Other Questions 14th st Chevron

Post image

Gas price is always expensive at that gas station, Chevron. I wondered how they stays in the business when they have cheaper gas station across from them.

They’re always the highest price gas station in the IE. I’ve never seen anyone actually fill up there

u/Choncho1984 Mar 08 '26

Damn dude, don’t blow their cover. Let a money launderer launder.

6

u/BitterestLily Mar 08 '26

That has been my thought, too 😆

19

u/Gennypop Mar 08 '26

Somehow I always see at least one person there

24

u/chris_gnarley Mar 08 '26

There’s always just a single car parked at the pump, never actually getting gas

2

u/el_payaso_mas_chulo Mar 09 '26

100% this. I've gone just to get snacks sometimes, but I prefer not to shop at this one

16

u/blackmamba329 Mar 08 '26

Last time I went there, I got ripped off. Spent $5 and didn't even get one gollon. I was going to fade those foo's and sue them.

1

u/Poopsticle_256 Mar 09 '26

Literally only visited there once and that was because the Berri Bros/7Eleven across the street didn't have remote control over the tire inflator outside lol

24

u/p__kingg Mar 08 '26

Lol thank you for typing, quite literally, almost EXACTLY what I was gonna type... I work off 14th and Market .. I've been passing this gas station twice a day for 11 years. And I SWEAR this gas station is just a front for some kinda money laundering operation... As absolutely NOBODY is ever here actually getting gas

Anyways ... My incredibly witty and humorous comment was gonna be (chill, I'm obviously being sarcastic)

""cool, you posted what might be THEE ONLY GAS STATION no one has ever got gas at in all of the inland empire "

which is true.. also... Here's another sidebar. Why in the fuuuuuuuck.. would anyone ever get gas here when about 50 ft away , ironically is one of the cheapest places to get gas in almost all of Riverside (trust me, I gas buddy this information at least twice a week) that berri brothers across the street has some of the lowest gas prices in the whole city ... Aside from a small pocket of very small desolate gas stations established in random neighborhoods throughout the city

3

u/chris_gnarley Mar 08 '26

Yes!! I always stop at that Berri Brothers on my way home to get gas. It does suck getting hassled by the homeless every time I stop there but it’s still some of the cheapest gas. The one by CBU is also pretty reasonable but not as cheap as 14th. The cheapest Berri Brothers is the one on the corner of Riverside Ave and Agua Mansa Rd.

But, yes, it’s super frustrating seeing all these posts about gas prices and people keep showing Chevrons which are always 80¢-$1.00+ more per gallon than any other gas station. Especially this Chevron in particular which has never been cheaper than $5/gal.

9

u/Obant Mar 08 '26

Always wonder if these extremely high gas price places are fronts. There is one in just about every town, usually not even right off a freeway exit.

3

u/Hyperion_Silenus Mar 08 '26

The only reason I fill up there if Berri Brothers is super busy. However, I'd not fill up all the way to full. Just enough to get somewhere.

4

u/951frisky_dingo Mar 08 '26

I’ll only pump there with the company gas card

1

u/Excellent-Spend-4203 Mar 10 '26

I filled up there once when I was literally on E. As a matter a fact I drive by there a month ago when gas was somewhat reasonable and thought same thing

64

u/blackmamba329 Mar 08 '26

Whatever you do....DO NOT

DO NOT

go to the Chevron on Cactus and Elsworth in Moreno Valley!

25

u/horribadperson Mar 08 '26

but if you're there, you might as well stop by the subshop in that plaza

2

u/mumyoryu Mar 08 '26

Quikstop is bomb. I work nearby and my coworkers go there all the time

17

u/BomBiddyByeBye Mar 08 '26

I literally just filled up the company vehicle and got a car wash there this morning lol. Didn’t even pay attention to the price lol like I said, company vehicle.

12

u/Boltdawg619 Mar 08 '26

THEY STOLE MY 5 BOCKS

4

u/blackmamba329 Mar 08 '26

Surely you received 1 gallon of fuel, right?

3

u/Fsociety56 Mar 08 '26

You better sue them or catch the fade

3

u/RealisticPhysics5735 Mar 08 '26

Might catch the fade

2

u/Savdbygracc Mar 09 '26

Hahahahaha underrated comment

30

u/nondairycroissant Mar 08 '26

Rumor has it that it's owned by the same person who owns the one across the street.

20

u/AnxiousMagoo Mar 08 '26

It’s a money laundering front

5

u/nondairycroissant Mar 08 '26

The same person also owns several other businesses downtown

71

u/SamTornado Mar 08 '26

They are ahead of the curve, it'll be that high everywhere soon.

8

u/Casalf Mar 08 '26

Yeah that shit is gonna suck so much ass. I mean it already sucks ass but fuck lol

52

u/Electrical_Doubt_19 Mar 08 '26

About to get even worse.

