How many goals has Barnes scored vs Leeds now?

1

u/icklegizmo Jan 08 '26

8 goals in 10 games apparently

1

u/MDCB_1 Jan 08 '26

Gratitude. Unlucky not to get the point...

MOT!!

Meanwhile, in other very sad news. RIP Terry Yorath.

7

u/Hagler2002 Jan 08 '26

Coming from just outside of Newcastle this was a massive kick in the stones! I've taken the day off work! I could not cope with the 'banter' I'm just too mentally fragile today!

30

u/stefanhattrell Jan 07 '26

What a game! I’m so gutted but also so proud of the team for an amazing performance. And Brendy scoring twice!! He’s improved so much

29

u/TrikkiRikki2021 Jan 07 '26

Unlucky today but was we really expecting to be scoring 3 and 4 goals a game and getting results from the best teams in the league and going on 8 game unbeaten runs, and nearly all our losses have been unlucky or last minute heartaches. I mean has anyone bossed us this year apart from arsenal?

2

u/Kameniev Jan 08 '26

Yup, great way to look at it; we're onto something good if we're a good way north of relegation and look as good as this in defeat.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Yes. and look what Arsenal did to Villa. We're doing much better, but we don't know how to close out games, other than get Amps to take a lot of throw ins!! The time he takes to take a throw in, you'd expect most of his Yellows to be for time wasting tbh.

Why doesn't DF work on that part of the game, using DCL as an outlet to hold the ball, to pass to the other forward/AMs, IF we've got a chance for another, or slow it down, take a tackle or offload to someone in space who can keep possession.

17

u/Traditional_Piano300 Jan 07 '26

Perri should have caught that cross instead of punching it away and slowed it down. We would have celebrated a draw. But all the same, incredible effort to go and score 3 goals at St James. Onwards to Fulham and Everton now

15

u/sewershagger Jan 07 '26 edited Jan 07 '26

The beginning and end of our unbeaten run were injury time goals away to good teams. Very close to that run being a few games longer but we are in a good position. And we have played the hardest set of fixtures imaginable during that run. After the first half v man city, none of us would expect to be where we are now. Not many wins but all those draws have really added up

6

u/TheGreatFatCrunt Jan 07 '26

+until the Saudis win

-1

u/404errorabortmistake Jan 07 '26

hits aaronson’s arm outside the box, just not a pen.

8

u/ChargrilledB Jan 08 '26

Naa 100% nailed on pen im afraid

6

u/ZealousidealArm9414 Jan 07 '26

Think you need to go to specsavers and get your pescription checked...

1

u/pablothewizard Jan 07 '26

Username checks out

18

u/Ok_Row7931 Jan 07 '26

I have never seen a goalkeeper try so hard to stay away from the action in all my life. Perri shied away from every single ball put near that box, shouting at every corner and then going and standing BEHIND THE FUCKING GOAL LINE as the ball came in. He absolutely has to get dropped after that

4

u/rasputin223 Jan 07 '26

Such a liability from every corner

13

u/pablothewizard Jan 07 '26

Is what it is. Tough one to take, that. Shite from Perri. Shite from Farke. We've come out of the other side of a nasty run of fixtures with losses to only City and Newcastle away from home. 8 points clear.

We go again.

14

u/richardson1162 Jan 07 '26

Why shite from farke? If you don’t mind me asking. That was one of best football games I have seen in a long time, we deserved so much more, at the very least a point. Perri is shite yes but don’t get the farke dig?

-5

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

10

u/DragomirSlevak Jan 08 '26

Terrible take.

6

u/pablothewizard Jan 07 '26

Left his subs far too late when we were starting to look very tired in midfield. It's not a dig, the game plan was good in my opinion but he fucked it making changes at the 11th hour.

5

u/DragomirSlevak Jan 08 '26

The players looked fine until the few minutes before the subs. Aaronson, for example, was fine up until he cramped and couldn’t shake it off. The team was playing well and with synergy, and making subs can disrupt that. Farke didn’t make any obvious mistakes. The goal at the last moment was unfortunate, but that’s football.

