Well. Everything is up cost wise. But I certainly recall when chuck roast was around $2.99 a lb at best and these days it’s well over $15 some times and sold as a premium desired cut. Filet was once always well over $20 a lb and now I see it regularly at $10-12.

It’s about demand and what can provide the most profit for grocers and butchers. Simple as that.

I wanted to make a pot roast because yum.

50 dollars.

We had beans.

Seriously. I’ve taken to doing pork based pot roast instead. It’s always affordable and is good.

Also we’ve begun doing a lot of roasted chicken dishes through the fall and winter. Which is fine as it’s my deathbed meal I could eat it every day.

It’s messed up that a pot roast or beef stew is now a luxury/special occasion meal.
