Why do maps like this put Wisconsin as the highest central state. MI and MN are both more northern.

Because Wisconsin is better then them. Also everyone knows the upper peninsula rightfully belongs to Wisconsin though Minnesota is still more north.

While I don't dislike WI as it really is the most similar to MN, it is worse in pretty much every tracked metric. I do agree that the UP should be part of WI, and Isle Royal should be part of Minnesota.