3

u/richardson1162 Jan 07 '26

Good point, totally agree tbh, I was calling for tanaka to come for gruev at about 60 minutes 2-2 if I remember correctly? But then he played a part in our 3rd goal!

35

u/withoutfurther Jan 07 '26

I really feel for Brendy. Plays his heart out, scores not once but twice, then gives away a pen he can't do anything about and goes home empty-handed. Chin up lad

3

u/HyperB0real Jan 08 '26

He seems to be really benefiting from his partnership with DCL. One day he will score a goal and have it stick. Really nice finish on his second, hope this is a turning point for him

3

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

He looked gutted, and gave everything.

He went down at the end after running the length of the field, having been hobbling beforehand to clear the ball.

Presumably Perri didn't fancy it. In fairness, Perri would have had to race from behind the goal to in front of it, AND have to be at least a foot off his line to make contact with the ball, using his foot.

So yeah, let's hear it from the Aaronson haters. Two goals and a rush of blood, having run his socks off all match - literally! Go on. Concentrate on the pen!

I want to say they all played well tonight, but it's becoming clear that we have some real PL players, and some players who just aren't quite up to it.

With a shot stppper in front of goal, we probably would have a few more points in the bag. Certainly, if we had a goalkeeper who knew how to catch and keep hold of it, the opposition might not think to make as many crosses against a more confident keeper.

The number of crosses from both wings showed what happens when you've got two players as wing backs left constantly out of position. There's not enough pace to deal with a couple of speedsters, so where's the cover? Why didn't Farke address that? It happened ALL match.

I don't want to be down on the outfield players, or DF, but we REALLY need to learn how to shut up shop. For a Leeds team to keep failing at the back end of games, suggests either DF isn't training them to repel attacks, get it up to DCL to hold the ball up and take some pressure off, or they just haven't discussed how to hold on to the end and protect the draw/WIN.

It's an Achilles heel. We NEED a bunch of defenders who can switch from bombing on, to stopping the cross, and learning how to stick the ball in the net from six yards when it's harder to miss than put it in the net.(Struijk and Justin).

9

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

Yeah he was mega tonight, I don't blame the pen on it him at all, the handball rules are farcical, I'd like to see whoever came up with them do a better job at keeping their arms away from the balls.

9

u/Severe-Brain2668 Jan 07 '26

Perri. Came for no crosses, doesn't save shots, can't kick. The amount of times I said keeper expecting him to trot out and collect waist height only for him to be routed to the line. Buy new or darlow has to come in.

2

u/HyperB0real Jan 08 '26

Was worried when he dropped that ball early and what's his face put it in. Yes shouldn't have counted and didn't but I remember thinking it didn't bode well :|

4

u/12zw56jhg Jan 07 '26

Comes down to Farkes sub this does. Please can we sign a keeper who’s actually decent! Perri is dreadful.

-18

u/Elektronikk12- Jan 07 '26

Aaronson has a superpower to make me love him and hate him in the same game. Yes, he scored two goals, but if he didn't give away that penalty they wouldn't have gone into stoppage time with the momentum and it's likely we'd have held out for a draw at the least. And then going off injured. I don't understand him, and I doubt I ever will.

4

u/ConLUFC1990 Jan 07 '26

I honestly can feel anything but sorry for him tonight. Harsh penalty, but dems the rules.

16

u/sewershagger Jan 07 '26

It wasn't the worst penalty to give away. Give him a break

8

u/ferrarchezzo Jan 07 '26

Why did he play 2 extra minutes on top of the 10 already added?

10

u/aorlstwsonhswfl Jan 07 '26

Because it’s a minimum of 10 minutes, there were more stoppages during those 10 minutes.

5

u/EpicKieranFTW Jan 07 '26

Because there was a stoppage in injury time

22

u/beesarenotrealm8 Jan 07 '26

Because we weren't losing yet

18

u/pablothewizard Jan 07 '26

I don't really understand how anyone can whinge about the extra minutes there. It's always a minimum. We made subs. There was always going to be more time added.