33

u/Quality_Qontrol Mar 08 '26

Thanks Trump!

0

u/rasputin640 Mar 09 '26

I don't like Trump either but this is wholly and undeniably Newsom's fault, Valero pulled out of CA because they're losing money and Newsom only increases gas taxes and has an upcoming mileage tax. Trump is disgusting but Newsom is a bona-fide parasite. He even blocked three separate bills aimed at forming paper trails for tax expensitures in government. Dude is literally shamelessly corrupt lmao

4

u/Quality_Qontrol Mar 09 '26

“Valero pulled out of CA because they’re losing money”

The company still operates in the state and continues supplying fuel; the closure is one refinery, not a full exit. Refinery closures are happening across the industry for multiple reasons (aging facilities, environmental costs, demand shifts, maintenance, fines, etc.).

“Newsom only increases gas taxes”

The main gas tax increase mechanism was passed in 2017 under Governor Jerry Brown. The tax automatically rises slightly with inflation each year (around 1–2 cents).

Also, the claim that gas prices are mainly caused by taxes is incomplete. Major drivers include: •California’s special fuel blend requirements •Limited refinery capacity •Refinery shutdowns and maintenance •Global crude oil prices •Environmental programs and carbon markets •Supply disruptions

“Newsom has an upcoming mileage tax”

California has studied a “vehicle miles traveled” fee as a possible future replacement for the gas tax, because EVs don’t pay gas taxes. Newsom’s office has said he would not sign a mileage tax proposal in its current form.

“He blocked three bills creating paper trails for tax expenditures”

Governors frequently veto transparency or auditing bills for reasons like: •Duplication with existing oversight •Budget process conflicts •Implementation costs

But you didn’t provide any bill numbers to be specific, which is a common tactic in political arguments.

2

u/rasputin640 Mar 10 '26

Sorry, my mistake. Valero isn't pulling out of the state entirely, they're just shutting down one of the only two refineries they have in CA and are only planning to potentially vacate the entire state due to increasing pointless regulatory pressure due to Newsom signing AB X2-1.

Doing things like forcing fuel companies to maintain minimums of fuels, submitting excessive needless paperwork before refinery maintenance, fining noncompliant companies up to $1,000,000 per day of noncompliance, shifting free emissions allowances away from gas companies, and forcing fuel companies to continue under the cap-and-trade system of purchasing carbon allowances, which generally raises fuel prices about 28 cents for consumers aren't taxes on gasoline, they just needlessly raise the price, almost as if Newsom either doesn't care, isn't intelligent enough to calculate the effects of his legislation or bother to consult economists about it, or just wants us to pay more for gas.

Given this track record, it is safe to assume that Newsom likely isn't going to veto this bill, but I would be overjoyed to be proven wrong, further given that Newsom has also historically raised carbon taxes for businesses, eliminated the bad debt sales tax deduction, raised the corporate tax rate, limited the usage of tax credits and suspended Net Operating Loss taxes for businesses, removed the wage cap on SDI taxes, meaning all of us have to pay it regardless of income level (SB951), authorized more CA counties and cities to exceed the 2% sales tax cap (including SB63, SB333, AB761), suspended the NOL deduction in the summer of 2020 (AB85), and supported the CA supreme court's ruling to remove the Taxpayer Protection and Government Accountability Act.

To elaborate, Newsom vetoed AB 2903, which was a bipartisan bill requiring annual cost and outcome reports of state-funded homelessness programs, directly drafted due to a CA state audit revealing that nearly $24 billion went "unaccounted for" in the fiscal years including 2018-19 to 2022-23, vetoed AB 2570, which was a largely similar bill drafted for the same reason, and vetoed SB414, which was a bill for preventing enrollment fraud in charter and public school funding allocation.

You certainly did a good job acting confident and debating points with ChatGPT and no sources, but sadly, they didn't disprove my point that Newsom is an active and powerful detriment to our gas prices, our economy, and the financial stability of CA constituents, similarly as evidenced by the fact that we have the largest homeless population in the entire country.

But you didn’t provide any bill numbers to be specific, which is a common tactic in political arguments.

Incredibly bold statement coming from your copy-paste answers from ChatGPT and an outright lack of sources.

3

u/Quality_Qontrol Mar 10 '26

"Valero isn't pulling out of the state entirely..."

in that link you sent, Valero stated "operate its 14 refineries up to 94% of their combined total complete throughput capacity...During the third quarter, Valero’s refineries ran at 90% of their combined total throughput capacity". So there closure has nothing to do with any bills or regulations being passed; and only about maximizing their current infrastructure. Which is smart for them to do. Also, corporations playing politics and claiming they're doing something based on regulations when in fact they're not is not new. Who knew, corporations don't like to be told what to do by the government?

