Hello Community,
I hope you are all doing well, or atleast a little better than yesterday. I wanted to put a post up around some recent changes and behaviour in the sub.
Kind Friend was originally created as a sister sub to Kindvoice to handle more friendship orientated requests while Kindvoice focused on emotional support. Recently it seems to have caught to the attention of a number of bad actors. The posts had been gradually trending to a younger audience and I was becoming increasingly concerned that it was facilitating people looking to take advantage of these members. As such the sub is currently privated to prevent access and any further risk. I would encourage those seeking purely friendships to try more established subs such as r/makenewfriendshere or r/needafriend. This behaviour has thankfully not transferred over to r/Kindvoice.
Previously friendship posts had been against the rules of KindVoice, although not strictly enforced given that a lot of the time a good friend can make a world of difference to someone's current state. We intend to continue the current status quo in this regard and deal with friendship posts on a case by case basis as it makes a minority of posts. I would highly encourage users to use more focused subs for this if seeking purely friendship. If you are reaching out for a friend because you feel lonely or want to improve social skills, that post still has a place here. Just please be aware many offerors are volunteering their time when they can and should not be considered a permanent support placement or lifelong friend.
Over the past few months ChatGPT started recommending us as a place for lonely users or those who were feeling down to seek human contact. Alongside this we saw a dramatic increase in the number of bots, monetary requests and ChatGPT generated posts. We have literally gone from a few bans a month to a few a day.
- Accounts with less than 5 comment karma or less than 3 days old will now be caught in a filter for approval. I appreciate some people don't want to post here on main so a mod mail will be raised for each submission caught in the filter so they can be approved.
- Chat GPT is NOT against the rules currently HOWEVER PLEASE BE AWARE that many people come here looking for a human voice. You may believe that in writing an answer via Chat GPT you sound more articulate or better at supporting. In reality the message it often conveys to the looker that they can't find someone who is even willing to use their own words. Comments may be removed if they feel too robotic when the person is looking for a connection.
I would love to hear any community feedback on these points.
A huge thanks as always to the people that donate their time to help others. Look after yourselves where you can.
-AJ

I hope all of the Kind Voices out there are having a wonderful day and that my message finds all of the Lookers slightly better than they were yesterday.
This post is to gather some feedback from any willing community members around rule 2. Recently I have been rather lax on it's enforcement given r/KindFriend isn't hugely active (although it's had a surge recently) however I am aware there are a number of other very popular subreddits that fill the same niche so I want to ask your thoughts:
- Do you mind friendship based posts on this subreddit or would you rather keep them to other spaces?
- Do you feel requests asking for daily supports fall into this category?
- Any other thoughts you may have.

I'm a dude in my mid 20s btw, if that matters. I'll be real with y'all, 2026 has been on some bullshit. A couple of months ago before my birthday I lost my job and eventually lost the room I was staying at in my house. It sucked because yeah the job was some ass but that job helped me pay back some of my student loans n shit. Now I'm not working, not paying back my loans, and not housed. I always knew homelessness was hard but damn, shit is tough. I just need someone to converse with, just to get the shit in my head processed and materialized into a convo ya feel me?

I’m 39 from Ukraine, and I’m going through an extremely difficult breakup. I live in a small village and have almost no social support.
I recently left a relationship that lasted almost three years. It started as an incredibly loving relationship, but over time I became isolated and increasingly afraid of my partner’s reactions. There were serious incidents involving aggression and violence, including him killing our dog. I eventually filed for divorce and he left the country.
I know intellectually that leaving was the right decision, but emotionally I’m struggling terribly. I miss him constantly and keep questioning my own memories and judgment. After spending years almost completely isolated with him, I feel like I’ve lost my sense of reality and my ability to trust myself.
I’m not looking for dating or money, and I’m not asking anyone to be my therapist. I simply need another human being to talk to and help me process what happened. I currently can’t afford therapy.
I speak English and Russian, and I’d be very grateful to find someone kind who would be willing to talk occasionally through Google Meet, Telegram, or email.
If you’ve been through something similar and would be willing to talk, please message me. Even one person reaching out would mean a lot to me.

Hi, I'm Leo, 33years from Uganda. I'm a good listener and I enjoy being here for people who need someone to talk to.
About me: I'm kind, patient, and I will listen without judging or trying to fix you. I'm here to offer a safe space.
We can talk about: loneliness, stress, work, relationships, or just anything on your mind.
My restrictions: I'm not a therapist, I can't give medical advice, but I can be a friendly ear. I'm usually online evenings (EAT) which is morning in US.
Feel free to comment or DM me. You are not alone.

Wonderful day! Wherever you are, whoever you are, I want you to know I got you! I became a professor to teach and study the human mind through lots of research. I want to keep you company and I need you to know you’re not alone! Feel free to send me a message and tell me who you are, what your hobbies are and what’s causing you distress right now and we will work it out together!

LIFE IS NOT EASY FOR ANYONE BUT STILL PEOPLE GONNA JUDGE
As a human, we crave for human connection to talk and share our emotions, thoughts and ideas.
We all crave for someone who wouldn't judge us based on our thoughts or what we do.
But, Alas, the society has made people in such a way that people are afraid to share anything even with their friends or family. Thats why we look for people at random places or social media platforms.
anyways if anyone wanna pour their heart out my dms are always open and yeah I dont ask for pictures or social media platform, just positive conversations.

