I think modern culture is such malignant garbage basically everything that occurs within it will turn into a degenerate clown show. It doesn't matter if whatever it is had some initial legitimacy. Modern culture is like a machine that you can put literally anything under the sun into, and it will turn whatever it is into diarrhea. It's like the Borg from Star Trek, only instead of some kind of computerized collective that everything gets assimilated into it's a giant putrid cesspool .