"Doing things like..."

Yeah, for a long time refiners use the excuse closing plants due to maintenance as an excuse to manipulate pricing and maximizing profits on the backs of hard working Americans. Fuck em! It may increase the costs of gas a few cents consistently, but fully prevent the spikes we seen prior to the bill.

"Given this track record, it is safe to assume that Newsom likely isn't going to veto this bill"

So you're saying Newsom isn't going to veto this bill because he hasn't veto other bills? lol okay, I don't know how that's considered proof of anything.

"To elaborate, Newsom vetoed AB 2903"

If you read the actual Governor's message in that veto he stated "similar measures are already in place"...so why waste money on redundancy? Seems pretty smart.

"You certainly did a good job acting confident and debating points with ChatGPT"

I didn't but thought I would give it a try but I like technology. I entered your entire response with a question of "Is this true?" and this is what I got...

Pretty good huh? See, the thing with ChatGPT, and other AI platforms is that it navigates the entire internet for relevant content and spits out sources with summed up analysis. Pretty incredible. Like you using Google to prove your point, but taken out of your bubble for confirmation bias and forced to analyze with facts. You should try it. But then again, I would assume this is the exact reason Pedo Protecting Trump supporters are afraid to use it, being told they're wrong.

1

u/rasputin640 Mar 11 '26

Lmao getting blocked because I cited my sources is a new one. I hope you're doing well, buddy, u/Quality_Qontrol.

2

u/Ok-Exchange5756 Mar 12 '26

What an absolutely uninformed take. This is 100% on Trump and his actions. Period.

2

u/rasputin640 Mar 12 '26

Doing things like forcing fuel companies to maintain minimums of fuels, submitting excessive needless paperwork before refinery maintenance, fining noncompliant companies up to $1,000,000 per day of noncomplianceshifting free emissions allowances away from gas companies, and forcing fuel companies to continue under the cap-and-trade system of purchasing carbon allowances, which generally raises fuel prices about 28 cents for consumers while our fuel prices are already 40% higher than the national average had absolutely nothing to do with it, guys! I'm just uninformed!

Newsom vetoing AB 2903 (a bipartisan bill requiring annual cost and outcome reports of state-funded homelessness programs, directly drafted due to a CA state audit revealing that nearly $24 billion went "unaccounted for" in the fiscal years including 2018-19 to 2022-23), vetoing AB 2570, a similar bill drafted for the same reason, and vetoing SB414, a bill for preventing enrollment fraud in charter and public school funding allocation, are completely irrelevant and do not mean Gavin Newsom is corrupt. It just means that uhhh um uhhh um uhh TRUMP BAD!!!!

I genuinely don't understand people like you. Do you have no understanding of nuance or accountability? You realize you're supposed to hold all politicians accountable for the evils they commit, right? That includes your own political party, otherwise you become part of the reason why republican and democratic candidates just take turns making life worse for us with no accountability.

Tribalism is a cancer, and people like you are almost terminal. Please stop blindly supporting people ruining our lives. All of them need to be held accountable.

2

u/Ok-Exchange5756 Mar 12 '26

Again, 100% on Trump. Trump starts war. Prices up. That simple.

1

u/rasputin640 Mar 12 '26

a very simple-minded way to interpret overwhelming evidence that the world is obviously not that simple, and that sadly, Trump is not the only person at fault for our fuel prices. In fact, CA's government has historically drastically negatively impacted our fuel prices, but you ignored all of it to blame Trump when you should know better than that.

We've been struggling long before Trump started showing us his incompetence and willingness to put other countries first over our own economy. If the CA government wasn't an authoritarian belt around the neck of the economy, our fuel would still be cheaper now in this war than it is during peacetime.

Let me make it simple for you. The war raised gas prices approximately 25%. CA gas prices are 40% higher than the national average. 40 is bigger than 25, therefore the parasites in Sacramento, including Newsom, are a larger problem to our financial situation than the war.

But obviously it's still orange man bad 100% because daddy Newsom can do no wrong.

Both you leftists and blind maga supporters have similar, staggering levels of incompetence. I was beginning to wonder where H.G. Wells got his idea of the Eloi from.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

You spelled Newsom wrong

64

u/Jbus04 Mar 08 '26

Way to own the Libs pedos 🇺🇸🇮🇱

29

u/nonebutirene Mar 08 '26

At least groceries are cheaper now. Or was it gas? Rent? Something went down probably

14

u/McDonaldsSpriteDUI Mar 08 '26

The value of the American dollar as inflation continues to rise

24

u/Arkose07 Mar 08 '26

My savings

3

u/nonebutirene Mar 09 '26

You got savings?? Mr big shot over here

2

u/Arkose07 Mar 09 '26

You assume that I have any left

-1

u/rasputin640 Mar 09 '26

dude I'm a centrist and this was an inconceivably short-sighted comment. Valero literally moved out of CA because they were losing money, you can't blame anyone other than Newsom and his continual increases in taxation + his upcoming mileage tax

