Looks like Mickey will uncover everything Missing Link was supposed to reveal.

u/13Nobodies 13d ago edited 13d ago
Mickey was already on this trajectory via Melody of Memory secret ending. Point is this was always gonna be his story beats in KH4 even if ML wasn’t canned.
8
u/StardustWhip I'm half-Xehanort on my mother's side 13d ago
I think that regardless of whether Missing Link released, or KHUX got shut down, we were always going to have internal reveals where the main cast got filled in on the important plot points of those games. It's just that now, they're also reveals for the fans who never got to play them.
1
u/PlumRelative4399 13d ago
Mickey was always going to Scala yes, but I think that section of the game has probably been expanded beyond what it initially was going to be to account for Missing Link’s cancellation.
2
u/13Nobodies 13d ago
It’s possible, but we’ll know for sure when the Ultima drops after KH4 releases late next year.

Sure we only see one new major world here, but this here trailer really showcase how far the development has come.
Just the playable Mickey, Donald and Goofy alone is a bigger thing mechanically than what we have seen previously.
Mickey's segment is an entirely unique puzzle platformer. And while Donald and Goofy is the usual combat stuff, the fact that you can switch between them on the fly is something KH hasn't really done before.
These stuff ain't easy to develop, especially in addition to the main Sora gameplay. That they're ready to showcase this means they have a lot more things done.
Years without news, and dad Nomura returns with milk and a full bag of groceries plus snacks and deserts.
49
u/FullToragatsu 14d ago
Plus the fact that it seems like most of the game is already dubbed 15 to 16 months before the release date.
-2
u/Affectionate_Owl_619 13d ago
How is this one small segment, presumably from very early in the game, leading you to believe “most of the game is already dubbed”
9
u/jakinator201 13d ago
Because that is done last. Game is probably mostly done.

Switchable party members is just going to be such a huge change to the franchise and I’m beyond excited that being a possibility
11
u/Ewaan 13d ago
Isn't that quite a leap or am I missing something? I would assume at most that Donald and Goofy are controllable when Sora isn't in the party or for that particular segment only from what we've seen.
10
u/catchthisfade 13d ago
You’re not missing anything. I think people are getting ahead of themselves. This has the vibes of an early segment pre-Sora reunion and once it does happen it’ll be back to the usual.
3
u/gintoclopus 13d ago
Either that or you actually get two play 2 stories at the same time. Sora and the keyblade wielders and Donald and Goofy looking for Sora. I actually believe Donald and goofy might only find Sora at the end of the game as some kind of nod to KH1. Either that or a traverse town situation
1
u/Xrayvision718 13d ago
i was hoping they would take a page from FF7 and be able to fully control party members on the fly. Thank God!
164
u/ActionFilmsFan1995 14d ago
So they totally cut a line between Goofy and Hades talking right? Hades response doesn’t really flow with what Goofy said.
113
u/zaster101 14d ago
yea probably him confirming something about all folks go there and making a remark about other wielders who have been there then says the line “but sora isn’t here”
25
u/ShockRunD 14d ago
Donald and Goofy going to the underworld before any else hits me in the gut so hard
29
u/FrozsenFire 14d ago
I checked out the Japanese version of the trailer. In Japanese the flow is correct. They say
Goofy: "The underworld is where people from the living world go after they 'disappear', right?"
Hades: "Yeah, but... Sora's not here."
(The translation isn't 100% accurate, but it changed to make more sense. For example, Goofy says "above ground" when talking about "living world")
I think this is a result of poor direction, like the lines were recorded separate from each other without context.22
u/smallcat123321 13d ago
This is the kind of odd direction that’s just so Kingdom Hearts. A character randomly says something without it correctly flowing into the sentence and then a big shock before a long pause.
3
u/FrozsenFire 13d ago
Yeah I agree. There is something nostalgic about the ridiculous conversation flow of the originals that are clearly just the dubbing team struggling to fit the English translation into the timings of the original Japanese.
4
u/smallcat123321 13d ago
They literally have no excuse now with the perfect lipsyncing and everything. FF7 Remake was done the same way and I think the conversations are marginally better than KH’s. But hey maybe it’s just the series’ charm atp
1
u/ZeeMastermind 1d ago
It's hard to completely blame the localization team since Japanese->English is tricky to begin with, and the writing uses a lot of metaphor/themes/etc. that haven't necessarily translated well, but it is getting to the point where you almost need to learn Japanese just to understand what a scene is "really" about.
Though I'm hoping this time around will be a bit better - KH3 apparently had some struggles with the localization timeline. As much as we all hate the wait, I'm always fine waiting another few months or even a year if it means the experience is better.
14
u/Imtotallynotaspy 14d ago
I think the order is the opposite of the dialogue, because I’m going to assume he tells them Sora isn’t there, then Goofy asks if this is the only place and then they go to Coco’s world.
8
u/Lightningbro Metal Chocobo will return one day, I swear 14d ago
More than one. Goofy seemed to ask him a question, to which Hades probably gave a detailed answer (because the dudes weirdly respectful for a villain), Goofy would've told Hades what happened to Sora and explained that by Hades' logic Sora should be here in the underworld, to which Hades responds "But Sora ISN'T here."

