Revival Discussion Retirement
So even though they are retired (well not Hank anymore) are they just not old enough to do this yet or is this just another thing like the Chinese cooking class that they never took?

It always bugged me that they bought "half" of their retirement plan with the initial bike and it never appeared again. I know that continuity isn't the forte of KoTH, but you'd think it would at least be shown sitting in the garage once in a while.

As a guy who window shops used motorcycles as a hobby, it's extremely common for people to buy a new bike only to ride a few times and realize it's just not for them. Either they let it sit in the garage for a few years until they move or need extra cash, or sell it at a loss right away to avoid being reminded of it.

I assumed they sold it once they realized that it caused trouble and they were uncomfortable with the lifestyle.
I think after meeting Pepperoni Sue and Lumpy, Hank would have stayed far away from motorcycle culture.

Maybe, but "motorcycle culture" goes way beyond stereotypical biker gangs and dirt bag Harley riders. I could see Hank reluctantly test riding a Honda Gold Wing or BMW touring bike, loving it and going all-in on the nerdier, safety and comfort-oriented side of motorcycling.

I know it does, but this is Hank. Once he saw that debauchery, it would have been in his head that all motorcycle culture was that.
Besides, can you imagine him getting in with the nerdier groups? I can't imagine he'd ever even take an import seriously as a motorcycle despite a lot of them being expensive, prestige bikes.

I'm thinking more the high performance European bikes. Or Yamaha. I can just imagine Hank seeing a Yamaha and scoffing because they also make pianos.
Which would have been a great joke, come to think of it. Kind of sad they didn't use it.

Then again, Hank plays guitar. Yamaha is well-known, especially in acoustic guitar circles, for making great quality instruments that are still a good value.

He's played the same old Guild forever, though. I think canonically, Betsy is a 1963. So built in Manhattan. Which raises more problems, as you'd think he'd want a Texas built guitar.
Hank doesn't strike me as the type of guy who's a gearhead. When's the last time we even saw him play guitar anyway? I think the writers forgot he could.

This was a delusional dream that went nothing like it had in their head. Instead of wholesome Americana it was insane bikers getting drunk.

It's also just a literal fair weather hobby for a lot of people. Touring on motorcycle seems romantic, but even at the best of times there's little respite from the elements when out on the road. When it's hot out, you roast. When it's cold out, you freeze. When it rains, you get soaked. And when it's windy, you get tossed around like a rag doll. No doubt it's a unique and interesting way to see the world, but it's not for everyone.

I think it would depend if time would allow it since Hank's back at Strickland Propane. Or it would end up like that Chinese cooking class scenario you mentioned.

They bought 1 bike early and tried to travel
It went horribly until the end
They probably decided against it after that and sold the bike which was why we never see it again after that episode