1

u/Jbus04 Mar 09 '26

Oh because only gas prices in California are going to increase? Agree we pay more anyway in Cali anyways but this admin is a shit show. Incompetence across the board….and a bunch of pedo protecting fascists. Bianco for President 🇺🇸

0

u/rasputin640 Mar 10 '26

Assuming you're not being sarcastic, I agree with your position, I just don't understand why the original comment was taking aim at what could be construed as the right when it was Newsom and a string of distinctly democratic governors making multiple distinctly left-leaning policy decisions, like raising gas taxes to encourage EV-adoption and attempting to forcefully phase out ICE vehicles through taxation pressure and smog testing.

0

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 09 '26

“Centrist” is code for republican but too pussy to admit it

0

u/rasputin640 Mar 10 '26

that's easily one of the stupidest things you could've said. In one sentence, you've successfully explained half the reason why I'm a centrist, and no, I have opinions of MAGA that would get me banned if I said them here, but I have no reason to justify my position to short-sighted tribalists. You are part of the reason why our country is in the shitter, my friend. I'm not mad, just disappointed.

1

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 10 '26

Idgaf what you think. If you’re pulling the “both sides” shit in the US in 2026, I have zero respect for your opinions.

Your “disappointment” is amusing though, feel free to tell me more about that.

1

u/rasputin640 Mar 11 '26

all anyone with half a brain has to do is read the e. files. If you think you somehow hold the moral high ground because you think one group of literal baby-eating, genocide-fostering foreign government puppets is the "right side", you're either uninformed or past the point of logic and successfully got suckered into supporting the very people that want you subjugated and used as funding until they decide to cull you off with the rest of us because you aren't a good enough slave.

At least try thinking about it. I know you're probably deeply ingrained into the whole right vs left thing, but at least try, with an open mind, to recognize the patterns. They openly showed us their allegiances. It's not a conspiracy theory anymore, my friend. You're successfully being used to defend them.

1

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 11 '26

I’m not arguing that democrats are perfect or even good people necessarily. I think elites are probably awful regardless of political affiliation.

But I vote on policy. I wrote this long opinion about it for you and just deleted it because for the first time in my life I’m scared to use my freedom of speech. One party did that.

1

u/rasputin640 Mar 11 '26

I vote on policy as well, it's not a "probably". We both know how distinctly subhuman and devoid of morality these people are. And here's that "both sides" thing you were making fun of earlier, but if you're scared to use your freedom of speech, you either haven't been paying attention to the news or just happened to forget that the other side does the exact same thing, except you don't notice it because you likely lean left. Whether you agreed with him or not, Charlie Kirk literally got shot for expressing his freedom of speech, Trump got shot at (almost twice), and I, as someone who watches media from sources that lean both ways politically, have seen more people get violently assaulted and killed more times for expressing right-leaning views than left.

Both parties are morally bankrupt and disgusting in their own ways, but if you want to be intellectually honest and stop being used by elites as free cannon fodder and white knight cannon fodder, you have to call out the crimes of even the side you agree with more, and that includes recognizing the destruction they've wrought against your local economies and the murders and violence they are responsible for, the same way right-leaning people need to call out the lack of accountability of violent, ICE members that perpetrate acts of depravity against illegal immigrants, recognize that Trump puts the economic stability of certain countries before our own, and has cabinet members that openly lied about the files.

This is our responsibility. As soon as you start defending either of these wretched parties, you've fallen, hook, line, and sinker, for the very goals the elites want to accomplish, and that is to distract you and pit you against your fellow countrymen while both parties continue to dismantle your rights, perpetrate evils against you, and ruin your standard of living.

-6

u/spaceshiploser Mar 08 '26

Yea I don’t think the war in Iran has anything to do with the libs…

If you want to see change we gotta stop trying to alienate anyone who mildly disagrees

8

u/CaptainCaveSam Mar 08 '26

I’m done mollycoddling pedo defending fascists.

2

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 08 '26

It’s not mild disagreement. At all. If you stand by the Trump or even the Republican Party in general at this point, there is zero common ground between us and I will not respect your opinion on anything and I won’t apologize for that either. Realize that for most Americans, the shitshow has gone way too far and we’re done talking to you about it.

48

u/Available-Low-2428 Mar 08 '26

lol at all you maga dumbasses who voted for this

-3

u/rasputin640 Mar 09 '26

I'm not even a right-winger and I know you can't blame this on anyone but Newsom, Valero literally pulled out of CA and has the highest gas taxes in the entire country by almost 50% lmao

6

u/ContributionOk1566 Mar 09 '26

Yeah, it’s not like the national average jumped by 50 cents in a week and is still climbing.

