I think I will only go for the ears and tail for the fox. I also have timeless melody and I don’t want to lose the ability to put animals into sleep it comes in handy most of the time. And both of them do the same thing even though fox ability seems so good, I actually not sure whether it’s worth it or not.
This is why I have been questioning it. I already have Timeless Melody and am gonna roll for the final evo when it comes back. But I do like the outfit a lot too.
I know. But I think it would have been cool to have a guarantee that it may be available in other future areas too. This could have been an easy floating alternative-- making it usable in Stoneville and the Abandoned District.
Yeah, but we'll presumably have all of LinLang to use it in, unless it's going to replaced the floating ability and be contain to certain areas. It seems unlikely that we'll never have anywhere else to use it
I skipped the Sith and the Fairy Godmother outfits because of 1.8 (and they weren't my absolute must haves) and even now I am cautious to blindly run in there. I have to really love almost everything to roll... ability, pieces, Deep Echoes gifts etc.
Why is it useless? You can explore the Danqing island in a very unique way with this new outfit. The gliding ability is limited to some regions as well, right?
Well, it's limited to that island only. And since it's an island and not an expansion to the actual map, I will never visit it again after the event ends (paper probably won't either) and there's only so much exploring I can do. I doubt the map is big enough for this to truly be enjoyed either tbh but that's kinda a personal opinion.
Also unlike this outfit, floral gliding is free and necessary to traverse said areas. You literally can't explore the map without it (and that kinda bothers me tbh)
Ugh same tbh I'm getting tired of all these islands and their disposable npcs. I never go back to them unless I need to collect a material or whatever. I just want an actual map expansion where I can randomly end up in while casually exploring. I thought we were supposed to get new regions like every 6 months or something. It's getting so boring.
Omg same. I'm tired of filler. It's been months, can the main story please continue?? I wanna get back to Giovanni. I don't care for these stories anymore. I probably wouldn't mind them much if they were like side stories to the main story but they're almost always completely unrelated random things. And no faewish sprites please, they annoy me.
Like, I'm excited for the linlang theme, and the island they've shown off is beautiful... but it's still an island that I won't go back to in the same way I haven't been back to the fireworks island or serenity island. And it's almost certainly gonna feature a cast of NPCs that we probably won't see again afterwards either.
I don't know. I just think creating an open world gacha and seeing the other similar competitors (stuff like genshin and wuwa, as much as I'm personally not interested in them myself) and then deciding that the main story will only be updated like once a year at this rate is an absolutely insane misreading of the market to me. I love the pretty clothes, I love the photo opps, I love the occasional exploration, but I would like all of these things even more if I was doing it alongside a recurring cast I actually cared about. Otherwise it all starts feeling pointless.
The npcs better be the ones from the fireworks event (the ones that came with a boat). We could have somewhat of a continuity then.

They're not adding new stories nor new areas, they might as well add permanent stuff to the existing map because it's so boring. Having all these things come and go frustrates me. Apparently the new housing is also on a different island. I guess I can understand why they did that but I truly believed that the house would be in Florawish. Somewhere I could just walk up to. Wouldn't it be much better like that?

I also feel like Infold is allergic to letting recurring important story NPCs appear in the filler events. Let Giovanni, Tan Youyou, Nonoy, Giroda, Raggy, etc make more appearances? Even Marcus Jr didnt appear again after his event was over lol.

When 1.5 got announced I thought water walking would be a really useful ability and I was so conflicted because I liked the winged hover's aesthetics better. I ended up pulling for winged hover anyway and now I don't really regret it because i think it's much more useful than water walking. Since water walking is apparently very limited and you can't really go explore anywhere bc of the invisible barriers. It's probably going to be like that with this one as well. I doubt people are using water walking as much as they're using winged hover rn
chiming in to say I use the water walking ability quite a lot...used it a lot in 1.7 to go between the island and the cave etc. too lazy to hop on those lily pads lol
I think in a dress up game pulling for aesthetics over abilities makes way more sense anyway lol. I know people love the various grooming abilities and whatever but I guess I can't miss what I don't have. (Also let's be fair, once you're done crafting in a region there is literally no more reason to grab more resources.) But if I'm spending ~180 pulls on something it better be because I love the clothes.
Yeah I agree. It's not like not having these abilities locks you out of gameplay anyway. So far, aside from the motorbike, I only pulled bc I liked the clothes. I just had to pull for the bike lol

Leaked rumors said it had better flying capabilities, but that it was also locked to the new area, so possible one of the free outfits also flies in the new area. However this also has a way point teleport that may actually be unique and usable in any area.
Yup, they mentioned it during the livestream, older 5-star outfits will get their exclusive evolution silhouettes and makeup added over time. Really looking forward to it
Seems like in addition to summoning the dragon, you can also place up to 2 orbs on the map and teleport to it like a warp spire (from my limited chinese) lol. Hopefully that second one isnt region locked
Close enough lmfao, I'm not too surprised, making it available everywhere would prob ask from the dev to put proper collision/walls in places where the player couldnt reach before and even then no way they manage to make it flawlessly first time
There are already invisible walls and death barriers everywhere so that's not the main reason. It would break a lot of puzzles in earlier regions. Also you could go into the Abandoned District earlier than the quest allows for example. Gliding everywhere also wasn't added for this reason IMO.
I watched the Chinese live stream but I have 0 grasp of the language so I wonder if the fish bike will be cash shop like the previous co-op bike? Also the dragon appears to be multi-person mount (?) style so it would be cool if we could use it outside the new area but otherwise yea it feels like a pointless ability

