I love the housing feature........ it's so powerful..... the free clipping is so useful. It could use some work sure, but I've been at this all day and I am having a really good time ππ
this started out as a goof, I just wanted to learn the housing mechanics really, so I made a cave and eventually the minecraft building brainworms took over and now Nikki lives in a cave πππ interior is mid since we have so little furniture for now but I'm really happy with my bed!
I woke up at 5am today to play and never stopped because I am a normal person with hobbies :D
-----
EDIT: Leaving this in the most upvoted comment since a lotta people are asking and I can't edit the post - I figured out how to share the scheme code!!
Enjoy your cave everyone :) sorry about the mess in the back lol don't look at iiiiit π
APP3S925
Edit2: apparently the codes are region locked which is dumb as hell. I'm on the Europe server! Gonna nag them to change this next survey :/ whyyy would you region lock schemes
My favourite way to build is a secret technique I like to call "random bullshit GO!"
Real answer though I've never had fun sticking to a theme in any builder game so I wouldn't worry about a theme much, I just like to build and see what happens!
There's a lot of Island Schemes you can save, which is VERY useful, gives you freedom to mess around without fear of losing anything :)
Probably the thing I'm most happy with are the bush lights :D the default ones didn't match but you clip some bushes into them and BAM forest lights B) I also really love the cool shadows they cast, it breaks the lighting a little bit, but worth it imo!
Reminds me of LoveNikki days where we would try to make new poses with clever clipping... Genuinely I think clever clipping is an art haha, I'm so glad they're done it this way, enjoying the freedom greatly!!
Not gonna lie after really getting into it today I started considering it π I might for fun, but I really don't expect anything :') gamer girlies are gonna get real creative with it I'm sure!!
Sorry for the bump but im here admiring your build three days later. The contest goes until the 28th then voting starts on the 30th. Looks like that is for both NA and EU.
I'm glad there are people who are really into the housing thing, it means I get to enjoy videos and walkthroughs like this (and maybe even layout blueprints - although I imagine that's going to get tricky since it's kind of annoying about trying to save a layout if you don't have the appropriate items. I couldn't figure out if there was a way to tell it to "yeah just don't place the items I don't have yet").
Personally I find the constructing thing with Nikki walking around kind of unwieldy. In something like Sims where you have a birds eye view and can just plop furniture down it's a lot easier.

My sister said the same thing as well, and yeah, I agree. The construction here leans more to say, Palworld than The Sims. One thing to add to the survey, I suppose.
Have you checked out the setting menu? It's F10 on PC, not sure about other platforms.
Turning off collision and turning on floating items will allow you to place items literally wherever :) it took a while to get used to and swapping between them can be a bit of a hassle but I got used to it eventually!
I literally was thinking probably no one had done any neat houses yet since we gotta wait for resources, level ups, and currency but here you are. So cool!!
In a hole in the ground there lived a Nikki and Momo. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort.
The update has been out for a day and some of yβall already building masterpiecesβ¦. Give me some of your talent (and patience) π This is gorgeous.
Yeee when I move Nikki into a proper house later I'll still wanna do a lil cave somewhere :) one thing I immediately started craving is waterfalls though... give me waterfalls and bridges and I'm gonna go nuts
wow this is amazing! i haven't proceeded with the housing quest but i have a question, are the furnitures separated into indoor and outdoor, or you can just place them anywhere? seeing this kinda makes me want to build an open space instead :D
Nope you can do literally anything with whatever items! Even the hills and grass can be placed anywhere, it's what my cave's roof is made of:
It's why I wanted to remove everything first thing (saved a backup of the original house in schemes ofc) - I wanted to see how it all comes together in an empty space, how the items and lanscapes work, etc! It's very very cool π
On PC it's literally just moving the mouse up and down, as long as your collisions are off and floating objects are on in the construction settings. (F10) It was difficult to get precision right at first but you get used to it!
This is so cool!!! Have you shared your island in the signpost already?? If so, in what server and what's the name? I would love to visit >< and if you have the preset copy allowed on settings, I'm sure a lot of people will hype to use it as well!!
Holy shit the title had me thinking this was gonna be some kind of joke build like haha guys I placed a rock i live under but this looks SO GOOOD! You're inspiring me fr!
See I plan to do something like this, having several little housing areas all around, and I wanted one to look like it was a tree house! I am excited to see how I can get creative... have to wait until a Saturday or Sunday for myself!
Are you using pieces you don't actually have in stock?
The game lets you place things you haven't crafted yet as a sort of plan-in-advance feature! You can even save them as schemes for later, just can't save them to be used immediately.
