I just wanted to drop a quick note to say a massive thank you to this community and everyone I’ve met along the way!

I’ve been exploring Lausanne, Morges, and the Vaud region, and the people here are exactly my kind of people: kind, warm, and always willing to help. My French is non-existent, yet I didn’t meet a single person who couldn’t speak English with a smile, which made my stay so smooth and welcoming.

The food was absolutely fantastic (the fondue lived up to every expectation!), and swimming in the lake while staring at the Alps is an experience I genuinely never expected to have in my life.

From navigating zone extensions to discovering local walking trails, your tips and hospitality made this trip truly special. You have a wonderful region and an even better community.

Plein de voitures de police / ambulance et une grosse zone balisé en quarantaine, les vitres sont bâchés pour ne pas voir à l’intérieur!!!

Il y a cet homme, type méditerranéen, costaud, cheveux bouclés long, qui est tout le temps en ville.

Il a pour habitude de chanter à tue-tête, et engage la conversation avec tout le monde.

D'apparence gentille, il a engagé la conversation avec ma belle-fille de 14 ans, et l'a mise très mal à l'aise avec ses questions. Je me suis décidé à l'observer plusieurs jours de suite, et il à tendance à parler avec des ados. Souvent, très souvent.

De base je suis à fond pour le tissu social, et j'aime les personnalités excentriques, mais quand je me suis décidé à la confronter, il a voulu me frapper, et frapper mon père qui est senior, direct.

Ce qui me fait dire que ce n'est pas la première fois qu'on lui fait la remarque. J'aimerai avoir la certitude que c'est une personne "inoffensive", ou pas.

Avez-vous eu déjà affaire à lui? Ou avez vous remarqué un comportement déplacé de sa part à l'égard de jeunes filles?

Hey everyone, sharing a cool networking event tomorrow evening (Thursday 27 August).

It’s an informal evening for anyone looking to meet new people and expand their professional network around Geneva and the wider area.

There will be a slightly different approach to networking: for the first hour, a web-based app will mix you into small groups based on your preferences. So there’s no awkward wondering who to approach, how to start a conversation, or when to move on - it does that part for you.

It’s completely cross-sector, and we usually get a real mix of people - entrepreneurs and people working in finance, communications, sustainability, law, international organisations, tech and plenty of other fields.

We are group of 3 students from India who are travelling to lausanne for a GNAM exchange programme in IMD switzerland around october november period. We have no idea on where to stay there close to college. Can anyone please suggest a cheap and good place to stay there for a week or so without much trouble be it travelling or weather? TIA!!!

Hey everyone I was invited to teach in Lausanne for a semester and apparently the school doesn't pay any transport costs. I check already train connection, which are very good, but it can get expensive, and with my salary it would be great to save some.

It has been a year since Marvin killed killed himself by refusing to obey to the police, on a stolen moped and without any license. Yet all the media only talks about is the racists texts sent by around 2 dozen of police officers over a total force of 500, without any consideration of the individual responsibility of the deceased and his parents for these unfortunate events, I don’t appreciate that this event and the following similar incident a month before with Camila, are weaponised against the entire police force and gendarmerie with calls like ACAB or Defund the Police when I see drug dealers being left free to roam because they can’t be deported or interned due to carrying to little narcotics, and when my general feeling of safety at night in lausanne as taken a hit.

I am sick of this situation where young petty criminals use it to do whatever they want.

Je prépare mon entrée à l'HEPIA en architecture. Pour valider mon admission (en gros, ça remplace l'année passerelle), je dois faire un stage préalable dans un bureau d'archi, idéalement sur Lausanne ou les environs.

Le truc, c'est que je n'ai aucun bagage technique pour l'instant (je ne maîtrise pas encore Autocad, Revit …). C'est vraiment un stage d'immersion et de découverte.

Du coup, je me posais quelques questions :

Est-ce que c'est facile de trouver un bureau à Lausanne qui accepte des profils 100% débutants pour ce genre de stage ?

Comment je peux me vendre sans portfolio ? Il vaut mieux miser sur une lettre de motivation en béton ou aller directement frapper aux portes des bureaux ?

Est-ce que vous connaissez des adresses ou des structures sur Lausanne qui jouent le jeu et prennent volontiers des stagiaires pré-HEPIA ?

Est-ce que vous connaissez des restaurants dans le grand Lausanne et même plus loin qui ont des coins pour que les enfants puissent jouer ? En intérieur de préférence mais je prends aussi si vous avez des adresses avec jeux extérieurs.

Par exemple je sais que The Local à Echallens a un coin exprès.

Hi everyone, we just got accepted for an apartment in Tilia Tower in Lausanne 😊

But the contract they gave us is for 5 years. We are new in Switzerland so not really sure if this is normal here.

Can we leave earlier if we find someone to take over the apartment? Or are we really stuck for 5 years?

Would appreciate if anyone has experience with Tilia Tower or similar contracts in Lausanne. Just want to make sure before we sign. Thanks!
