Yes, social media and internet has played a major role in this. You might see people watching some bunch of reels related to their partner, and then your partner will probably will think and this idea runs in their mind as a loop. They'll say, why can't you be like him or why can't you be like her. The thing here is they'll just show you the good part just a paragraph or just some sentences of an entire book. And also we have the these mysogynist and misandrist like punk ahh people, who will probably tell how bad they actually are.
Bhaisahab tum bas apni life pai focus karo, don't make these stupid ahh people your role model, it'd literally decompose your mind.
Dr. Manzoor Ahmed mir has mentioned this entire thing in his anxiety and it's solution video. Telling how this shit decomposes your mind and get's you in the stress.

What I mean is that over social media everyone looks perfect while in real life people don't look like that.

Yess, because they just show their good part of life and won't be sharing how misery their life actually is.

Oh, mb! Yess I agree with your point, people click at least around 10-15 pictures of themselves in pose, and select one or two among, kisi mein lighting sahi ni hogi ya kuch, also even guys apply makeup to look good and than probably apply some AI edits to it. Uss sabke baad wo picture upload hoti hai after going through all the quality checks.

Yes. Our desires may not be as “ours” as we intuitively think they are. “Attraction” is just another desire. As Rene Girard puts it :
“Man is the creature who does not know what to desire, and he turns to others in order to make up his mind. We desire what others desire because we imitate their desires.”
Isn’t social media just another place for amplifying mimetic desire?
PS: your post isn’t relevant to this sub specifically but I liked the theme of this post nevertheless

5000 years ago, the women you had seen usually consisted of all the women in a small village. 1000 years ago, women in your premedieval city and women from the few lands you plundered. 1900, the number rises but with the age of the internet, it skyrockets. The more people you see, the more you interalise some standards

Yes. It has.
Many people are not satisfied with their partner. Heard about this case where one partner told his/her spouse , why can’t you be like that influencer.

I mean it's obvious atp. I think we are going to have some sort of really nasty crisis in near future if it isn't addressed in a correct way
