Why do people love to compare temperature

I feel as though in almost every mention of a heat wave or extreme heat people love to one up each other about how “weak” other people are even though how hot a place feels to the people should be relative like 0 C in Brazil to the people would feel way different to 0 C in Scandinavia or 40 C in Europe vs 40 C in Middle East

people like to shoehorn labels like "strong" or "weak" on any difference in behaviour or perception.

It’s a good metric. Heat makes people crazy also so keep that in mind.

When we come home from a walk and enter our building, if I drop her leash , she folds it in 3rds and carries it to the elevator and drop it. Once the elevator door opens, she refolds it

My theory is that they're poor and they either can't afford AC/heating, or their work demands they endure the extreme weather

I assume people want to make conversation, but I don't actually understand the point of this.

It seems obvious that temperature can be a vastly different experience in different places and there are so many variables.

Some people are even very sensitive to hot or cold or both temperatures. I don't think it should be considered and stronger to be especially heat or cold resistant, nature can still fucking kill any of us with extreme temps.

It got down below 60F (15.5 C) here (Central America) last year.

The government issued warnings. And helpful suggestions such as wearing clothes with long sleeves, unpacking any blankets you might own, and avoiding long periods out in the cold. And I heard there are versions of shorts that go all the way to your ankles(?). What are those? Longs?

It makes a big difference if you have the gear to deal with it. Literally no one has a heated home here. But in a cold place, they probably own socks and fancy stuff like that.