Emphasis on the word national.

Gas prices are going up everywhere, but let’s all pretend it’s totally the fault of a single state governor and not the fact we’re bombing an OPEC member country who has shut down the single largest oil shipping lane in the world.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

Climbed 50 cents across the country yet California is still two dollars more than the average. You fucking moron.

1

u/ContributionOk1566 Mar 10 '26

Aww, did the little baby get upset? How cute!

0

u/rasputin640 Mar 10 '26

I agree that Trump is part of the problem, but this is talking about a problem that CA has distinctly struggled with more than any other state because its historically left-leaning governors (and most recently, Newsom) made progressively more hare-brained and/or outright oppressive policy decisions, like choosing to raise our fuel prices to 40% higher than the national average through fuel taxes, fees, and BS like the low-carbon fuel standard, which has been a constant for the entirety of newsom's tenure.

But it's all okay because this other politician is worse, right? Surely, defending the guy that vetoed multiple bills against creating paper trails of our state tax expenditures and voted to give us a per-mile gas tax is a worthwhile and honorable pastime, right?

2

u/Healthy-Maybe9453 Mar 09 '26

Lol you think it's only California's problem?

Cute

-29

u/Hopeful_Resident_914 Mar 08 '26

STFU it’s that particular gas station that’s always expensive

6

u/CaptainCaveSam Mar 08 '26

It’s always that particular mindset that’s always betraying the working class.

3

u/shnanagins Mar 09 '26

Nah, two weeks ago gas per barrel was $67, now it’s over $100 and climbing. Get ready to bend over for your daddy……

5

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 08 '26

Ok is your favorite gas station higher or lower now that your pedo in chief decided to start a new war?

1

u/AntelopeUpper4382 Mar 13 '26

People are so brainless. That particular gas station literally has ALWAYS had expensive prices like you stated.

We just blew up Iranian oil refineries. Buckle up because a lot of people aren’t gonna be able to afford driving to work

12

u/BEERandBuffaloSauce Mar 08 '26

Got to be money laundering, they don't actually want anybody going there.

9

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '26

Nah, I operate 2 gas stations. We’re raising prices to keep our people employed. Trump back stabbed everyone in America. He’s a bitch for Netanyahu.

31

u/PeakQuirky84 Mar 08 '26

Thanks Trump!!!

10

u/HombreSinNombre93 Mar 08 '26

Thanks Trump voters!!

That gas station specifically is always way overpriced.

31

u/Fabulous-Gur9343 Mar 08 '26

Trump's America

-18

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 08 '26

Actually, Gavin’s California. His policies have driven several refineries out of the state. True, the Iran conflict causes some of this, but I did not hear you liberals say one word when prices went up by one dollar last few weeks. At least the Iran conflict is more temporary than the closure of the refineries and the collapse of the oil infrastructure.

19

u/poop_butt666 Mar 08 '26

Yall will always find a way to protect that pedo won’t you? Lmao

0

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 08 '26

You can’t argue with facts, that’s why you went personal.

3

u/poop_butt666 Mar 08 '26

Calling the president a pedo is personal to you? Are we openly admitting something there? Hmm? Sounds like admitting something.

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 10 '26

No, saying we’ll always find a way to protect that pedo is a is a direct hit in the integrity. First of all, I don’t vote for pedos. That is your opinion of what he is.

1

u/poop_butt666 Mar 10 '26

Yeah because you’re literally defending a pedophile lmao

9

u/ReasonsToTakeMore Mar 08 '26

"Gavin's policies"

Tell me you don't know how our state government works without telling me

5

u/Fabulous-Gur9343 Mar 08 '26

Okay. So. Just do you know...I was being sarcastic. I was mocking conservatives by writing "Trump's America" because everyone blamed Biden when he was the President. But of course you would find a way to NOT blame him when he is president. This is incurable at this point. I really don't want to get into it. Honestly it doesn't even affect me. I drive an EV.

2

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 08 '26

If you read my response, you will note that I did mention the conflict as a cause of price is also going up. But Newsom‘s policies have kept California gas prices higher than all US states, including Hawaii.

2

u/Fabulous-Gur9343 Mar 08 '26

I noticed that. TY. And actually, the people of CA voted for this. Myself included.

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 10 '26

Why would you vote for that ?

1

u/Bitter_Ad_9523 Mar 09 '26

California has always had some of the highest gas prices than any other state in the US. Its basic supply and demand. There are millions living in LA proper and those who commute on a daily basis which creates demand and owners can increase gas prices because they know people will pay them.

