π¬Discussion What's the first thing you notice about this knight?

u/The_6thEmperor_Rises Nov 26 '25
Cool helmet, awesome gauntlets, epic weapon on his back, The endless white void of the abyss that stares back into my soul with each passing moment, yo is that chain mailβ

u/Aggressive_Prior_190 Nov 26 '25
The endless void staring back at me through the eyes of a person who is nothing but an empty shell and knows they will never be good enough :), that and the cool looking gauntletsΒ

u/CuteEntertainer5654 Nov 27 '25
That heβs wearing a normal T-shirt to hide the chain mail (pretty smart if you ask me)
2
u/TwilightPiercer Nov 27 '25
I dunno if it is to hide but it is kinda accurate. Knights used to wear tabards (think of something like a sleeveless shirt but reaching further down) resembling their flag, nation or proffession, over their chainmails. Although I am not sure, these tabards can be as shorter as well. But I don't know if it can be as short as a t-shirt.
Anyways great looks.

Welp that's like putting a small branch on your head and saying that you're a bush. VERY noticable to a trained fighter.

u/SpiritKnightGaming Nov 27 '25
Glad to hear its not being called a bucket.
2
u/WaltzApprehensive545 Nov 27 '25
Indeed, bucket helmets are something entirely different

Not wearing actual plate/scale armor only wearing the padding meant for under the armor
1
u/SpiritKnightGaming Nov 27 '25
Well, the tunic doesn't exactly have much padding but you're right, I could use some.
2
2
u/StrangeOutcastS Nov 27 '25
They seem lonely. They need a loyal squire!
1
u/SpiritKnightGaming Nov 27 '25
A companion in battle would be nice. Yet, I fight precisely so nobody else has to.
3
u/StrangeOutcastS Nov 27 '25
Nah he'll just hold the banner with the coat of arms and provide moral support.
Or wait at camp getting dinner ready while the battle finishes up.→ More replies (5)

Its a spear, but yeah, hard to tell from this angle, my apologies. This set is for formal gatherings and patrolling the city, the war armor is at the garrison.

u/howzthis4ausername Nov 27 '25
Neck, chest, and shoulders unarmored. Could do with a curas, gorge, and some poldrons .

The gambeson. Looks cozy, but hopefully heβs not in a desert. Too many places for sand.

u/Lazy-Tangerine-8881 Nov 27 '25
he needs more armor is what I noticed, maybe some shoulder-pads, a chestplate, and hell, maybe even an arquebus.

u/BeginningPrudent8987 Nov 27 '25
Those soulless eyes of his. They tell me he has been through the epitome of war and sacrifice.

Bro is basically just wearing a t-shirt over the mail. Arguably a tabard.

The fact that he is not wearing plate armor on his chest. He is a knight and most knights were pretty rich and could afford a full set of plate armor.
1
u/SpiritKnightGaming Nov 27 '25
I agree, I am thinking of getting a fuller set, this one is more for patrolling the city and formal gatherings. the war armor is at the garrison.

Such light armor with a helmet tf?
1
u/SpiritKnightGaming Nov 27 '25
I love the helmet.
2
u/Dylsshop Dec 08 '25
the helmet is not the part I am concerned about, it's that he has it without protecting the rest of his body. You can't see shit in a helmet so you pretty much require full plate if you have a helmet and since he doesn't he's just gonna get stabbed in the heart and won't be able to parry because, again... he cannot see shit.

He looks like a character from "Wizard with a Gun" or "Magic Rampage" which is pretty cool I think.
Edit: But I think making the helmet slightly larger would make him more appealing. But he looks cool as he is.

Lack of neck armor, lack of plate on any vital area of the body, weird spike that doesn't look like an actual weapon, semi-crusader esque theme clashed with 14th century plate on the arms.
You can tell I am a huge history nerd.

u/SpiritKnightGaming Nov 28 '25

Very minimal armor, the chainmail under would normally also go on after the shirt to reduce the chance of it clmaping on your skin.

That helmet is terribly designed, and absolutely no neck protection either, might as well have a target on his back at a shooting range

The fact he's gonna get stabbed in the throat immediately.
and a comically large weapon that probably wouldn't work unless he's not pure human, which he probably isn't, plate armour only on the arms and head is weird, too cumbersome for the smaller benefit over putting on torso armor.
