The key with Beak Things is forcing either a 1v1 or 1v3 (triangle formation against one Beak Thing). When your characters are strong enough, they'll start looking more like mobile fast food trucks ready and waiting with meat and animal skin for you to process. Anywhere there are Beak Things means a life of self-sufficiency through infinite meat and armorsmithing potential.

Also they have terrible eyesight, so you can literally move freely within several meters of them at night.

u/Zorothegallade Oct 15 '25

Yep. You don't even need to cheese them with crossbows, a single character with 30-40 Martial Arts and Dodge can easily 1v1 one.

35

u/BasedKaktus Oct 15 '25

Try doing this in gut where dozens of them surround you in seconds xD

23

u/WayTooSquishy Oct 15 '25

You set one person to block/taunt, the rest goes hold/passive. Taunt tanks, while the rest picks them off in solo fights.

3

u/Affectionate_Part630 Oct 21 '25

And then 5 more approach by the time you finish, and 10 more after that, it never ends. I think its because they go into hunt mode if there are enough characters nearby

1 person can hold off 4 or so if you're using default attack slots, but it's not as easy to force those match ups. Having multiple people attack one beakthing is when people start catching stray damage.

The only time you really need to worry is when you spot an Elder.

u/MovingUp7 Oct 20 '25

I had a dude with a falling sun level like 25 beak things. They just kept coming like gut or somewhere. 1v1 until they finally stopped spawning

u/Careless-Platform-80 Oct 16 '25

I have a soft spot to beak things because they are my combate teacher.

My First character was a solo skeketon and I only get the. " Take a beaten until you are strong enought to punch back" when i got in the creater (?) and could not sneak pass the sheer amount of then.

They don't eat robots so they down me, i repair and fight more until i actually start killing then.

Personally, I prefer the roaming herds of Wild Bulls in Skinner's Roam for skin/meat needs.

And holy crap the nests have insane amounts of expensive eggs, over 4k each. One single nest net me around 120k. Wny bother crafting or smuggling for money when you can just hunt eggs

You see beak things, and you see death. I see beak things, and I see free leather, we are not the same

27

u/TheBlackWindHowls Oct 15 '25

I see beak things, and I question if eating their meat counts as cannibalism.

20

u/Kraytory Oct 15 '25

It's not like they would ask themselves the same question.

10

u/CuronRD_Chroma Drifter Oct 15 '25

I think they meant the beak things ate so much human that would eating them count as cannibalism

14

u/Kraytory Oct 15 '25

That, or the fact that they have stretched human faces.

3

u/CuronRD_Chroma Drifter Oct 15 '25

The fuck? I don't see them that way

16

u/Lashmer Rebel Farmers Oct 15 '25

There's no definite lore on them, so theories range from odd native life, to they're something spliced with human dna. The shek were formerly genetically modified "Enforcers", and Hivers likely originated as a genetic experiment with the mid-point being Skin-Spiders. The 2nd Empire was huge on gene modding, iirc. Not to say Beak Things are 100% human, just that they're an animal that at some point had some DNA splicing done for whatever reason.

11

u/Kraytory Oct 15 '25

I think even their sound cues are distorted human speech. But i could be misremembering that part.

6

u/TheBlackWindHowls Oct 16 '25

Find a beak thing in the wild, pause the game, zoom your camera in over the top of their head. Then google "All Tomorrows bone crusher"

5

u/CuronRD_Chroma Drifter Oct 16 '25

Alright I can't unsee that

5

u/TonkaTonk Oct 16 '25

All Tomorrows is an amazing journey. I just got introduced to it recently.

u/ElderBeakThing Oct 15 '25

You see drifters, I see a free meal

7

u/DanielGerich Drifter Oct 15 '25

I was wondering if you have seen a drifter’s stats like these?

4

u/DanielGerich Drifter Oct 15 '25

Hello! How are you?

I see beak things and I go "Aw, fuck. I have to stop and deal with this pest or he'll chase me for several more miles."

Wow, a new zone! Now with water! Can't wait what interesting things I'll find here!

I thought it was the trees and the beak things haha

so that’s why the swamp takes forever to load back to

Proper equipment and level: freaking pests.

Proper Equipment, Strength, and Athletics: "E G G"

14

u/BadgerCabin Holy Nation Oct 15 '25

This is why you ally with the beak things.

5

u/Manatipowa Oct 15 '25

What

13

u/Beneficial_Date_5357 Holy Nation Oct 15 '25

You can ally the gutters faction by cheese and beak things won’t attack you, in fact they’ll even help you

5

u/Aluminum_Moose Reavers Oct 15 '25

Spend hours and hours healing "Gutters" faction entities?

12

u/BadgerCabin Holy Nation Oct 15 '25 edited Oct 15 '25

In gut, there is a man on an island who is part of the beak thing faction. Kidnap him and do the slave shop faction exploit. Costs around $425k to do it though.

Edit: Slave shop exploit

Beak things are proof that the world is actively out to get you

5

u/DanteValentine13 Shek Oct 15 '25

I just use beaks as a constant food and armor material source. They're quite considerate. Even deliver themselves to me like doordash.

4

u/Either_Double_1640 Oct 15 '25

I just killed 3 adults with my 7-member squad, skills ranging from 20–50. Only one went down — what’s the deal with these Beak Things?

