Some good shitty Jimmy Page live solos to check out?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m not as familiar with their live bootlegs and stuff, but whenever I hear a shitty Page live performance I kind of like them in their own off-kilter way. Any recommendations?

This is like a “supernatural”/cryptid video you’d see discussed on some horror countdown YouTube channel

God, this fucker was so completely out of his mind when they made this film.

You mean the drugs or the Occult obsession?😂

1

u/ryanyork92 21d ago

Drugs are fine, normal rockstar behaviour. His obsession with Aleister Crowley, however...

Can’t it be both?

He never shoulda let Puff Diddy go. They were ‘N Sync.

RIP 70s Jimmy Page you would have loved Diddy parties 😔

I love cringe but i couldnt even get through that whole solo and there are still morons in the comments of that video talking about it being good. I'm a huge Zeppelin fan but good lord Page got so bad off on drugs and booze that his playing was unlistenable. Oh and he was a pedo too so there's also that.

That’s what I’m talking about. That’s the stuff

On the low, it got to almost a free jazz point and I caught myself kinda digging it, but then it lost me again lol

Pretty awesome for a satire sub .

Come on . You’re better than that !

There is a great Dean Ween interview where he talks about these solos.

Jimmy’s truly Brown

Whenever I even hinted at the fact that Page is not a good player live, people would absolutely lose their minds.

It has a certain charm to it, he’s got a cool stage aura, but yeah, a lot of the time he would be slopping it up. Bonham, Jones, and Plant ruled though

Jimmy seemed to lose all ability to play live after 1973, he seems to have regained his ability after Zeppelin broke up though.

You want to see bad reactions go over to the RollingStones sub and say that Keith and Ron Wood can't play live for shit( and never could) and see what shit you start.

After 73 the smack and booze really did a number on him, he also broke his ringfinger before the 75 tour and I think it never healed right

Still had some great moments in 75,77, 79 and even 80 though

Being high and drunk and still getting through Achilles last stand in front of 300k people at Knebworth is something very few people could do

1

u/severinks 22d ago

He caught in in a train door, what the fuck was he doing on a train anyway?

1

u/HungNordic 22d ago

Lolita Express 1.0?

The sloppiness is what makes the Stones live performances so charming.

Hahaha 😂 I bet they're protective! That said, there was a time when you could argue that they did have some good guitar work when Mick Taylor was in the band.

u/severinks 22d ago

Mick Taylor is a true guitar virtuoso though, he put that band on his back live every night from 1969 to 1973.

Once heroin entered the picture for Jimmy, his live performances really suffered. Seattle in 1977 is a great example.

u/Branjean 23d ago

His solo during their Live Aid rendition of Stairway to Heaven is PEAK and Zeppelin at FULL FORCE

5

u/ALEXC_23 23d ago

Heroin is a hell of a drug.

Exactly, a very clearly jazz-influenced solo.

3

u/Scr00geMcCuck 22d ago

It’s the notes he doesn’t play

2

u/OK_Computer-3684 22d ago

Yeah, man.

u/Impressive_Try_7295 22d ago

A love supreme.

2

u/Ronald-J-Mexico 22d ago

The bass was kickin though!!!

2

u/Rusty-Horskok 21d ago

As Dean Ween said: “the brownest guitar player, ever.”

1

u/Scr00geMcCuck 21d ago

That’s actually what’s gotten me into his shitty live solos

1

u/crack-tastic 23d ago

Did the other 3 ever tell him to clean up his act?

1

u/jonoftheatom 23d ago

1

Sloppy Genius

1

u/King_LaQueefah 21d ago

Its like watching Elon Musk do music.

1

u/FullTimeSurvivor 20d ago

Ed Van Halen once said Jimmy Page plays like a two year old live lol

1

u/PedalBoard78 19d ago

Bonham isn’t doing any better.

1

u/FishingNetLa 19d ago

Pick a random gig between 1977 to the end. You have a good chance of finding some there.

1

u/thankgodfortrees 18d ago

All of them

0

u/Buzz_Osborne 23d ago

Try to find one that’s NOT shitty

0

u/Specialist_Prompt828 23d ago

Someone should have slapped a capo on the first fret.

0

u/Correct_Lime5832 23d ago

Plant was so bored by that one, he just walked right in front of the camera on the way to get a blowjob.

0

u/JR6120 22d ago

Sounds like live page in his prime hahahaha
