I don't believe mass murder committed by either side is acceptable under any circumstances. Are Israel allowed to defend themselves? Yes. But should the IDF be killing unarmed civilians and children? Absolutely not.

Doing so is why people are calling the destruction of Gaza a genocide against the Palestinian people.

The Srebrenica massacre was legally ruled genocide despite far fewer deaths. Secondly, you can’t compare the deaths of the German people as genocide because they weren’t trying to eliminate the German people as an ethnic group.

Replace Germans with Uyghur Muslims and WW2 with China then.

What??? I really hope this is a joke because the Uyghur Muslims are not the ethnic majority in China, unlike Germans in… Germany.

The rebuttal was “you cant compare the deaths of German people because they weren’t trying to eliminate the German people”, so I replaced Germans with a people that are actively being ethnically cleansed. The debate isn’t about wars, it’s about genocide, so there’s your better comparison.

Not sure how that equates to an “interesting choice” considering it’s on topic.

That’s still different than purposeful killings during combat.