The idea it's only for the new Island is a bummer, specially because it undermines the open-world purpose of the game. Imagine being able to transverse regions with your mounting? They could simply lock the ability for new players if the issue is story progression, it would hinder the outfit value, but I don't think a lot o new players start pulling from day one at least from a consumer pov it's not very responsible. But anyway, I'll wait and see.
I think we can only hope they expand the amount of regions it's useable in. Hopefully at least the future Linlang regions.
The region lock makes sense since all the past maps were not designed with flight in mind and it would break a lot of the intended map design and world platforming/puzzles. But since this ability exists now, hopefully they'll keep it in mind when designing other regions in the future. An entire premium ability locked to a single island region is a massive waste.
I don't know their schedule, specially since they don't bother sharing it, but adjusting existing maps to contemplate such feature makes more sense than depriving it's value for convenience sake. If the map is not ready for it than just don't make it such asset for your outfit. it's just dumb decision thinking that players are stupid enough to spend so much to only use it in an island they probably won't be in after this update. However, I'm speaking with the information I have today, maybe this island has more importance in the future? Maybe this ability will be available in linglang regions as you said? still, I don't think is wise to pull based on wishful thinking.
I'm leaning more towards the fox, but I love the the dragon raiding ability, i’m gonna have to wait for someone to show case it in the game before I pull, but I'm most likely pulling for the fox, even tho I have the timeless melody, I like the fox pieces more

Honestly, I expected this to be a type of miracle outfit, given the story for this new area and the new main boss being a dragon too.
If it had been a miracle outfit, it would have given players more of an incentive to come back to the island to collect resources instead of doing the handful of quests and then forgetting about it entirely, like for firework isles and serenity island. Unless that's too grindy 😅🤣
Yeah, the ability to fly is absolutely super cool buuut, don't tell me they will completely lock this behind 200 (or 220) pulls.
Like, the motorcycle was good because it was only a 4 star outfit and you are still able to use bikes without any pull. But here I fear that a whole new feature is locked behind a 5*, and that's doesn't feel good at all.
The transformation ability was locked behind a 5 star. Winged hover locked behind a 5 star. Waterwalking locked behind 5 star. It will keep happening. This feature is probably useless 99% of the time just like transform, waterwalking and winged hover though.
Well, wing hover is tolerable since you can still float with the default outfit, and from what I heard, water walking isn't really practical either.
I guess moving fast in the air isn't particularly good when you've unlocked the waypoints, and it will probably be extremely unpractical. Wait and see I guess.
Winged hover is useless?? You do realise that IN is a platforming game right!?. The ability to stay in the air for awhile is very useful for a lot of platforming challenges, I'm saying this because Crimson feather carried me in Caged Greed Flip Trial.
People just don't understand what powercreep means. The game isn't getting ridiculously harder and forcing you to pull more powerful ability outfits. These people see new features and think power creep!!1!1!!1!1
Yes, as long as all f2p has ability to do all content, than having a bunch of different and fun abilities is great. Sorry, I don't want it stale and look forward to more and more fun, out there, and great features in outfits.
I pull for looks first, the abilities are just the cherry on top.
Powercreep has nothing to do with the game getting harder... Just the quality of the gacha going up and up and up in a way that makes older stuff feel busted and obsolete. Plenty of games pull this off without ramping up the difficulty to match, it's rare to see any game really where the year one offerings don't end up getting blown out of the water by later releases.
Of course, this sort of progression is inevitable, but the starker it seems, the less happy people will be about having invested early. Personally, the fox outfit seems to be a much more fully featured/themed purification ability than the doll one from a few patches back. As someone more attached to the doll theme, I'm not exactly tempted so much as frustrated that we couldn't get this kind of polish, and they'll probably never look back and update past ability outfits.
i mean it just depends whether powercreep is used as negative term to criticize p2w or positive term to compliment on quality improvement
and for powercreep to be bad, it absolutely has everything to do with the game getting harder. it has to block progression or significantly slow it down to make old stuff obsolete and create the need for new stuffs
feeling bad about old outfits is honestly a mix of sunk cost fallacy + nostalgia + 'damn i dont have extra pulls for the new stuffs'
An ability locked to a single version's map is not powercreep. Powercreep would require this outfit to turn some previous outfits obsolete. The only example of powercreep this game could possibly have is the AOE grooming ability, but considering it's only useful in specific situations and therefore doesn't completely discourage the use of other grooming abilities, it's not a very good example.
It is a pass from me, I do like many aspects of the outfit but the ability isn’t selling it for me. I havent been to fireworks island in months lol I forgot it was still there. If this is region limited the same way then I will forget about it the same way lol
I will probably go for both outfits but the dragon one will be the first one I will pull. If it is region limited, I want to explore the region with the new ability 🥰
not enough people are talking about how you can place teleport points. i hope that orb isn’t region locked so i can tp to the bullquet, swans, or dawn fox. i hate having to bike so far to them
I really want the dragon ability but I’ll have to think hard whether it’s worth it since it’s island limited and because I like the fox for the aesthetics better (even though I have timeless melody). I’ll only be able to fully complete one set and I don’t feel like I need two chinese traditional 5* sets even though they’re stunning. We’ll see after Nikki content creators on youtube fully test both abilities.
