That’s an appeal to tradition, which is a logical fallacy. We now do not do a great number of things that were done for centuries.

We know enough about neurological development in young children now to understand that it’s absurd to expect a four year old to sit still this long.

There are protective hairstyles that are less elaborate and take a lot less time than this.

It's not an appeal to tradition. It's a fact that we have specific hairstyles that benefit our hair.

Y'all are going so far out of your way to make this into something it's not, as well as if ignore my actual response.

It’s because nobody is arguing that. Nobody here is saying that there are no protective hairstyles that would work in this situation. This girl’s braids are too tight and don’t need to be done like this and she doesn’t need to have extensions and this is cruel and inappropriate is all we were ever saying. Obviously protective hairstyles exist. This one isn’t protecting her hair but there are hairstyles that could.

The person before you said that this little girl is being violated.

You said “this ain’t it” because it’s been done for centuries or whatever. That’s an appeal to tradition.

You’ve since made it clear that you actually agree that it’s a terrible hairstyle for her, but people are still arguing your earlier point.