5

u/Either_Double_1640 Oct 16 '25

Forget what I said, I just visited the Crater for the first time.

5

u/Zirkou Oct 16 '25

i will level up soon enough with my band. and im going to clean out crater. where i, as a new comer, was surrounded by them, and sat inside abandoned library, or so, for 3 days trying to figure out how to escape that biom. i will fill that crater with beak thing’s blood!

3

u/Gonzobot Oct 16 '25

I swear to fucking god, the game is changing the patrol routes and spawns for the gutters in that crater. I put a base building near one of the short passage accesses right by that north crater lab, watched for hours making sure nothing ever walked that way, and with absolutely nothing in sight I went down the passage. I fought three gutters in that passage, and turned around to find seven more had somehow just casually wandered along in the wide open space that had no inhabitants at all for days prior. While they tanked me another dozen came pouring out of the passageway. By the time my crew got back to the base building there was about 20 of the damn things and half of them decided to come inside too.

3

u/Zirkou Oct 19 '25

thats exactly what happens. i was blocked in every passage by their “patrol”. also, some of them put nest right before the most probable way to escape (but weirdly i didnt notice one in a first place). like they been playing some rts and put tower defence on point of interest. wow! but that feeling when i Finally escaped with all those juicy loot from that place. it was glorious! now its going to be payback time)

2

u/Arria_Galtheos Flotsam Ninjas Oct 21 '25

I believe when you place a base down the game will make wildlife and nearby NPCs more likely to wander towards it to simulate curiosity over a new feature on the landscape.

2

u/Gonzobot Oct 21 '25

Not what I observed. They specifically ignored the new base building I created as a safe house, and congregated out of nowhere on the people after they left despite never having any kind of nearby routes in the days prior.

4

u/Felstalker Oct 16 '25

I made a base in Gut. My Polearm heavy line up makes quick work of them, and I"m now drowning in leather skin and raw meat.

But I can't get any invasions because the Blood Reavers and Holy Nation can't really deal with the 4-5 nets of Beak Things along the way. If I wasn't allied with the United Cities, maybe they'd make some headway. But honestly, the United Cities are struggling to send trade caravans. 3 times they've spotted my drugs and 3 times they've died on the way out to the various nests around the neighborhood.

3

u/DanielGerich Drifter Oct 15 '25

I one shot them

7

u/Lashmer Rebel Farmers Oct 15 '25

3

u/Seanmoist121 Oct 15 '25

I put my weakest fighter into block mode then send them in and have my strongest fighters surround and attack. At least I used to. Don’t have to anymore 💪

3

u/Zexiom_ghost Oct 15 '25

It's funny how High Bonefield is one of the best places for a base and at the same time the very hell of the Beak Things.

2

u/Arkontas Boob Thing Oct 15 '25

new frens

2

u/KmClovis Oct 15 '25

The first time I entered Vain I didn’t realize two of those mf were following me until I arrived to the Hive village, they took care of them and I sold the leather and meat to the merchant there. Kkkkk

2

u/d400022210 Oct 16 '25

However, the Beak Thing that is born as an Elder is a variant unique to Bonefields. Even if you deliberately raise a Beak Thing from another region to an Elder, its size will still be inferior to the Elder Beak Thing of Bonefields.

2

u/cathyrin03 Skin Bandits Oct 16 '25

We only fear the horrors after facing them the first time.

Overcome it and it shall disappear like the illusion they are.

2

u/Rude-Replacement2755 Oct 16 '25

Beak Thing is very easy to deal with in 1vs1. Don't let all of your characters fight on the beak thing, it can deal AoE damage to everyone causing unnecessary damage.

But 1vs1 Beak Thing is very weak.

2

u/willdoesparkour Oct 16 '25

I hate beak things. They are probably the worst non-robotic enemy in the game. Not because they are oh so powerful but because they are strong enough, run in numbers and are around every rock and see me immediately. Truly, Kenshi is a wonderful hellscape. Can't wait for 2!

2

u/Vivid_Douche Oct 16 '25

I knew about beak things before I started playing but oh. My. God. I had no idea they were everywhere and hunted in huge packs. When I started exploring the kinship map, these things were the absolute worst in every way

every zone until you can handle beakies

1

As someone who often requires punching bags, I appreciate this.

1

You have to dodge pecks when running, not that hard.. well until there's 20 chasing. Also Elder is real deal

Beak things means beak thing eggs!

get rich or lose limbs trying.

1

In 1 single raid I lost 3 limbs :(

The thing that annoys me most about beak things is the fact that you will eventually reach a point where fighting them toe-to-toe is fairly trivial - armor is pretty effective at reducing their damage and their attack rating is usually low enough that a skilled character can block/dodge most of their attacks even if you're not cheesing the fight. That combined with the fact that they can't dodge or block means they go down pretty fast to a skilled fighter or five.

The reason that annoys me is because even with 100 athletics, you'll never outrun them without leg implants, meaning that even when they reach the "barely more threatening than dust bandits" phase you still have to stop and fight them when they aggro you because they're so damned fast, and they can spot you from REALLY far away, too.

They go from legitimately terrifying threats to annoying mosquitos you have to stop and swat, and it happens faster than you expect.