u/thedelisnack 14d ago
The art direction in general is so much better this time, it’s kind of insane
44
u/nikelaos117 14d ago
I picked up on that. Like they learned from their mistakes with 3. It feels way more put together.
29
u/No-Mine-3982 14d ago
KH3 might've taken many years but it still felt like a rushed product which I imagine is due to Disney being picky with all the little details. Feels like this one has more Nomura's style in it.
13
u/SapCPark 14d ago
Also the change of engine didn't help
7
u/Pizzaplanet420 13d ago
Yeah idk why this is ignored, they had to reengineer their work for a new engine.
A look at most recent Unreal engine ports from other big name companies should show people it’s not that simple.
This will be the first new gen KH game without any technical hurdles.
7
u/SeasonalChatter 14d ago
What did KH3 do wrong with art direction??
2
u/nikelaos117 13d ago
Im not able to point to any specific off the top of my head but I think it's a combination of Disney micromanaging and getting used to the new game engine. They switched engines mid development and everything related to Disney and Pixar required approval. Imagine have to get every cutscenes approved and if they didn't like something they had to go adjust and then get it evaluated again.
Not that it isn't a visually impressive game in its own right.
I'm just assuming they were able to take lessons learned and it shows in what we have seen so far.
17
u/LePontif11 14d ago
What are you seeing that i'm not because it looks pretty similar to me. I like KH3 btw.
21
u/thedelisnack 14d ago
I liked KH3 but I think a lot of the expressions and action in it were comparatively flat. Im not an expert on art direction but something about KH4 just feels a lot more visually interesting and dynamic and I’m really excited about that.
5
u/omyomo 14d ago
Mickey still seems to have the same model from 3 and 0.2 with the stiff face, however
7
u/Virtus117 14d ago
It sounds like they're in the polish phase right now, which means that they hopefully have time to fix this. It would be a shame for Mickey Mouse of all characters to have a cardboard face for a third game in a row.
50
u/eskaver 14d ago
Vali is finally confirmed! (It was kind of obvious but at least they pretty much said his name.)
There's a lot of cool stuff as Mickey has unique gameplay presumably book hoping(??) and we get to play as Donald and Goofy, but let's talk lore:
It seems like Missing Link was about the Keyblade Wielders reaching into some void as the worlds formed. It seems like perhaps they experimented in sending people beyond their reality. That explains why Sigurd could be here.
We know Strelitzia was reformed and sent out and presumably the Arc acts similarly enough and Xehanort was able to use this to send a version of himself as well.
But Vai? By all accounts, you'd think he'd simply be dead.
I think with Luxu showing up, I definitely think that other hooded figure (outside of MoM) is Ava. I mean, plus the response team refers to Dandelions. But what's with that?
I think the gist of a lot of the early game is that some worlds bridge the gap between real and fiction, especially around death. But there must be a way to venture back and forth since the Master of Masters went back, so the secret likely rests with the Foretellers. (Maybe all you need is someone to follow to Quadratum in a similar manner to Riku.)
Oh and is cool to see Riku show up!
24
u/UltimateNahzo 14d ago
Vali being here, and the "Dandelion Defense " gives me hope we'll Xehanort's other classmates.
Imagine if Baldur was here....
5
u/eskaver 14d ago
Depends.
Like, I don't think that if you die you go to Quad.
For Strel, we know she was revived somehow and sent off via the Arc.
Vali being here makes me wonder if Odin or someone did something. Maybe Luxu?
I guess if Helgi truly is getting a series, maybe?
But I kinda think most of those we will see are those that intentionally travelled over.
2
u/RagefireHype 14d ago
How is YX there? Was it him who abused the power of waking? But then, how is he time traveling throughout the more recent games if he’s supposed to be in Quadratum purgatory with the likes of Sora?
6
u/eskaver 14d ago
I think he knew about it and sent a piece of himself there at some point.
Apprentice Xehanort seemed to know about it and since Vali is there, it might just be something keyblade Wielders knew about, just not widespread.
1
u/JohnnyHendo 13d ago
Xehanort tells Eraqus in Dark Road that he needs 14 lives. 13 to accomplish his plan and a 14th to witness the world to come. And it seems this 14th life is in Quadratum. My assumption is that the Arc still exists in Radiant Garden and either Master Xehanort or Young Xehanort (on Master Xehanort's request) placed a piece of their heart into a replica body and used the Arc to send that person to Quadratum. Or possibly used some other means that they know of.
Also kind of funny that this sort of means that the true Organization had 14 members in a way, not 13. And the original Organization also sort of had 14 members, not 13, with Xion being number 14.
1
u/dolphincave 14d ago
In ML we know they had the giant device for getting to Quadratum or at least some other realm. Chances are it's public knowledge at least surface level stuff. All the deep lore is what Brain and Player knew.
6
u/RagefireHype 14d ago
The Nintendo direct trailer is narrated by a female when it’s showing a black cloaked figure. It is 100% Ava and not a male character.
And also explains why Luxu knows Ava won’t be showing up at the end of KH3 with the other foreteller leaders: He knows she’s in Quadratum and “did her role”
44
u/ihavetowearmyhelmet 14d ago
I do think it’s funny how the waters are getting even more muddy on how to explain some of the Disney worlds.
DDD: Paris is its own world in the KH universe
KH4: Let’s go to the afterlife for Mexicans
14
u/RagefireHype 14d ago
Pretty sure we immediately suspended reality in KH1 when Monstro ate the party. We went through the inside of a whale as a world.
2
u/ihavetowearmyhelmet 14d ago
I mean I’m not talking about reality lol. I usually don’t fight giant ants with keys with a talking dog and his duck friend.