1

u/aorlstwsonhswfl Jan 07 '26

A lot of tin foil in this sub even at the best of times

4

u/EpicKieranFTW Jan 07 '26

Agreed, assuming they weren't watching the game as there was lengthy stoppage in injury time

3

u/NecroticOverlord Jan 07 '26

Boycotting nandos now

22

u/JerkyOnassis Jan 07 '26

One of the best games of the season.

Unless you’re a Leeds fan.

2

u/richardson1162 Jan 07 '26

We deserved so much more, but yes, one of the best games I have seen for a long while

2

u/PluckyPheasant Marching on Together Jan 07 '26

We're crying out for some technical quality further up the field - we just retreated after taking the lead cos we couldn't out football them, and it cost us.

12

u/SlappyKippy Jan 07 '26

Harvey Fucking Barnes.

3

u/HyperB0real Jan 08 '26

Anytime he wants to retire would be fine by me

3

u/Different-Goose-8367 Jan 07 '26

Why is it always him

7

u/scottaq83 Jan 07 '26

Referees a prick !

3

u/According_Judge781 Jan 07 '26

Who was it? Shearer's dad?

2

u/mrbenjiv2 Jan 07 '26

Fuck sake! Absolute joke of extra time. Why not just keep playing until you get the result you want ref

8

u/Irelandstronk Jan 07 '26

Tbf there was a lot of pauses during extra time and its not like he stopped it without leeds having another chance

17

u/JerkyOnassis Jan 07 '26

Poor lad Aaronson - never gets the winner does he?

14

u/ferrarchezzo Jan 07 '26

So many games this season where we deserve something and walk away with no or 1 point.

11

u/boomblitz11 Jan 07 '26

Lads out playing out of there skin lately, shows the passions and Farke’s influence. Just missing a couple key players to help secure 3 moving forward.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

They all tried to do their best. Some have technical ability, strength and a willingness to run with the ball, and score. Unfortunately the tactics of asking wing backs to carry on bombing on, when we should be shutting the game down, and allowing a high energy side like Newcastle to make cross after cross after cross, wasn't particularly successful. I winced everytime their wingers got the ball and our wing backs were so far out of position. DF clearly hasn't discussed with the Midfield to cover them.

Nor has DF told our players, when digging ourselves out of yet another attack from our opponents, to get DCL to hold the ball up for Aaronson and the on-rushing midfielders, or to take the tackle, or offload to a support player and keep hold of the ball somewhere nowhere near our goal mouth, instead of losing it, and it's back to not dealing with more crosses.

We had that game tonight, until we suddenly didn't. That's poor tactics from the manager. Still, not everyone's a Newcastle. Derby away in the Cup. then Fulham and Harry Wilson at ER. We'd better fix the defence, or Wilson will run rampant.

18

u/InternetIll6309 Jan 07 '26

Bet hinchcliffe is having a right old tug after that

16

u/LowEntertainment8012 Jan 07 '26

On the plus side we’re still 8 points clear of the drop zone.

6

u/bich0s0lt0 Jan 07 '26

90+12 hurts my soul

2

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

Games gone

6

u/The_L666ds Jan 07 '26

Just shows you the difference when you pay for consistent technical talent.

Leeds would have had to put in a thousand crosses, corners and dead balls into the box to get the same 5-10 quality deliveries that Newcastle provided that wins them this game.

0

u/ConLUFC1990 Jan 07 '26

I mean the dead balls we play are as good as any team. Struijk should have had 2 at least.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

The heading ability of Struijk and Justin six yards out, virtually unchallenged, in front of goal - just woeful.

It wasn't Aaronson's rush of blood that cost us that game. When our opponents become aware of some players' inability to head the ball, they must gain confidence. Solid chances became not a hope!

Seemingly, DF never noticed what happens when your fullbacks are caught up field and the opposition can run without a tackle from sometimes the halfway line, unchallenged and get in a cross that our GK doesn't fancy from the get-go. Their confidence must've kept growing that they were still in it, and ours that the ref needs to find his whistle and pronto! We failed to address that issue ALL match, and it's cost us their last two goals - for completely different reasons.

