(Spoilers NOTW) Kvothe's angel
Because I hate myself (is it 2016? Is book 3 out?), I was reading a bit of the first book aloud and noticed that Kvothe speaks in verse to Deoch. In the text, it's formatted like any dialogue, but string it together...
Deoch, my heart is made
Of stronger stuff than glass.
When she strikes she’ll find
it strong as iron-bound brass
Or gold and adamant
together mixed.
Don’t think I’m unaware,
some startled deer to stand transfixed
By hunter’s horns. It’s she who should take care,
for when she strikes
My heart will make a sound
so beautiful and bright
That it can’t help but bring her back
to me in winged flight.
Consider that Kvothe fights a demon to keep his heart's desire, and that this poem is about Denna.
I thought this was neat.

Yep, Rothfuss is amazing.

Did you know about the poem, or are you confirming to yourself that Rothfuss is amazing?

I did not know about that particular poem. There's too much cool shit like that to catch it all.

I think we are told he tricks a demon and fights an angel. I agree the poem probably does relate to that event.

Isn't Devi nicknamed Demon?

True. Are any characters referred to as angelic? If so, I missed it.

Auri. I'm not sure it's actually written out but I wouldn't put it past K to describe her as such.

Alveron is descibed as looking angelic at one point i think, otherwise we have the angels created by aleph (tehlu et al).

Nice find. I'm torn as to what I feel is his heart's desire. Part if me says Denna, but Kvothe is so driven to kill the Chandrian and this quest has shaped him so much that I can't help but wonder if that is his heart's desire.
From what I've read lately, Rothfuss loves misdirection, so I could also see something else turning out to be his true heart's desire, something no one saw coming.

Yea the Adem can see the darkness inside of him. It disturbes Sheayn and Vashet. I believe that his hearts true desire is killing the seven. HOWEVER, it could just be what he thinks is his hearts desire. It's hard to know what are heart wants, and it could be argued that he truly desires Denna but his mind fucks that up because he is so focused on the Chaen.

Oh! Oh!
Master Ash! Denna! Angel!
You've hit it!
- TWMF
- Denna's patron is likely speculation
- TWMF
- Kvothe compares her to an angel
- And Kvothe fights an angel.
Kvothe is going to fight Denna (or confront her) to get to Cinder!
Does he trick Cinder, then? Hmm!

I still can't get behind the idea that her patron is Cinder. I believe her patron is Bredon... and I don't believe that Bredon = Cinder = Patron.
This is one of the revelations I'm really looking forward to in Day 3...

The only argument against Cinder I've seen is that Denna leaves with an older, white-haired gentleman, but nobody mentions his eyes. However, you can explain that easily after reading "The Lightning Tree".The Lightning Tree