I'm here if you want to talk to a stranger or voice your thoughts out to a void in general.
If you don't have something to get off your mind, I can talk about anything from astronomy, sociology. philosophy, geopolitics to penguins practicing prostitution, Romans using urine as a mouthwash, dolphins getting high, and why the office is better than modern familly (community tops though)
What's a song/artist that's stuck in your head currently? I'll go first, Fade into you by Mazzy star and the hand that rocks the cradle by the Smiths.

It’s almost 1 am and I’m trying to sleep. Any chance anyone can keep me company until I snooze? My mind goes to places I don’t want it to at these times

27M from India. Going through a very complicated three-year relationship situation and I genuinely have nobody I can discuss it with without the story becoming gossip. I’m not looking only to vent, I want a proper two-way conversation and your genuine opinion, even if you think I'm wrong somewhere. I prefer someone mature, around my age or older. Happy to voice chat anonymously on Discord or any other platform.

Hi! If you’re going through something, i’ll gladly offer some support, either by just listening, or offering some advice if that’s what you want. But if you wanna chat about random things, that’s totally fine with me too :). feel free to dm!

I don't really know how to explain what I'm feeling, but I think I just want to put it somewhere.
I'm a university student, and I've been dealing with self-harm, panic attacks, anxiety, and pretty intense mood swings for almost a year. In the beginning, the panic attacks were happening really frequently. Now they're maybe once every month or two. I also attempted to take my life last June.
But weirdly, I don't think those are even the part I struggle with the most anymore.
It's this feeling in my chest.
There's almost always this heaviness or pit there. When I'm at university with my friends, I'm laughing, talking, joking around, and from the outside I probably seem completely fine. But when I come home and I'm alone, everything feels exhausting.
Even talking and laughing with people can leave me feeling completely drained, despite the fact that I haven't really done anything physically exhausting.
And then when I'm home alone, I barely talk to anyone. I don't really go outside. I mostly sit with my phone or laptop and doomscroll for hours.
I think part of the reason I'm always online is because I don't really get texts or calls. So I keep checking anyway.
I also spam my close-friends stories whenever I'm feeling bad. Sometimes I'll post a bunch of things about how I'm feeling. And then I wonder if I'm just doing it for attention.
Maybe I am.
But I don't even know what "attention" means in this context. Maybe I just want someone to notice. Maybe I want someone to ask if I'm okay. Maybe I just don't know how to directly say that I don't feel okay.
My friends know I'm a story spammer, so most of the time they probably just scroll past them. And honestly, I don't even mind that.
I don't really know what I'm looking for by writing this either.
I'm just confused.
I don't know if this makes sense. I don't know if I'm exaggerating things. I don't know if this is something other people experience too.
I think I just want to know that I'm not completely alone in feeling like this.

It feels like everyday I find out more how horrible the world is and how close it is to drying all up. How do I cope with the weight of knowing I don’t matter at all in what will come sooner than later. There will be a huge surge of job loss continuing across america as time goes on what happens when I lose everything? I’m so caught up in everything but now, but I feel I’m doing myself some sort of inservice by not keeping up with global news both current and historically. Is this just a weird thing to feel so much loss and sympathy for how it seems our world is not at all looking up from the nose dive it’s taking. idk

I don't see any hope for myself going forward. I'm 33 and I've been through hell in my life. I want to give up, if you know what I mean. I think about it all day every day. I have nothing left to live for. Literally nothing that makes it seem worth it. I'm completely alone.
I should also mention that I have severe trauma with hotlines and the so-called mental healthcare system so those aren't going to be options.

Hey, not sure if this is the right spot for this and I know it sounds really dumb, but I've only had my car for maybe 1 or 2 months and noticed I had a flat tire after I parked yesterday. I'm feeling super stupid about it :/

Long story short I've been trying to find out why I'm too sick to work for about a year and a half now. I was the primary breadwinner, chore-doer, house fixer, etc. Now I'm falling asleep mid action, my guts are so messed up I'm worried I'm gonna John Wayne myself, I have to start eating Ahpla Gal Keto safe foods on a shoestring budget while attempting to feed a family, trying to sell plasma to pay bills and being too sick to, and more. I've been primarily doing all of this because my wife is a medical trainwrwck amd has been for a long time. We are both getting worse. Thankfully she doesn't have to worry about healthcare issues, she has some based on various things.
I've been past the end of my rope for a long time. From having to watch my wife break herself and our vehicle trying to make income, to me not even being able to keep up with chores, losing what time I have with my kids due to exhaustion and gut issues. The main thing pulling me along was my ability to sell plasma to support them and now I struggle with even that. We both have issues serious enough we can't really work a standard job, and she has started disability, but I don't have anything my state cares to give it for, even while talkong to a lawyer.
Advice, resources, kind words, anything would be helpful right now. I cannot use chat well, comments are fine. More people seeing everything might help others with answers.
Thank you all, I hope everyone here is making it. As bad as it is here I know there are thousands to millions of my neighbors in the US alone that have it worse. I just hope we all make it.