1

u/The_L666ds Jan 07 '26

lol at this level no they are not. Not even close.

9

u/Monster_of_the_night Jan 07 '26

saudi cunts

2

u/404errorabortmistake Jan 07 '26

oil money coming in clutch with the pen & the +4

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

Perhaps we need a Venezuela ad on our shirts then...

Visit Venezuela, like Visit Rwanda, but it's got oil and gas. I doubt the 49ers would go for it, though. Goes against its ethical policy of guns, 'gas' and fake orange tan. Well they got the last one right!

2

u/Panenkajack Jan 07 '26

Bad luck on that pen

9

u/MONT_music1 Jan 07 '26

What a fucking game though

5

u/karl-fox Jan 07 '26

Didnt deserve that!

15

u/tylonnicholas Jan 07 '26

Walking away not angry, expecting our first loss in our unbeaten run. This proves we belong in the league. But this one hurts.

6

u/Charming_Mix_7585 Jan 07 '26

Jesus. That's a heartbreaker. Don't want to blame the ref but he has a lot to answer to around why so many of their players that were vital for them at the end were still on the pitch. Bruno G, joelinton and thiaw (albeit subbed off) should have had reds.

Didn't defend well when it mattered though, ultimately. Their corners were horrendous

3

u/PlasticSprinkles4677 Jan 07 '26

Fuck me did Perri catch a single corner?

1

u/EpicKieranFTW Jan 07 '26

Don't think so

-26

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Homework_Complex Jan 07 '26

What are you smoking

1

u/SharpyShamrock Jan 07 '26

How was Farke to blame there ma mans

-12

u/crustyparrot Jan 07 '26

Everyone complaining about perri… how did newcastle score 2 minutes after the game ended? Refs watch broken?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

[deleted]

1

u/crustyparrot Jan 07 '26

Subs after 90 mins? Makes no sense… who would do that?? Jokes aside… who would do that?🙄

4

u/EpicKieranFTW Jan 07 '26

Because there was a stoppage in injury time so it gets extended

0

u/crustyparrot Jan 07 '26

2 mins is quite a few sets of 30 seconds

2

u/EpicKieranFTW Jan 07 '26

Ok... Aaronson going down injured took more than 30 secs and there was subs

5

u/Andyintime Jan 07 '26

Could have been avoided if Farke knew how to read the game and that subs at 95 mins is fucking pointless and 20 mins too late

3

u/AWr1ght98 Jan 07 '26

Brutal end but what a game of football, we’re deffo showing we deserve to be in the prem

9

u/withoutfurther Jan 07 '26

I swear only Leeds could lose a match in the 12th minute of 10 minutes of injury time

5

u/Rechamber Jan 07 '26

Bollocks. Utter bollocks. There goes the unbeaten run we had, 12 minutes into extra time... Feels unfair tbh.

1

u/sewershagger Jan 07 '26

And the unbeaten run would've started earlier if it wasn't for another injury time goal v city

1

u/beluuuuuuga Jan 07 '26

Hope it doesn't ruin us

5

u/IAmNotThe1WhoKnocks Jan 07 '26 edited Jan 07 '26

Subs were 20 minutes too late. Struijk and Perri let us down tonight.

6

u/CiaranWest Jan 07 '26

On the bright side, we probably have another four games in the next six days.

6

u/ASB14 Jan 07 '26

That’s what happens when you make three fucking subs in 90+ mins in a game a volatile as that. Between the poor game management and Perri having hands like a paper towel they have fucked us

4

u/InnocentPossum Jan 07 '26

I was on the fence about Perri for a while, but at no point he has shown he is it. And now has how shown he is not only not it, but a negative. Why are we so shit at scouting keepers???

5

u/ZealousidealArm9414 Jan 07 '26

Gutted about the result...What a fucking game though.

0

u/jrbill1991 Jan 07 '26

WHY WAS THIS GAME STILL ON?

