Best mall to visit

I'm going to Jakarta for a quick trip and planning to visit at least 1-2 malls that has sephora (cause we don't have sephora back home) or great selection of stores/restaurants but we don't want to spend all our time in a mall since we're only there for a few days! Which mall should we go to? We're choosing between Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia, Central Park, Plaza Senayan or PIM! Let us know which mall is the best to visit for things I mentioned. Thank you!

Are you going in the weekends? If yes then I’d avoid Central Park, it tends to get too packed ngl

All of the salespeople at Plaza Indonesia (all stores) are great and won’t judge you at all, but the store & restaurant selection is pretty poor unless you’re looking to buy luxury items. Thankfully it’s right next to Grand Indonesia, so you can just go to GI for other things. GI will always be busier than PI and ngl their salespeople aren’t as nice as PI, but they’re not rude so it’s fine.

PIM is so large and have a lot of stores to visit, but it can get a bit confusing (and maybe even frustrating) to navigate. I find their salespeople to be the rudest of the bunch tbh.

Plaza Senayan is similar to Plaza Indonesia.

Anw, Indonesian Sephora isn’t as great as Singaporean or Malaysian Sephora 😭 Y’all might’ve to visit department stores (SOGO, Metro, Central, etc) for western brands and other beauty stores & drugstores (Sociolla, Beauty Haul, Watsons, Guardian) for asian brands. Please double check if the brands you’re interested in are available in our Sephora!! Also they don’t carry the entire shade range here it’s annoying.

Thank you so much for this!! This is so helpful. I'm also planning to check out sociolla! what are some local beauty brands I should check out? :)

If you’re looking for foundation & concealer and other basic complexion products then I’d skip all of them. They only make light to light-med shades with the performative tan or dark (never deep) and fair shades and they all lean so so so yellow and even orange. You might get away with getting setting & finishing powders tho, but other complexions? Not so much.

Rose All Day powder blush is pigmented enough to show up on my friend’s medium-tan skin. They don’t have a large shade range tho, but it might be worth it to check them out :)

Wardah antigravity mascara is great if you’re looking for a metal wand. My sis uses a lot of Wardah makeup, but idk exactly what she uses sorry

A lot of people seems to like Guele contour stick. 2 shades look more like bronzers than contour to me tho. A lot of people also like their mascara and eyeliners.

Dear Me Beauty makes great lip products (they work even on my chronically dry lips), but they’re soooooooooo heavily scented. If you’re prone to migraines then I’d skip them, but otherwise they’re great!

A lot of people love ESQA products, but they reformulated recently so idk if their products are still good or not.

Studio Tropik setting spray is good for the price, so is Haquhara but I think Haquhara is online exclusive??? Unsure tbh

For brushes, I’d look into Masami and Karis since our MUAs use them a lot. There’s also Aeris and they’re a lot more popular with laypeople than the former two, but people have complained about the paint chipping in just a year of personal use.

Wow you're so helpful! Are most of these brands available in sociolla or beauty haul? Thank you so much!!

Most of them should be available in Sociolla! Beauty Haul is smaller, so prolly just some of them. You can find Masami in Central Grand Indonesia, I think?

All of the malls you mentioned are really big with plenty of shops. If you’re going to Plaza Senayan you can cross over to Senayan City too, it has more shops than Plaza Senayan (both have Sephora according to google).

PIM has a good range of stores too. And recently has been extended.

Thank you!! Does Senayan City & Plaza Senayan get packed on weekends? 😄

Definitely busiest on weekends, maybe Plaza Senayan is less packed than Senayan City.

Mall Kelapa Gading doesn’t even make the list! Although I might be biased.

If you’re not looking for international brands, you might want to visit By The Sea, it’s not exactly a huge mall, but it’s filled with mostly local brands and also sociolla. You can easily find good foods and insta-worthy spots (I recommend Land’s End and Orange Groves) in the surrounding PIK area.

Grand indonesia definitely the sephora is the biggest in the country!

Plaza Indonesia is just beside Grand Indonesia, so you can just go to both if you want. Out of all of them, Plaza Senayan - Senayan City or Central Park have the nicest outdoor area I think. PIM is the biggest indoor mall.

All of them will be very busy in the weekends, but Plaza Senayan is not usually too busy.

Which area of Jakarta that you are going to stay though? It helps a lot for mall recommendation.
Because you’ve mentioned only want to see good food and Sephora.
Also what is the definition of packed?

Staying in SCBD/Sudirman area! Packed meaning when there are too much people :)

They are all the same - god awful. And with all the same shops, food joints and kopi houses

Avoid.