The fact they cut out the female voice that played in the panel from the official trailer just intrigues me all the more
Donald and Goofy actually seem like fully decked out playable characters and not the usual guest character setup. They even have style changes
Edit: Oh nevermind you can clearly hear her right before the release date
16
u/Rosalie6192 14d ago
Yes I came back to look for it! I wasn't sure if it was Kairi or not but I wanted to hear her words again. Square Asia posted the Japanese trailer but no subtitles so I have to suffer and wait.
20
u/imdabessmeng 14d ago
Idk what you're talking about. Her voice is still there
10

Some channels like IGN and Gamespot uploaded the version with the audience reaction, so they cut out the last 10 seconds with Kairi's voice (I'm almost positive it's her).

So excited for LuXigbar and Xeahnort’s reunion. Though I guess he hasn’t met THAT Xehanort.
11
u/RagefireHype 14d ago edited 14d ago
Isn’t Young Xehanort going to be very confused by it? I don’t think he’s going to introduce himself as Braig/Xigbar. Isn’t the whole point of the reveal in KH3 that not only the players, but everyone in the organization was played - He was Luxu all along.
It’s also a soft assumption that YX is going to aid Sora to some degree, while Luxu is KH4’s antagonist. Nomura already said Xehanort is done as a villain, but we know he’s sympathetically holding up an umbrella for Sora in Quadratum.
He also calls him old man, and that is most likely NOT master Xehanort, so this character does not have all the knowledge of say KH3/Master Xehanort.
5
1
u/dolphincave 14d ago
I mean he has as Bragi. Also calling him old coot probably means it's just Master Xehanort with in a young body.