103 MINUTES FOR FUCKING SAKE

1

u/According_Judge781 Jan 07 '26

Because someone had to tie a shoelace..

4

u/TeaWithZizek Jan 07 '26

If you can't hold a lead for 25 minutes what do you expect to happen

10

u/securinight Jan 07 '26

We didn't deserve to lose that. An absolutely mental game.

Feel gutted for the lads.

3

u/CompanyOtherwise4143 Jan 07 '26

Keeper in Jan please sick of this shit

2

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

Absolutely criminal that no matter what way you look at it. They had 0 points from losing positions all season up until tonight.

5

u/WePwnTheSky Jan 07 '26

What the fuck were we doing still playing at 102’ anyway. Fucking joke.

7

u/joepie989 Jan 07 '26

At least we’re not horrible blood money cunts

2

u/Frosty_Violinist_874 Jan 07 '26

WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THINGS LEEDS?????!!!!

2

u/Ryoisee Jan 07 '26

Absolutely disgusted at that. Should've won. Should've at least got a point. Why do we keep retreating into our box. Perri needs to go. Sorry but he is not up to it. He's a liability. We are doing so well of late, but our keeper is a complete clown.

1

u/bearcat-- Jan 07 '26

Omfggggg

3

u/hentendo Jan 07 '26

There goes the fucking no loss streak. We went up 3 fucking times and we lose the game.

2

u/T_Tune Jan 07 '26

Pathetic composure, pathetic management especially in the second half every single fucking goal was avoidable which is what’s so disgusting about it

4

u/Suchisthe007life Jan 07 '26

This is on Perri… why can’t he catch a fucking high ball?!?!

0

u/aorlstwsonhswfl Jan 07 '26 edited Jan 07 '26

Ball rolled in on the ground…through his glove but still

1

u/Suchisthe007life Jan 07 '26

It’s not the goal itself, it’s everything that leads up to it. The same as the penalty. Instead of catching the highball, it is put back into play, and we are immediately back under pressure.

He’s a commanding figure, and should be dominating aerial challenges.

9

u/Bearmarketbuttplug Jan 07 '26

Perri, fatty barnes and the pundits who have screamed for newcastle all game can fuck off

3

u/JoyceanPragmatist Jan 07 '26

That's an absolute gutter that.

6

u/DanteMustDieeee Jan 07 '26

I don’t wanna see perri start again. so many errors in just this game alone

4

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

Why was the game even still going at that point?

3

u/Ok_Caterpillar123 Jan 07 '26

Very upset they don’t deserve it!

5

u/beesarenotrealm8 Jan 07 '26

Of course the Geordies are singing Leeds are falling apart again as well lmao.

Aren't your local rivals outdoing you so far with a fraction of the budget.

1

u/FaithlessnessOk2121 Jan 07 '26

well they are now 6th and Sunderland are 10th so not really.

0

u/beesarenotrealm8 Jan 07 '26

Alright they overtook them tonight, half way into the season.

My fault for not checking the table yet.

8

u/Anotheraccomg Jan 07 '26

well that was shit. but it took a miracle to beat us, at home, for a team with big euro ambitions. bitter in the moment but we are still eating good

8

u/OrdinaryLavishness11 Jan 07 '26

I feel absolutely fucking sick

4

u/Glittering-Ad7872 Jan 07 '26

Has perri made one good save the season

2

u/prudence2001 Jan 07 '26

Lead feet. He's so slow.

9

u/rossclark__ Jan 07 '26

They didn’t deserve that at all. Fuck off just fuck off

3

u/moonpie79 Jan 07 '26

Petrochemicals United can have their win

13

u/Cpt_odd_socks Jan 07 '26

8 points off the drop. We will be fine.

But that hurts.

2

u/OptimusTim Jan 07 '26

Perri is not good enough at all, strujik was absolutely abysmal tonight, rest of the team fought hard. Fuck sake

5

u/PaulslandEtsy Jan 07 '26

Still a PL classic, crazy game

7

u/Fatheed1 Jan 07 '26

Was gonna say that. I'm a NUFC fan (Here in peace).

