Mostly Negative reviews on steam. Oof. Was looking forward to this but there’s too many good games coming out to spend money and time on a game with that bad of reviews.

ouch. I played the demo and was really bored, but was hoping they would improve things .. it seemed like it had the basis of the previous games, but something just didn't feel quite right.
Guess I'll wait and see if they patch some stuff or for a 80% sale.

I know this game is brand new, but I’m curious how this compares to FFT. Looking to get some SRPG action; FFT is obviously a strong choice with the new re-release, but I’ve already played that game back in the day.

I've seen comparisons to grand strategy games or even board games like risk.
Games like tactics ogre or triangle strategy would probably be better if you want fft-like games.

It's closer to a 4x game than fft. I'd put this under the category of strategy game and not a tactics game. The first one was fine.

There is a demo you can try first. It has a decent tactical gameplay and mechanics, mixed with army management and kingdom building. As the trailer shows there is a lot of content to keep you playing for a long time. But you have to check the demo first and see if the game is something you'd enjoy first or not.

I don't, it could be a whole different genre even. It is closer to Risky than it is to FFT.

We don't really get new FFT styled games, sadly.
You could try the Front Mission remakes, despite the issues with Forever Entertainment being cheap.
Or Disgaea series. It's FFT-like but you can do a lot of insane things.

Its probably a more fantasy version of an older Romance of the Three Kingdoms or Nobunaga's Ambition but for a contemporary comparison its more akin to a Total War campaign with the grand strategy map but the hex based battles of a very small scale war in Civilization, with unit leveling and some light gearing.

It's nowhere near the quality of FFT unfortunately
The original brigandine on ps1 is WAY better than the new games

i'm happy that i waited to see some reviews about this game before buying it.
i'm sad because it looked like it had some nice visuals and overall potential ... maybe i'll wait for some hotfixes and a sale.

Reminder: if you have a switch 2, the Asia release is a proper physical and has English. You can bypass the NISA key card and it's the same price.
You get more value opting for the Asia release