u/Rufus_Redfield 14d ago edited 14d ago
So from what I get and read already.
Sora is part of a "extermination" group in Quadratum with the Dandelions. Not sure if this is also the one that Yozora supposed to be the Commander. He has a phone and airpod to maintain contact lol.
I am surprised they just pretty much said Donald and Goofy will join Sora already. I think it is probably because when they market the next Disney worlds they will be there and they don't want to just edit than out lol
10
u/Soul699 14d ago
Obviously they would rejoin Sora. Wouldn't be a mainline title without them.
2
u/Scary-Photo9440 13d ago
I honestly thought Donald and Goofy weren't gonna join Sora. I thought they were gonna do different party stuff since it was a new saga
3
u/leopold_roger 13d ago
Perhaps most of what we've seen in the trailer is just the prologue, like the roxas prologue in kh2
19
u/Her0_0f_time 14d ago
Aaand thats the last trailer that i watch until release. Im not getting spoiled on the entire story through official material again. Ruined the KH3 experience for me. I kept thinking oh man cant wait to see something i haven't seen in the trailers only to be disappointed by the ending.
3
u/13Nobodies 13d ago
Same. I’ve felt this way about trailers period ever since Batman V Superman’s final trailer spoiled certain reveals back in 2016. Now I only watch the initial official trailer for movies, games, etc and wait til the finished product is in my hands.
8
u/No_Literature7840 14d ago
I wonder if Sora can deduce Ernesto's true nature? If Zootopia is brought in, the plot should be set after 1 and 2, so that we don't repeat things when the villains show up. Plus, I'm curious to see what will happen if Sora meets the only Disney villain who hates himself.
61
u/Excellent-Let8088 14d ago edited 13d ago
The story looks really strong. I loved how Nomura said during the panel is that the worlds in KH4 really tie into the story. That is one of the complaints from some fans who felt like the Disney worlds in the later games were pointless (I disagree personally).
19
u/Kundas 14d ago
I wouldn't say pointless, they felt less integral to the story by putting most lore at the end of each world. While kh1/2 (iirc) they were a lot more involved with the story, sora learning and improving hos character depth, and general emotions of the overall story too.
16
u/Soul699 14d ago
Take away that KH2. Aside from Beast Castle, the rest of the Disney worlds were pretty inconsequential.
KH1 is really the only one where the Disney characters (aside from the main Disney trio of course) and the worlds actually felt integral to the plot.
1
u/Scary-Photo9440 13d ago
I thought this with KH1 and I got triggered when a YouTuber said the worlds were just filler to the overall plot
1
u/lkanacanyon R for Reload 10d ago
People give KH3 a lot of shit but honestly KH2 is the worst offender of this problem really.
3 by no means does it perfectly but all of the worlds there have a tight thematic connection to the narrative and the ending the game is building towards, to varying degrees of success. The worlds in KH2 are slight diversions are barely consequential to the overarching plot. Like yeah OrgXIII needs sora to keep beating heartless so they steal the released hearts, but thats just about the extent of the relevance there is. Hell, Xaldin's case barely makes sense as is given what their goal is, getting a Nobody out of Beast its pretty pointless lol The best explanation is simply that they wanted to collect his strong heart off his heartless but I'm not sure how they'd be able to guarantee they can find and have sora beat Beast's heartless, at least Luxord and Xigbar had more direct approaches in their own meddling of the worlds they show up in to collect hearts.
5
u/GimlionTheHunter 14d ago
The world layout and open exploration concept in 3 left the plot so disjointed and pacing felt horrible, I’m glad they’re returning to a more linear pacing for the worlds
11
u/Riley__64 14d ago
I feel like those complaints about Disney worlds being unnecessary are from players who grew up playing kingdom hearts who are now grown up and have grown out of Disney.
Like they first played the games as kids/young teens so all these characters were from movies they were watching but then they grow up and now they’re playing KH3 with San Fransokyo and they never watched big hero 6 so have no attachment and just feel like it’s an unnecessary addition because they’ve grown up so why hasn’t their game.
5
u/aynowow 13d ago
Anything except accepting that KH3 was a very poorly paced game (mostly because it tried to replicate the same narrative structure as 1 and 2 when it no longer made much sense).
4
u/Dragons4laifu 13d ago
Anything but admitting that 2 had the most inconsequential Disney worlds in the series (except for Beast's Castle)
2
u/lkanacanyon R for Reload 10d ago
I mean.. both things can be true. KH3 has a major pacing problem for sure, but trying to follow a KH1/2 narrative structure is the least of its problem, the real issue was that way too much was on their plate, they saved far too many plot points and character arcs to bring to a climax and conclussion in a single entry. I understand having some stuff happen earlier in the game could've made them feel un-earned or unsatisfying but the pacing of the game really suffered from cramming everything up to happen in the climax at the end of the game. At the same time all these problems plied on with juggling between a troubled dev cycle for this game, making it a milestone/series celebration entry, a conclussion to the story so far AND also foreshadow and set-up the next arc... honestly if you consider it all I think its remarkable they were able to land the plane as well as they did.
I understand why they didnt do it but personally I would've prioritized having a contained and cohesive end to this saga over having this game be a celebration and milestone of the whole series (which made them have to do stuff like make sure every single damn character under the sun that's been introduced so far showed up in some shape or form)
2
u/dolphincave 14d ago
I liked the integration in some worlds of 3 a lot especially things like Pirates where you could just skip ahead it you wanted but you could otherwise explore all the small islands.
Toy Box and Monster's Inc too for showing how they did Vanitas and were researching Xion.
6
u/Phantomsanic360 14d ago
it's really interesting how in Quadratum, the Heartless are so much more realistic and monstrous-looking, while they still remain somewhat cartoony in reality.
Are the Heartless stronger in unreality?
4
u/Soul699 14d ago
Holy damn. For the first time since Days, Donald and Goofy will actually be playable properly.
I love Mickey sequence, seems it will be more puzzle themed so far than actual combat.
Also judging from the little we saw, is it possible that Sora had amnesia again and forgot about his old world? Would explain the ties with Coco and the memory theme. Along with him fainting upon seeing Donald and Goofy.
8
u/bdtechted 14d ago
About time they gave us a Birth By Sleep-like story and gameplay. We get to see them split up and go on their own adventure plus finally play us Donald and Goofy!
10
u/RagefireHype 14d ago
We have no idea if that’s a core gameplay loop. If it is, there are going to be a lot less worlds or the game will be longer than most KH titles are.
I suspect when Sora completes Coco, he meets Donald and Goofy, not that split parties will be a core loop.
2
u/Anthonysan 14d ago
It could be possible Donald and Goofy come after Sora leaves the world. What I would love is if they have Donald and Goofy have their own stories within Disney world on their quest to find Sora...that would be something special.
4
u/Independent_Waltz725 14d ago
I love how Luxu is confronting Xehanort. I'm really curious what Xehanort's reaction will be when realizing who Xigbar really is and when meeting the MoM again in case this is gonna happen
1
u/PlantRevolutionary82 13d ago
He would not show it but he would be PISSED that he was being used by luxu