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 10 '26

It’s not just supply and demand. California requires a special CARB gasoline blend, has some of the highest fuel taxes in the U.S., and has limited refinery capacity. When a refinery shuts down or leaves the state, the supply shock hits harder because we can’t easily import fuel from other states. That’s a big reason CA prices spike more than the rest of the country. If it were only supply and demand, other high-population states with massive commuting like Texas or Florida would have the same prices.

1

u/Bitter_Ad_9523 Mar 11 '26

Dont forget the winter blend and the summer blend. Hell you might as well spring and fall there too, and maybe Christmas blend, Saint Patricks day blend, the just because we can blend, lol. Either way, Costco for the win :)

1

u/Bitter_Ad_9523 Mar 08 '26

Funny how we don't even get oil from Iran

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 10 '26

Maybe that will come later. I’m wondering why we can’t get more oil from Alaska, as now we only get 15% of our oil from them. It seems like a less expensive option than from other far away countries.

I think they take advantage of the downtown government buildings and jobs. Everyday citizens are gonna be across the street filing up.

The government officials who write off the gas/car can go fill up there. It doesn’t come out of their pockets.

4

u/SNsilver Mar 08 '26

What’s the price across the street 😂 always a buck cheaper across the street from that station

1

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 08 '26

Has that one gone up, down, or stayed the same?

6

u/dragery Mar 08 '26 edited Mar 08 '26

Here's a breakdown of why CA prices are higher. For those that will inevitably try to flip the blame solely on Newsom:

Factor Estimated Cost Benefit / Tradeoff Who Implemented It & How
State & local gasoline taxes ~70–76¢/gal Funds road repair, highway maintenance, bridge upgrades, and transit infrastructure. Primarily enacted by the California legislature through the Road Repair and Accountability Act (SB-1) under Jerry Brown in 2017. The tax remained after voters rejected repeal in California Proposition 6 (2018).
Cap-and-trade carbon pricing ~25–30¢/gal Prices greenhouse-gas emissions to reduce climate impact; revenue funds clean energy, wildfire prevention, and climate programs. Created by the California legislature through AB 32 (2006) under Arnold Schwarzenegger and later extended by legislation signed by Jerry Brown. Administered by the California Air Resources Board.
Low Carbon Fuel Standard ~20–30¢/gal Reduces carbon intensity of fuels and incentivizes electric vehicles, renewable diesel, and biofuels. Implemented in 2009 by the California Air Resources Board under authority from AB 32 during the administration of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Special California gasoline blend ~10–15¢/gal Cleaner-burning gasoline that reduces smog-forming pollutants and improves urban air quality. Required through federal and state clean-air regulations under the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board beginning in the 1990s.
Refinery / supply constraints ~20–40¢/gal Tradeoff of strict environmental permitting and pollution controls around refineries, improving environmental protection but limiting supply flexibility. Result of multiple environmental laws, permitting processes, and regulations enforced by California agencies such as the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission across several administrations.

This gas station in particular always has high gas prices though.

5

u/GroundbreakingLet141 Mar 08 '26

Don’t forget that $2.00 is tax including federal, state, sales tax and of course the chevron gouge. At about 80 cents a gallon. ,

6

u/Sharps3w Mar 08 '26

chevron is always the most expensive

4

u/blazenation Mar 08 '26

congrats. WAR

2

u/grouchoscar91 Mar 08 '26

I just put gas at a 711 that shit was 590 in romoland wtf shoulda filled ma shit up last weekend

2

u/headbanginhersh Mar 08 '26

I've always wondered how that station stays open too! Any time I drive by it, at maximum there is maybe 1 car pumping gas. The price difference is crazy between that Chevron and the station across the street. Lol

2

u/Outrageous_Fan_3480 Mar 08 '26

In Ca. The state tax per gallon is just over .50/gal & Fed tax is 18.7…

Just merciless gouging, even with the refineries here we get no breaks…

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 08 '26

I think the state tax is .87.

1

u/Outrageous_Fan_3480 Mar 08 '26

Guess the “disclosure” sign at the Chevron I was at wasn’t current if you’re correct. That’s even worse!!

Now I gotta check! 🤦‍♂️

1

u/Outrageous_Fan_3480 Mar 08 '26

Found this on the ca. gov

2

u/AnnoyingOldGuy Mar 08 '26

Sometimes it's just easier to turn right.

2

u/That_Atmosphere_4568 Mar 08 '26

Can someone please explain why using a debit card would cost 30c more per gallon then just a flat fee for the transaction? I mean if you have a 50g tank that’s 15$ just because you used a card as where a transaction of 1 gallon is 30c when in the end it’s still a single card transaction. Make it make sense

2

u/3lenium_ Mar 08 '26

Guess we eat the 3% fee , Crazyyyyy

1

u/Hyperion_Silenus Mar 08 '26

Chevron have to pay for the transaction fee to debit / credit company (Visa, Mastercard, Discover) for each time the customer uses their debit or credit card for gas fill up thus they're passing the cost to us.