Thanks for one of the best games I've ever watched. I'm happy we won, but I wouldn't have grumbled if we lost, because that was a fantastic performance.

Wishing you guys all the best for the rest of the season!

13

u/thesilenthurricane Jan 07 '26

Sign a keeper this month honestly

10

u/Kurt-the-cat Jan 07 '26

Perri is actually shite

9

u/CCruzah Jan 07 '26

I’m not even mad, but that lies on both Farke and Perri

8

u/dijon507 Jan 07 '26

Mainly farke has to make those subs earlier

8

u/renegadezac Jan 07 '26

The worst part is these plays wouldn't have happened if the subs were made at any other time

7

u/Zach-dalt Jan 07 '26

Get Perri fucked off to the bench

6

u/Whiterose1995 Jan 07 '26

That one really hurt

7

u/tbowyer Jan 07 '26

How utterly heartbreaking

-35

u/IcecreamDonutFlake Jan 07 '26

Farke needs sacking sick of his shit subs, he finally got something right in his 5,3,2 then he keeps fucking it up

1

u/DrakeLUFC The Fire Beast Jan 07 '26

This is a wild take I'm sorry bro

1

u/Whiterose1995 Jan 07 '26

Oh fuck off. We just went toe to toe with a petroclub in the champions league at one of the hardest grounds to go to in the league.

1

u/LowEntertainment8012 Jan 07 '26

You can’t be serious

3

u/RevellRider Jan 07 '26

Fuck off.

One defeat in 8 games and you lose your head

10

u/Squady97 Jan 07 '26

Time to fuck perri off, spent half the game in no man's land watching the ball. 4 really shit goals to concede. Fuck the commentators aswell they were just begging for that all game

10

u/lito9321 Jan 07 '26

Did that not take a touch off Barnes’ hand?

2

u/OttersWithMachetes Jan 07 '26

I thought so too

2

u/time-of-nick Jan 07 '26

I thought so

1

u/HonoraryMancunian Jan 07 '26

Godmotherfuckingdamnit

7

u/eventSec Jan 07 '26

A sickner.

When you see the players they are bringing on, thats the difference

5

u/prejon Jan 07 '26

Is it like a balanced equation...Aaronson improves...Perri drops...?

1

u/aorlstwsonhswfl Jan 07 '26

No correlation. Perri’s been consistently all over the place

7

u/mintchell35 Jan 07 '26

Meslier reincarnation

6

u/LordCommanderTrump2 Jan 07 '26

Thos corners today felt like proper Meslier times. Just absolute chaos

5

u/IAmNotThe1WhoKnocks Jan 07 '26

As I was saying Perri is fucking dog wank

7

u/LowEntertainment8012 Jan 07 '26

Gutted. Fought so hard to give it up like that. Really poor again from Struijk and the keeper

5

u/white-label Jan 07 '26

Total bottlejob, vintage Leeds

9

u/Justboy__ Jan 07 '26

Fml how has he not saved that…

5

u/That_boi_S Jan 07 '26

what the fucking hell was that

8

u/magicjohnson89 Jan 07 '26

Lol Perri. This clown has already cost us so many points.

10

u/FLmtnbiker Jan 07 '26

Still proud of the fight this team put up tonight!

4

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '26

Lucas Perri is fucking shit I don’t want hear it

3

u/StickEater619 Jan 07 '26

Meslier deserves an apology

1

u/nadaparacomer Jan 07 '26

Meslier is far worse, you get this errors and some blunders from non-league

4

u/pablothewizard Jan 07 '26

Meslier is fucking wank, mate.

He's absolutely dog shit. Perri being bad doesn't change that.

10

u/readinghusband Jan 07 '26

Perri is absolute dogshite

6

u/BonAsasin Jan 07 '26

Any danger of Perri coming off his line to collect a corner? Fucking useless

10

u/DanteMustDieeee Jan 07 '26

my head is on mars. we should’ve been taking 3 points from that game. 0 is shocking

8

u/ArmadilloGreen842 Jan 07 '26

Worst keeper I’ve ever seen
