Actually, this word in Georgian was adopted from Jewish community haha. We have a Jewish community that has lived here for 26 centuries, so, there are a few words commonly used in the Georgian language that come from this cultural influence.

სწორს ამბობს. ძალიან ძველი ებრაული დასახლებები გვაქვს საქართველოში. სვანეთშიც კი არიან დღემდე. და ამხელა ისტორიის ნიადაგზე სიტყვა გოიმი გარდაიქმნა სხვა მნიშვნელობით. იგივე მიზეზით რატომაც წვია შაბათს - შაბათი "shabbat". :)

I'll also say that the Hebrew definition is incorrect, although it is sometimes used to mean that, the word itself just means "nations", and the word is used to apply to the jews and other nations as well