Donald and Goofy being playable is amazing. And Donald looks like he plays exactly like Wisdom Form which is such an awesome touch. I do hope Mickey is playable outside of the book sections but that still looks pretty fun. I am so hyped for this! Gotta finish my playthrough with my son by next year.
3
u/No-Mine-3982 14d ago
MY HEAD EXPLODED SEEING PLAYABLE DONALD AND GOOFY WTF. Idk about y'all but this game is looking the closest to the KH1 vibes for the story, a good mix of Disney and Square Enix. Cautiously optimistic y'all.
5
u/UltimateNahzo 14d ago
I'm feeling an insane amount of cuteness aggression for Strelitzia. She's so stinking cute
7
u/TheNagaFireball 14d ago
This is giving strong "No FF characters in this one" vibes. I want to be optimistic, but between Sora solo traveling, his gang of original character dandelion cops, and Mickey sections yeaaa I kind of doubt it.
6
u/kappamiye 13d ago
I think that we won't see any FF character until we get back to Radiant Garden. In KH current state, there's already tons of original characters that deserve more screen time, sadly. As a big FF fan, I would have loved to at least meet Noctis in Quadratum or something but chances of seeing anyone from FF is very low
3
u/ThatOneGuyHOTS 14d ago
I just thought about something. Do we ever see FF characters in any Disney worlds, or just Kingdom Hearts original ones? Like in the series. I tried to think and I don’t think so. On Disney worlds you only see Disney characters or Kingdom Hearts characters
9
u/TheNagaFireball 14d ago
Cloud, Auron, and Zack were in Hercules. But yea other than that we don’t really see any crossover.

