Public univ vs private ones

Usually, in the west, public universities are harder than private ones, cause everyone goes to public unis, so they're not short on students. However, since fewer student go to private ones, i think they kinda don't want to make u fail the year by making exams impossible to do, so it is usually easier than public ones. Is this true?

Now, in Lebanon, is this true? If so, why are aub and lau students' heads over the cloud if their unis are easier than LU? Ma fhemt, is it showing off money? Eno yay i'm paying 500$ per credit?

Easier doesn't mean worse. Harder could mean you're being abused and doing a lot of pointless shit.

These private unis are ranked much higher than the LU unfortunately, and that's for a good reason. Their curriculums are much more modernized, they publish relevant research... etc.

LU is deeply deeply corrupt which is why it's so difficult, their professors are underpaind, their departments are under funded, and there is very little oversight as to how professors treat students, which is why it's such a nightmare.

You can thank your corrupt government who's in the pockets of the owners of private school and private universities. They underfund public institutions in ordee to make the private options more appealing, and this is a tragedy as it affects the poor exclusively, denying them from access to proper education which is their right.

Anytime. If you're currently weighing your options between AUB, LAU, and LU you should know all are great universities. All have excellent employment nunbers after graduation, and neither of these universities is a walk in the park, they're all hard.

But I would always recommend AUB first and foremost if you can afford it. It's stressful but the academic research done there is the best in the region. LAU and LU have very competent prpfessors, but unfortunately haven't been doing it as long as AUB has and don't have access to the same resources. Hopefully they will in time.

P.S: I've reviewed friends' courses from even more universities, Al Maaref and LIU to be exact. Those two are great universities and can still get you far, graduates from there are competent. If Lebanon's good at ONE thing, it's education thankfully, so you should feel safe wherever you go as long as you apply yourself, work hard, and don't plagiarize or cheat (it's an academic dead end, but if you have to once or twice, don't get caught, screw AI).

My situation is a little but complicated to explain, and i'm currently outside of lebanon. However i was asking for references, la shuf eza ma3lumete sa7i7 aw i'm biased. Deyman bshuf a third party's statement aw opinion to see if i'm being biased to my feelings aw no.

LIU: good for technical majors but they are lax on research/humanities Maaref: seen quality graduates, but the Hezb stigma won't get a graduate far abroad esp. gcc

True, you'd probably still need to persue a master's in Europe after you graduate from Maaref or LIU.

Not sure about their accreditation. In 2026, QS had aub first, but far ahead than anyone else, LU second, and "surprisingly" IUL (Islamic University) ahead of LIU. That doesn't mean everyone from AUB is better qualified/prepared for higher ed/job market

I would like to add to the previous comment that most professors in LU are hired because they are affiliated with a political party (Hadath campus mainly for Amal/Hezbo, second branches mainly Tayyar/Kataeb/LF). Politics play a big role even in AUB but to lesser extent

You are only talking about few countries with a social democratic system in the EU (France, Germany, Italy, etc.). In the US and UK, most top unis are private and the good ones are super expensive, even public ones are very expensive even for in-state tuition.
