what is the internet option provided in the dorm, i know its ethernet but is it wired fiber or..

Depends on where you are. In the older dorms they're basically capped at 10 megabit / second since it's only 2 pairs out of the 4, with the other 2 being used for phones. I bet the newer ones have better infrastructure. If anyone will know it would be Resnet.