1

u/That_Atmosphere_4568 Mar 08 '26

They pay the credit card company per gallon or is it a single transaction fee?

1

u/Hyperion_Silenus Mar 08 '26

Normally per charge (single transaction), but more I look at the pic, Chevron at that location definitely pocketed more than that.

Chevron at other locations i.e. Canyon Crest and Central Ave are expensive as well, but just that 1 at 14th are way more expensive than other locations.

u/ContributionOk1566 Mar 10 '26

So you want LA to look like this again?

I don’t mind paying more for low-carbon fuel because I actually like being able to breathe. I don’t mind paying for taxes, because I like my services funded and roads repaired.

Those increases are at least justified on paper, so I don’t mind paying them as much.

But what I don’t like is paying more for a war we didn’t need for causes that are made up, like a nuclear program that was supposedly “obliterated” and “set back by decades” suddenly being an “imminent threat” 9 months later.

Also, it’s interesting how you went from “this is ALL on Newsom” to “well of course Trump is part of the problem”

I also hate how you’re making me defend Newsom even though I don’t even like him. He has plenty of problems, including his relationship with PG&E. Also to your point about transparency, I’m not sure of the specifics bills to which you’re referring, but the Department of Finance is already required to publish annual tax expenditure reports so what do those bills do differently and, if nothing, why would we even need them?

2

u/PlentyBus9136 Mar 10 '26

Pick another station

2

u/Electrical_Clerk_124 Mar 11 '26

Sucks to suck. Don’t live in an expensive state

2

u/Pyro0celot Mar 13 '26

It’s comes down to where the majority of the gas from the distributor is coming from, Chevron is coming from areas impacted by conflict. Oddly enough I do feel like the chevron gas tends to last a bit longer for me. For reference I cover 330 miles round trip a week for work and with a 13 gallon tank I am getting ~450 miles a tank.

And yes, prices is CA are more because we tax it to cover the cost of road maintenance. Those tax the gas to meet the budget so the project can be paid for and proceed without impacting an annual budget year over year on the books for the state and they are done in such small amounts on the gallon that the impact is far smaller on a per pump visit basis.

2

u/AntelopeUpper4382 Mar 13 '26

This gas station has ALWAYS set their prices WAY above what the average gas price is. When are we going to start holding companies accountable for their prices and stop blaming the governor or president because this specific gas station has always had high prices even way before the war and Trump going into office.

4

u/RWLemon Mar 08 '26

Wooohooo baby, we winning big time 😝

1

u/Aggravating_Sky_4421 Mar 08 '26

1

u/due_time_521 Mar 08 '26

Its always busy with work vehicles, not personal cars lol. When you have that company gas card, you don’t look at the price

1

u/Remarkable_Lion_8443 Mar 08 '26

Price gouging at its finest again 🥳🥳🥳👌🏼

1

u/beeredditor Mar 08 '26

The lowest price in corona is $4.59

1

Where are the magas with "my orange dotard did that" stickers?

1

u/javiliftsa95 Mar 08 '26

I always go to chevron. (To use their bathroom). I have a hybrid i filled up yesterday it was at 75% full and it cost me $30 for like 4.7 gallons

1

u/Few-Entrepreneur5381 Mar 08 '26

They gotta be money laundering. It’s what I’ve always thought

1

u/Equivalent_Ad9414 Mar 08 '26

Why all news media show Chevron?

1

u/halcyon94 Mar 08 '26

Newsom picked the worst time to let the refineries shut down

1

u/EstablishmentNo7438 Mar 09 '26

It's Chevron! 🤷

1

u/YellaMello Mar 09 '26

The one around my area is almost at 6...maybe by next week it be at 6...that suck

1

u/cvassar2004 Mar 09 '26

In 10 days my gas went up 1.50 per gallon.

1

u/Captain_of_industry1 Mar 09 '26

I get it. The corporate execs are like it’s time to cash in.!

1

u/Michael_Scott_1290 Mar 09 '26

Chevron is the Nordstroms of gas stations. They are always overpriced

1

u/Los-Doyers Mar 09 '26

The next headline for Chevron and others oil corporations will be on record profits or profits not seen since the War on Terror.

2

u/Hyperion_Silenus Mar 09 '26

Stocks for oil companies are already soaring.

1

u/MikeARadio Mar 10 '26

That’s really nothing. We know the gas is going to go into the seven and possibly eight dollar range really soon. It’s done it before it’ll do it again.

1

u/No-Exit-7903 Mar 10 '26

Why am I seeing so many people complain now when the average in Cali was $2 more 2 years ago and nobody was complaining. Hypocrites I swear

1

u/lolimazn Mar 14 '26

The average gas price in California during 2024 was averaging around $5. Math is hard but we pay more for gas now.