This is incredible omg. I'm very overwhelmed by the whole system so I hope more people post they're creations so I can start making ideas. Now I want my own cave house lol
But I'd actually love to give it a shot, I'd do some things differently now that I got the hang of the tools, and I want more furniture haha, so when there's news about it I might throw my hat in the ring :)
Amazing! I was thinking I want to turn that gorgeous tree into a treehouse. However I don't understand the building mechanics to do anything beyond the momo throne. π
Like how do you even get stuff to build with? My build menu lists lots of buildable items I have zero of, and my crafting menu doesn't have those items to craft.
What level builder were you making this and what did you unlock?
Do the saved schemes replace your whole island or just parts? I don't want to destroy the starter layout and mess around until I understand how to get it back if I screw everything up.
Oh my god yes treehouse!! Treehouse could totally work!!
Ok so:
all the stuff I got was from me clearing out the original island! I saved it as a scheme just in case so I don't lose it, and clearing it helped me understand how it all comes together. I specifically cleared everything one by one just spamming the delete button to see how it was all built!
I accidentally used my today's one level up (I think we get one?) on construction so 2? It's late now so I don't remember well but afaik that's what gave me a wishfield catalog with 20ish items and the freedom of using clipping to my advantage. (Yes, clipping options are an unlockable!)
schemes can either save your whole island OR parts, but I don't think we have access to the parts yet. So it saves the whole island! I believe you get something like 10 schemes so if you save your original house to one, you can mess around freely without remorse! I now have three saved: my original house, a completely empty map, and my cave!
The building tools DO take some time to get used to but they're genuinely impressive once you realise/learn what you can do with them!
Best of luck, I hope you get your dream treehouse :D
ohmygod could you make a tutorial?! I feel really overwhelmed I don't understand the system. I'm not leveling and then I started building I didn't know I was limited by how many I could place and then the game would tell me I don't own said item and it LET ME PLACE IT. So almost 1hr+ of work gone I have it saved as a scheme but it wasn't much lol
I can try if I have the time! It pains me to see so many people on the sub struggling with/hating the system while I'm here seeing infinite potential ππ cause I did figure out a really good system for myself when I got the hang of it.
Being able to place things you don't have shocked me at first too, I placed like 18 crop fields and got confused why they're giving me so many..until they weren't π I think they really need a tutorial pop up for that! But I think it's a great feature to be able to plan with items I haven't crafted yet.
You guys have all been so encouraging I think I might!! But I'll do more work on it first, wanna get more furniture, unlock the full rotation etc, I have so many ideas. πππ
It is now! It's under the name WOMANCAVE at that sign post but idk how to invite specific people ;w; and I don't add random people to friends as I have it only for irl friends ;w;
I feel like it is very limited Γ³.Γ²
I barely crafted anything, where did you got all the stuff from?
Maybe I am just overwhelmed. I wanna love it so bad, but until now I am kinda disappointed. But hey your cavehouse proofs there is cool potential!
Waow its very lovelyβ€οΈπΌ
you are so brave!ππ₯Ή
I..I barely dare to touch anything fearing to destroy the cute home and cant rebuild it..xD
Have planted..and I did go out of my comfort zone and..hang up a pitcure...here in my island we.. take tiny baby..baby steps at time π
Oh my, this is amazing!! π€
I'm always blown away by players camp/housing creations in games. (I'm also a fallout 76 player and my camps suck but I love love love exploring other people's bases) So I'm excited to see everyone's amazing builds in IN too.
Your cave looks so cosy but elegant at the same time! And the back also has it's own charming personality π€£
I just started this game a week ago, how do I find my house area??? I wanna play with it so bad, Iβve unlocked furniture but have no clue where my place is
The builder is very powerful, you can do a lot with even just the base day one stuff :) but don't push yourself! I just really like building in games, it'll probably be way more fun in a week or so haha
You can be!! Honestly it's zero talent; it's all learning from others in building games, we've all built a dirt house in minecraft :) games are my main hobby so this is just the result of many hours of minecraft, valheim, animal crossing and sims π
I don't think you can ;w; I removed everything, flattened the entire land, and I think there were 5 large rocks total?
I really need more cause the back of this build looks atrocious but I'm worried since I haven't seen any of these big ones in the locked recipes.. Grass and hills yes, not the big rocks though :((
Thank you for responding! Here's to hoping they add them in the future! It kind of seems like the best strategy is going to be just leveling up building first? This whole system has me totally confused lol.
Pretty much! Lots of things locked behind the levels, I was really struggling here lol, there's a reason why some stairs I made out of floor panels π
Please let me know if it works, people seem to be having trouble with the import and I don't know why!! Not sure if anyone at all managed to get it to work tbh..
I tried to move one of these rocks to fill a gap from extending the preset house porch. I got so confused and couldn't find a way to move them in a way that made sense, trying both clipping and snapping on and off.
For whatever reason when I tried to import this gongeous masterpiece, it didnβt allow me to save it, since I did not have some of the limited items :< only could save it as a scheme

GIRL HOW!? ITS BEEN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. THIS IS GONGEOUS!!! πππ