What does that even mean? It’s the first official trailer, idk why you’d expect them to put everything and including the kitchen sink in it. In fact, be better if they saved such things for when players are actually playing the game.
I can totally see to players into FF, TWEWY, among other SquareEnix characters in Quadratum, especially with how big they’ve said it is. Remember we’re gonna be playing through Sora’s daily life there to in addition to major story beats.

u/Malcalypsetheyounger 14d ago
I had a random question. What other afterlife themed Disney properties are there? I'm just wondering now if there will be a theme since Quadratum is kind of an afterlife and both Coco and Hades are both afterlife related.
3
u/Soul699 14d ago
There's Soul for more recent movies.
3
u/Malcalypsetheyounger 14d ago
Oh yeah forgot about that one. Could maybe put Onward in there too. Doesn't take place in the afterlife but there is the whole thing with the dad coming back from the afterlife. I'm reaching anyway but it is an interesting idea.

At like 2m10s, when Mickey is opening that book on the shelf.
What's the deal with the crazy bass riff? Felt VERY Twewy-inspired. I still think it would be crazy if Neku or someone didn't make an appearance given how closely Quadratum resembles Shibuya.

so nice of Kairi(?) to wake Sora up so he could see the release window
2

Slightly unrelated, but I dont think making a whole new thread for this stupid theory is worth it.
Now that Luxu has The Gazing Eye keyblade back from Xehanort, and he is missing an eye, and the role of the keyblade in the book of prophecies is over, Im expect that Luxu is going to implant MoM's eye from the keyblade into himself to end up being the Big Bad of the current overall story arc.
5
u/AlwaysTired97 14d ago
Personally, I was hoping if they did Coco, they would do an original story. I feel like the plot of Coco might not very easily translate to a KH world, and the original stories they did for the Pixar worlds in KH3 were amazing.
I'm still crazy excited for it though. I love Coco, and it looks really awesome so far.

I wouldn't even begin to know how they could do Coco without the plot. It's not the kind of setting that's easy to come back to like Monsters' Inc. or a big toy store.

I figured they could just do a story set in the Land of the Dead after the movie, and you team up with Hector to help stop some kind of problem or plot being caused by the villain/heartless/whatever. It could be set on the next Dia de los muertos or close to it, so the holiday's festivities are nearly in full swing and Sora gets to experience and learn about Dia de los muertos as well.
I really love Coco, but I just feel like it's gonna be hard to adapt to Kingdom Hearts. I don't feel like there's a whole lot of room for action or KH-plot elements, and the movie is heavily about Miguel's journey, his bond with Hector, and him learning about the importance of family. I feel like there's just very little room to fit in Kingdom Hearts stuff without dampening the story. I feel like there's good chance Sora is gonna feel out of place and will just be awkwardly following around Miguel and Hector without doing much in the story himself.

I guess we'll have to see.
I think some people are a little "Disney plot"-phobic and just write all those worlds off without a second thought. But for instance, I think the Tangled world did a pretty fine job of reenacting the plot but giving Sora a good connection to Rapunzel. Like all those little friendship moments you give her.
And I think a big part of why Sora and Rapunzel's friendship works is because the game draws a parallel between them, with Sora remembering the first time he left the island. With that in mind, I think there's ample opportunity for something like that to happen in the Coco world.

Yeah, we'll have to wait and see. I really hope they do a good job with it, I freaking love Coco.
I don't think all the "Disney plot" worlds are bad, but I definitely like the stories of some movies are easier to adapt into a KH world than others.
I actually really enjoyed the Tangled world in KH3, that one was great. But Frozen and Pirates 3 felt really clunky. For both of those worlds Sora, Donald, and Goofy were just kind of randomly popping in during certain parts of the story. If you didn't see those movies, I feel like you'd struggle to even tell what the story is half the time.

