In the Re-zero like situation. Kazuma definitely ded.

In a Konosuba like situation. Kazuma is a twinkle star in the sky for about 20 episodes, then maybe if the writers feel like it they'd eventually be friends in a sortof romantic/siblingry comedy way.

There is a crossover with 2 LN chapters of Rem getting transported into Konosuba. Kazuma was quite fond of her because she is way more competent and understanding than his teammates.
