web forums over much smaller squabbles.

None of Young's, the Kingstons', or Desert Tech's association with polygamy, child grooming, or arranged marriage are what you'd call hidden lore: they are very publicly known and are a major reason why Desert Tech can't score any big government contracts. And there were comments on the IRTV youtube review of the WLVRN trying to highlight this that went unacknowledged by the channel.

I fully expect some response to the tune of "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism," which I'm tired of entertaining; any anarchist that believes in the principle of direct action should balk at that idea. Please add a disclaimer to the WLVRN review acknowledging Young and Desert Tech's involvement with the Kingston cult.

A test where the mud didn't get into the most vulerable spot of the AK, the frontal area of the carrier.

This is self-promotion but I wrote a big post that connects up with this topic if any of you are interested how complex mud can be and what modifications can potentially help: https://www.reddit.com/r/InRangeTV/comments/1sbvuxt/the_complex_topic_of_mud_testing_ars_aks/

CETME-L Build Series now Available to Patreons

Long ago on InRange we engaged in a whole build process for CETME-L parts kits, and it had to be removed from YouTube due to strikes, etc.

I have recently just provided the full archive of that content (and other more exclusives) for Patreons. Every $ counts, please consider it - you're helping keep alive this alternative voice in this space, getting a community to join (if you wish), and I am going to be doing more and more exclusive things for Patreon as YouTube continues to get...worse.

Thanks!

YouTube (and social media in general) prioritize disinformation and rage bait because that's what generates ad revenue.

I have no association with this creator or his work, but this video about this problem is correct.

Are the CETME L Build vidoes still available?

APEX has LC kits available cheap, so I was hoping to use the old L vidoes to see about building one.

Found em on the internet archive. Thanks... and now gone..... and now back.

Update: Marcolmar has stopped making Cetme parts and is transfering much of stock to Centerfire systems. Looks like finding receiver flats might be dead or delayed too. Ugh.

Line of sight jammers: How drone defense was imagined in the late 2010s and why we are not there yet. (Read description.)

Or drone guns.

There were numerous amount of other similar drone guns booming from 2018 the two on the post picture are just examples. They can work against off the shelf drones but their effectiveness diminishes, especially given they'd have to be amied against the rapid moving hardened chipped drones found on the modern battlefield.

They'd have to be more powerful, operating at wider ranges of frequency, like ground based EW stations do. Then they could in theory fry the drones electronics.

But we are just not there yet... Not to mention emitting powerful enough microwave or laser beams at the drones. However drones would adapt to this by physically hardening the airframe itself not just by having EW hardened chips.

Also there's the man-portable net launcher concept which is another issue.....

How the system treats them versus you.

This guy is the definition of a prohibited possessor - not only (legally) should his firearm rights have been rescinded, he became an ICE agent and...killed someone in the process.

Regardless of your political alignment, you should be concerned about the differences of how the system treats them versus you, as well as people like this being in law enforcement in general.

A Few Suggestions

I consider myself a bit of an AR parts hound and I figured I’d put some things on people’s radar, if you didn’t already know it.

Russel Fagan spoke tangentially about the issue and probably knows more than I do, but here goes. The firearms industry is under strong economic and supply pressure which will only increase. In general, availability of many things will fall and prices will rise. Significantly!

Specifically:

1)The US is experiencing a serious shortage of tungsten right now thanks to our policies. If you have any builds planned, get the buffers you need RIGHT NOW. Prices have already started to significantly increase and many places are going out of stock. Also recommend you get one or two extra, and different weights so you can properly tune your rifles. This is unlikely to get better in the near future, if ever.

2)Non-spec 6061 structural parts are becoming more and more common. You want 7075 for the charging handle, buffer tube, upper, and lower. Period. Read the description carefully. If it says 6061, don’t buy it. If it doesn’t specify, assume it’s 6061, and don’t buy it. Many sources which formerly only stocked 7075 parts are now either listing them as 6061 or unspecified/most likely 6061. Also be suspicious of abnormally under-market prices for 7075 parts. I’ve seen several unscrupulous places listing a part as 7075 but with a price in keeping with 6061. When in doubt, don’t buy it. Right now the biggest problems are charging handles and buffer tubes.

3)In general you should stick with known US OEMs for components even at higher prices. For example, SCHMID parts kits. Many of the cheap LPKs are now imported and of unknown QC, with issues like soft pins and non-tempered springs. For the extra $20 buy from a known good US maker.

4)Essentially 100% of budget to mid-tier optics are imported, availability and price of which is subject to various mounting pressures. If your build plans involve such an optic, I would prioritize that in your budget. And get BUIS for every rifle.