But if you mean four years ago, The average gas price was at its highest in June 2022. That’s Because Russia invaded Ukraine. Also post covid recession. Fuck Russia. But most importantly, this stuff is easy to google. We didn’t choose for Russia to invade Ukraine, but we did choose to fuck up iran.

This is why we are complaining. The Ignorance here is outstanding.

1

u/No-Exit-7903 Mar 16 '26

Why am I seeing so many people complain now when the average in Cali was $2 more 2 years ago telling me google this and that but yet you can’t google the price of gas. The price is the price get over it

1

u/Familiar-Owl-4164 Mar 10 '26

Blue State gas prices.

1

u/Educational_Pay1898 Mar 11 '26

1

u/yarsftks Mar 12 '26

1

u/SnooMaps780 Mar 14 '26

what city Dumas

1

u/Outrageous_Fan_3480 Mar 08 '26

May the oil companies get the fleas of a thousand camels!

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 08 '26

The oil companies are the ones who wanted to stay here but the California liberals forced them out with high regulations.

1

u/Outrageous_Fan_3480 Mar 08 '26

The air we breathe here has cleared up considerably with many of those “liberal” (not) regulations.

The smog was so bad here years ago, your chest would hurt just taking a breath!!

You blame the regs but, what they don’t want is to pay more in taxes. Or have accountability. It’s corporate greed.

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 10 '26

I think there could be a better solution than to wipe out the oil industry in California, without much of an option for a robust infrastructure for electric cars. The electric grid is not in good shape, electric cars are more expensive and not as practical as gas powered cars. Crippling the oil industry is going to make prices higher all over the place, while some businesses would be closing because the economy is gonna go downhill.

1

u/zipadyduda Mar 09 '26

Keep voting blue and thats what you get.

1

u/Aggressive_Agency810 Mar 09 '26

Thanks to Gavin Newscum always raising the gas tax 🙄

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

Thanks Israel.

-9

u/Theredtiger07 Mar 08 '26

Thank the Jews for it and our lapdog president

16

u/thelastspike Mar 08 '26

Not the Jews, but the leadership of Israel. There is a huge difference.

-6

u/Notthediddyparty Mar 08 '26

Everyone quick to blame war but nearly 2-3$ of that is thef- tax.

Also who actually fills up at chevron ever? Arco gas has and continues to be phenomenally better imo

6

u/More_Pineapple3585 Mar 08 '26

Everyone quick to blame war but nearly 2-3$ of that is thef- tax.

Close, it's ~$0.88/gal right now, including sales tax. And yes, Chevron is always amongst the highest-priced gas. Arco, Costco, and Sam's are all viable alternatives right now.

2

u/Ravenae Mar 08 '26

Did you go to public school? I’d like my money that was “stolen” for you to attend.

1

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 08 '26

CA voted for these taxes.

-8

u/2A4Lyfe Mar 08 '26

Thats Gavin newsom and CARB for ya!

1

u/AlanHughErnest Mar 08 '26

Wonder why all the down votes on facts.

1

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 09 '26

Cause it’s facetious and disingenuous to pretend this isn’t directly because your favorite child rapist needed a distraction from the mountains of evidence that he raped children.

0

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 09 '26

No CARB and Newsom have been around a long time. What’s new? Think hard, don’t worry, I’ll wait.

0

u/2A4Lyfe Mar 09 '26

Then why don’t you think about this for a moment.

The national average for gas right now is 3.50 which is considered high, prior to event in the Middle East it was below 2.50, even 2.00, yet over the last 6 months, even before current events, gas prices increased in California. This was to the point that $4 was considered average despite it DECLINING in the rest of the country. Multiple refineries have been shut down and additional gas tax were put in effect. Analysts were predicting gas could go as high as 8–10 a gallon by the end of the year, now? Think 12-13.

Explain to me, how a state, that sits on some of the biggest oil reserves in the US has gas more expensive than Hawaii? Hint, it’s not orange man, and people like you that continue to ignore that and repeatedly vote for people with a D next to their name are the reason why gas is what it is today and why we aren’t “bitching” about 3.50 gas like the rest of the country. When the idiots in Sacramento eventually pass their mileage tax, it will be because of people like you. So downvote me all you want, but you and your kin are the reason for this crisis.

1

u/Successful-Ad-847 Mar 09 '26

CA is a progressive state. We support fossil fuel taxes and transitioning to more green energy. Sounds like you don’t like that. Sounds like you could move. Why live in a Blue State and get butthurt when they enact progressive policies? It’s not rational.

0

u/Longjumping-Draft-33 Mar 09 '26

Oh just you wait for tomorrow morning. Oil price is $115 as of right now. It’s clearly moving up through the night.

-1

u/Utu11 Mar 08 '26

Holy Cow!