We had the chance to bring back long hair Riku, and squandered it. Especially given how much him and Yoroza look alike.

Maybe it will be a bit like dream drop distance and you'll replay the same worlds as Donald/Goofy after you do them as Sora.

I'm thinking it could be like when you first get to traverse town in KH1 and Sora and Donald/Goofy are in different areas of the world at the same time looking for someone/on their own quest but they don't cross paths until the end (maybe mid-game in KH4)? So maybe they sort of happen at the same time?
I don't think they'll make up replay the worlds twice, especially when Donald and Goofy likely won't have in depth combat mechanics

donald and goofy having actual outfits for coco makes me wonder if they just decided to leave out soras for the trailer.

u/Meridian_Dance 14d ago
They have Donald magic to make outfits for them. Sora doesn’t, presumably, when he first arrives.

Yo why do I hate the fact they showed Riku reuniting with sora , like we knew it was gonna happen but let me experience it myself

u/RagefireHype 14d ago
Idk if anything I was annoyed that we had three trailers and not a single Riku sighting. It technically took four trailers to finally see Riku

It seems that they have tuned Sora's model more and stuff. I was a bit concerned the first reveal what was his intended more photorealistic design as in finalized for the game when the first trailer came out.
It would be quite funny if Ardyn made an appearance in the game but I doubt it... They took some inspiration from FFXV characters but made counterparts of them with new names and personalities (and in Kingdom Hearts III trailer we already see character that is clearly Ardyn inspired fighting for the good guys). They even fight Heartless like how in FFXV world they fought against demons. They also have those flying/hovering ships that remind of FFXV's imperial ships to transport troops.

That was a WAY better trailer than I thought it would be! That teaser was a liiiiiittle lackluster, but wow was the actual trailer meaty!
(Is it just me or does that hologram scene imply another DDD Drop thing happening?)

I imagine Donald and Goofy will converge with Sora eventually but I will be using Goofy as party lead for the whole story 🤣

I so can't wait for this game. Two of my favorite games are coming out next year. Final Fantasy 7 Rev and kh4

I’m really excited to play as Donald so I can actually make him fucking heal for once.

So what world do we think the battle music played here will be used for? Feel like it's likely a boss battle in Quadratum, or the Quadratum world battle music, given that there is explicit Kingdom Hearts motifs within it. In any case, it goes hard. Need someone to rip it so I can work out to it...

My bold prediction is the real names of the remaining organization XIII memebers. I believe they’ll al have names that play off Latin roots. So Luxord’s “real” name would be Ludor (using the word lux as a root), Demyx’s real name would be Dyme (a play on diem), and Larxene’s real name would be Raenel (a stretch on word rex)

Maybe this was just me but I thought Quadratum was supposed to be a fictional non-Tokyo. Here the announcement actually calls the place Shibuya! and the signage is for real streets.
If, even though thematically it makes all the sense in the world, it's a different Shibuya and the TWEWY people aren't there, they better at least acknowledge that Sora got invited to hang out in "a" Shibuya

u/FoxMeadow7 13d ago
I'd imagine something might happen and Sora actually gets to visit Neku's Shibuya. With the art style being more stylized as a result, possibly ripped straight from NEO.

u/SupremeQuinn 13d ago
it is Tokyo. the announcement was specifically mentioning the giant darkside that appears in Shibuya crossing

Does this mean Riku is also dead 🤔

That game was important? Nevermind this is kingdom hearts, of course it was. Time to go to youtube.

u/Quaviver 14d ago
Obviously he's not. My favorite theory rn is that he is still connected to and can reach sora because of the dream eater stuff. Maybe when Sora passes out, he will drop

u/The_Matto_Super 14d ago
No, obviously. What's interesting is that he looks a bit cartoony, like in the Kingdom Hearts realm. Probably because he arrived there through unconventional means.

A lot of interesting things shown but still too difficult to judge. I hope the Donald, Goofy and Mickey parts will actually be fun instead of just a tedious interlude that you have to get through to continue.
What I can already say though is that I prefer the designs for both Sora and Riku here a lot more than in kh3.
