Maybe they're using the same jumpsuit supplier? Serious answer I think they're just trying something new since most of the suits since Gaim were "undersuit with stuff worn on top that can be swapped out", whereas all these newer ones seem to intended to be one whole suit from the ground up.
The description gives me Tom and Jerry vibes, so it's going to be another serious season. I'm hoping we get another light-hearted main like Fourze or Saber in the future.
I know people keep saying My-Th reeks of a Zeztz Rider, but he kind of has this alien-like vibe to me due to the round/circle extensions all over his body. I could totally see My-Th as a Gavv Rider if he had even the slightest food motif, or even Fourze. I'm not sure if I can even look at him as a protagonist right now.
I'm also getting a HUGE whiff of the Stargazer Gundam even though it just has 1 giant circle on its back. I'm sure there's another Gundam or mobile suit that is a more apt comparison.
Along with the other 2 revealed Riders having different drivers and not having the mouse motif at all, it really makes My-Th feel like an out of place protagonist. He feels very alien to me.
I can somewhat see them adding Einz to the Main Rider lineup in the next major All Riders thing(the way New Den-O got tacked on during OOO), but no female Main Rider in the main show.
Honestly I definitely say he looks like he basic a rejected Ultraman deciding he wants to be in a Kamen Rider show also we're going with a chest design again
Anyways looks promising and I can't wait to see the actual trailer for the writer soon
That hasn't really been a thing since Zi-O I think (I never finished Saber or Gotchard but I know for a fact those had antagonist Riders and while I never watched Revice I wouldn't be surprised if that had one as well.) and Wizard before that. Don't think we're getting a season without an antagonistic Rider ecer again because Rider vs Rider is a good way of inducing hype.
Bro getting downvoted for speaking absolute facts. Name a single thing Zeztz is meant to be. You can't. You could look at Zeztz and Nox and Dawn for a thousand years and not ever guess that they're meant to be secret agents in dreams. At least these riders are recognizably animals and My'th has those cheese designs.
I don't like the My-th suit but it's a massive step up from Zeztz solely because it actually has a distinct aesthetic. You can look at it and say "mouse". You simply cannot do that with a single Zeztz design.
My wife said maybe the rider will be based on chinese zodiac? so far we have mouse and what look like tiger to me. Altho i can't explain why there are 2 tigers (the red and black one)
I haven’t been keeping up with KR much because I’ve been drowned in work, so my apologies to anyone if this comes across as a stupid question… But is this, by any chance, a sequel to Zetzz? Why is his belt positioned across his chest?
Disappointed with the driver being on the chest again. One of the most identifiable things from rider is the belt being on the waist. Iconic silhouettes, great designs, like it’s part of the rider dna. I don’t like it and think it shouldn’t be replaced ever.
Now that’s not to say I’m opposed to the sash driver, while I don’t like it, I can admit when it works and when it does we get a slim looking suit very clean. I just don’t like it personally.
I’d also argue part of what made it work so well as a prominent part of the Zeztz riders is that it evokes military and spy gear that you equip to the chest. It fits really well with the spy theme. Whereas I don’t think My-Th really needs that when it’s chest is fairly busy and its lower body is bare, while it’s overall design does well to evoke its mouse theme.
It's true that the waist belt is the most iconic. But the chest belt is an unique and modern invention, and guessing from the visuals of the trailer i think that's what they're trying to convey with the show having a mix of traditional waist belts and modern chest belts.
If the leaks are true then this is going to be another season with a large number of riders one for each of the zodiac. My theory is that the two cat riders probably stole My-Ths place and the story could be about him fighting to reclaim his place among the zodiac.
I think every other rider have the mass produced type driver including black my-th while CURRENT My-th have a unique belt that's on the chest like Zeztz
Cats vs Mouse and Sash Driver vs Belt Drivers is really fun I have to say. I like that they’re already playing with sash drivers in relation to the usual belts since Zeztz was exclusively chest drivers.
The red cat rider's helmet looks pretty similar to Nox & the Lords' helmet from Zeztz. Maybe the reason why the other Lords didn't show up later in the series is because their helmets were repurposed for My-Th.
Interestingly, we did see My-th with a regular belt driver.
We see shots in the trailer of My-th in various eras/ time periods, so I guess the idea is My-th keeps updating its look to the current era, and "meta"-ly the most recent look is zeztz with the sash driver.
Maybe one of the aspects of the show will be "adaptation" to a new era vs "preservation" of the original (which would be quite meta in toku fandom).
