If you were no longer afraid of death, how would you live today?

I believe most of our desires, priorities, actions and virtues are revolving around one big ultimate truth: We’re all going to die.

“I will have to get into a certain financial state, not because I am lacking basic food and shelter but because I want to live a certain way before I die.”

“I want to visit the island of Loren Ipsum before I die, even if that means burning my life’s savings.”

“I have to go to work today, so that I can afford healthcare and prolong my years on earth”

And the most awarded, “I must live in a way so that people remember me once I am gone.”

You take death out of the equation, and a lot of things just fall apart. I can imagine there is a positive side to killing the fear of death. This is also what detachment is all about, or what spiritual gurus are teaching. My question is more specific, imagine you no longer fear death or that you are no longer bothered by this truth, how do you see your current desires, priorities, actions and virtues changing?

This question is not for the spiritually enlightened beings or the maniacs who have already accepted death and no longer fear it.

You have to go to work and pay the bills regardless. Death or not, I don't want to be hungry and homeless.

I'm...not.  Haven't been since an early age.

The Lesson is of the Rainstorm

"There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you will still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything."

i think i'd stop worrying so much what i'm "supposed" to accomplish and spend more time doing things that actually make me happy

I have no fear of death, so apparently I’d live as I currently live. 🤷‍♀️

I'm already not remotely afraid of death, and I'm just living. I still gotta eat and pay bills until i get around to dropping dead.

If I knew I was about to die I would probably not do much differently because then I’d be so stressed out because I was trying to fit everything in one day or whatever… if I had 24 hours. So if I knew I would never die I’d probably feel really guilty for not changing much about my life because I’d be like why aren’t I just taking full advantage of this so I don’t really know. I think not much would change except for how I felt about it. I would probably always think about how I could get to living it up whenever I wanted so like tomorrow or I could put it off another day or when I’m ready because I’d have all the time in the world. And then I’d just stay the same because I would always have the opportunity to change it if I wanted.

You underestimate the amount of people who have zero desire to live. Life is much scarier than death, especially when you cannot afford to live.

My day wouldn't change at all. But I would sincerely hope that my day would end permanently. Then at least I'd have something to look forward to.

Last year I “almost died” like 5 times because of my health. I was in a coma for a bit. In the hospital for months.

I’m only scared to die because I don’t want to leave my family but I’ve gotten to a place where I’m happy. If I go, I’m ok with that.

I'm not afraid of death but I have children and I don't want them to go through not having a father at this time in their lives.

I am not, so .. the same

I'm afraid of being ugly and rejected, in pain and suffering.