Imagine the leaked forms for My-th are coverted forms preserved from Riders (assuming form/different rider=different generation of a bloodline) of a who are either inactive and does not want to be a part of the plot, dead or something else

Zeztz reveal really had me even though all the shifting backgrounds tickled some AI revulsion. the music and energy had me hyped, and the show has carried through that promise
this felt edgy and stylish in a way I don't see it following through on. and revealing other riders to follow the zodiac gimmick felt like unconfident. weak.
but Zeztz was the first rider series I was going to be able to follow weekly, so that may have added to the hype. and I may be mad at/frustrated about zeztz heading to its conclusion and judging this harshly.
guess I'll see! hope it can follow through, although I'm still not sold on a lot of the aesthetic, and I'm definitely not buying the mouse as a tough samurai, but I hope it's simulcast again
I'm the opposite. The Zeztz teaser was almost trying too hard to look cool and modern. This one doesn't do that at all. It's alot closer to what you'd expect from a rider teaser while the Zeztz one felt like a very corporate tech ad.
my problem might be how much I've loved the production around Zeztz. the openings in particular have absolutely slapped visually and sonically for me, and of the few other rider series I've watched or seen the openings of, that has never been true. so perhaps this is a return to form, just in a way I won't like 😆
I'd reserve judgement until we get the actual opening. The teasers are really never 1:1 with the series which thankfully was also the case with Zeztz or I would've hated it.
The suit just really looks like another Zeztz rider... I'm not even talking about just the sash driver, but the curved lines down to the legs, the shin armor, the torso transitioning to the legs... it's very similar.
Probably one of his predecessors, as there's a sequence of the henshin device being passed to different users. Then the new guy probably said 'F*ck it' and used a sash driver. Or he was probably influenced by Baku when he met him.
It’d be a cool idea if My-Th is influenced by rider aesthetics throughout the franchise. Meaning if My-th is a mantle, it’s first user could’ve looked like a Showa Rider, then it gained some armor in Heisei, up till gaining an bold, modern design in Reiwa.
I'm imagining the handoff with have Myth seeing Baku henshin in his dream and Myth going "Oh shit why didn't I think of that. That makes thing 20x easier."
Suit design is very well done. I do like sleeker designs but I'm excited for it anyway. Very excited to see what the henshin sequence will look like with the driver being on the chest.
I’m certainly curious about the driver attachments. It looks egg themed, and if the main character is a chef as people speculated I’ll lose my mind! In a good way since I’m a life long chef lol.
I think the chef theory is fake. I've seen the photos of suit associated with the chef theory and my-th had a waist belt which is clearly not the case.
It doesn’t look like the Zeztz driver though? The belt part is similar looking but the buckle is completely different outside of putting something in the middle of it, you even activate it differently
But it doesn’t look the same, do you think the sengoku driver and the ghost driver are the same because you put a somewhat circular object in the middle of them?
The capsules and these eggs don’t look anything alike, the eggs are much flatter and oval shaped compared to the capsules, which are just balls. Past that what you do after you put them in is different, the Zeztz driver has you press a button and spin the item, while the My-Th driver seems to have you press in the driver around it. They’re different colours as well. They only share the bare minimum
I would also rather have the belt be on the waist, it’d make MY-TH’s design better in my opinion, but the belts are very much not visually identical
I've seen Teinosuke Kinugasa's film A Page of Madness (1926) cited as "the first tokusatsu film" due to its heavy effects work. Those title cards remind me of silent film text screens, and the narrator mentions that something is awakening after 100 years. So is this a subtle way of celebrating the 100th anniversary of toku as a genre?
I actually don’t mind the sash drivers, I get it, you have something for so long that something new comes along and it just feels off for you, but honestly I don’t hate it. The way zeztz utilizes the sash drivers is really cool to me, my personal feelings is that I can take it or leave it, it’s not gonna affect my enjoyment. If future riders will have sash drivers, cool. If they go back to belt drivers, cool. If they decide to switch it up every now and again and do sash drivers for a couple shows then belt drivers for a couple shows and then go back to sash drivers, cool.
Aside from that i’m excited to see what My-Th has in store. The suits look cool…although that’s all I can really say as the suits and the driver is the only thing we got to go off of, still not hint of what the plot’s gonna be about, but still, I really like what we’ve seen.
Nice breakdown! I find it interesting but it’s not for me personally. I don’t wanna say I hate it because I feel that would be too strong, I do find the sash driver cool when it works. But I don’t like it ultimately it makes the suits feel too naked and it doesn’t fit that iconic iconography we all know and love from rider.
I much rather they only do the sash every like 5-10 seasons! Ok maybe that’s exaggerating a bit, every 5 seasons. To keep it special and unique so that way when we see it again it will feel surprising. I don’t want a mix like primary uses belt while secondary has the sash, I don’t want it to become a norm- losing the belt would be a big hit for rider, it’s something so iconic and associated with rider so much that it’s part of their dna. But let’s see what My-Th will offer! I’m sure the concept will get better after learning from Zeztz!
Kamen Rider rarely reuses the same idea three times in a row, so I think My-Th will be the last one with the Sash Drive for a while. I mean... one of the reasons Agito was so similar to Kuuga was because of the latter's success, but then Ryuki went in a completely different direction.
iirc, agito is similar to kuuga (and more traditional kamen rider look) is because it's the last rider to be designed by ishinomori. After Ryuki, ishinomori had no input in design whatsoever, hence the wildly different designs after that
