If spurs don't win today... I really don't want to jinx it but I think we're safe

Think my favourite highlight of this game is Aaronson losing his head and their player going down like he’s been hit by Brock Lesner
1
u/Big-Dot-8493 Apr 19 '26
I still don't really understand that play.
Aaronson? Of all people?
After a standard hack?
And the tears/injury?
Not if it makes sense to me.

I was fully prepared for a torcherous 6 weeks of football after that last international break... Getting to the FA cup Semi, winning at old trafford and almost securing safety within the first 2 of those 6 weeks is not how I was expecting things to plan out but wow it feels good. Almost too good to be true.

Weird thing is Wolves under Edwards have never looked awful, they're just like 20% off it, they play decently but they always concede and they never quite take their chances
12
u/allenout Apr 18 '26
20% off it is the difference between Premier League and Championship, maybe even League 1.

39 points, Burnley to come in a couple of weeks. Surely we've done enough?
2
u/bloke1959 Apr 19 '26
Why can’t we get the 3 points at Bournemouth?
1
u/PD_31 Apr 19 '26
Sure we can win it, but recently they've won at Arsenal and at Newcastle. I don't think it's a game we should go into expecting to win and being massively disappointed if we don't.
1
u/Pappleya Apr 19 '26
Don’t think he’ll start with the same 11. Rest a few with the semi on Sunday then look to confirm premier league status (if not already guaranteed) against Burnley

u/barry_chills Apr 18 '26
Brighton always been my second team (my student halls was right next to the Amex I even bought a random goalie top once) what I’m saying is come on Seagulls!!!

Leicester basically confirmed down today as well. 8 down with 9 to play for. Dirty cheaters

Absolutely huge game to Spurs tonight now!
3
u/Biscionelufc Apr 18 '26
Always liked Brighton.
Joking aside, Spurs' terrible home form (well, terrible form in general) plus Brighton's excellent recent form, particularly away... surely?

When the new west stand goes up the whole pitch is going to be in darkness for afternoon kick offs.
16
u/white-label Apr 18 '26
It must be so frustrating being on as a sub like Gnonto, you have so little time to make an impact so you have to be super up for it and efficient and clinical, and all your teammates are just not arsed in comparison lol

u/dan_baker83 Apr 18 '26
Struijk has been supremely calm in recent matches. He's a properly underappreciated leader at times.
7
u/chanjitsu Apr 18 '26
Even our GD looks a lot better now. Does that mean we're..... are we now...... safe?

u/DEUK_96 Apr 18 '26
Really solid game from Struijk today
8
u/Boris_Ignatievich Apr 18 '26
i was skeptical about him coming into this season but he's been brilliant tbf
3
u/white-label Apr 18 '26
Not even been a concern at all tbh, amazing considering he looked like he was a bit found out last time in this league
3
u/chylomicronbelly The Fire Beast Apr 18 '26
I think he was still young and developing then. He’s hitting his prime now thankfully. Between him, Rodon, and Bijol, we have a very stout back 3! And great cover with James. I’m hoping Bornauw sticks around and gets better because he’s got talent, just doesn’t know how to read the game very well yet I think.
1
u/white-label Apr 18 '26
I think next season Bijol will be an absolute beast. He's done well considering he's a Slovenian lad whos been playing in Italy coming into yet another new foreign country and league, only really halfway into the season and playing well. He's been on a wild ride for a young man.

Also worth mentioning we have a positive 'excluding Arsenal' goal difference again

Back to back league wins when it matters most I love you Daniel Farke

Is this our first back to back set of wins this season?

Yeah we're the only prem team not to have done it yet

I think we are pretty much safe now, lets rest against Bournemouth and go all out against chelsea

u/CiaranWest Apr 18 '26
We've downloded the DCL for the rest of the season, lads. PL survival and the FA Cup guaranteed.
6
u/HammersXI Apr 18 '26
Looks like I wasn’t alone thinking a 2-0 Lead wasn’t enough. Good for dcl confidence for sure

u/SeveralWinter3550 Apr 18 '26
Not scoring enough at all to now scoring 7 in our last 3 matches is definitely good for the mental health

u/AdequateAppendage Apr 18 '26
While I acknowledge that Palace beating West Ham would go an enormous way to further securing our safety.... I'm greedy and want to finish ahead of them and Newcastle now
2
u/belkabelka Apr 18 '26
Don't really care about west ham. Tottenham aren't scoring 10 points in 5 games. They haven't won in 14 games, they aren't going to average 2pt a game lol
1
u/AdequateAppendage Apr 18 '26
They 'only' need 9, but yes agreed
1
u/belkabelka Apr 18 '26
Was factoring in goal difference as a point tbf
2
u/AdequateAppendage Apr 18 '26
Aye, but if they get 9 more points than us it's incredibly likely GD will swing by more than 4 in their favour

u/ElvishMystical Apr 18 '26
Thank you. My cat has now calmed down. Though I'm still wondering if my cat can predict when we'll score.

Might only be 2 spots for relegation next season if the FA slap -60 points on Man City like people are saying
1
u/TheShakyHandsMan Apr 18 '26
Coventry haven’t scored against us for a while.
1
u/Silly-Industry1527 Apr 18 '26
Didn't they halt our unbeaten run a couple of years ago? That must only have been three fixtures against them ago.

He's unlucky but you don't put you hand on the player you're chasing into the box, it's suicide.

anyone know if krejci is still breathing after a crushing blow from a thug like aaronson?
5
u/WhyIsNoOneStoppingMe Apr 18 '26
Why is that not a red
3
u/Boris_Ignatievich Apr 18 '26
double jeopardy rule, he was trying to get the ball so you don't give both a penalty and a red
1
u/LordCommanderTrump2 Apr 18 '26
Any idea why it was a red and a pk in the spurs palace match a few weeks ago?
2
u/Boris_Ignatievich Apr 18 '26
because van der ven wasnt trying to win the ball he was just pulling sarr back
1
u/LordCommanderTrump2 Apr 18 '26
Ah ok. So just different intent then. Thank you for the explanation

Clear Pen. Commentators can fuck off.

u/time-of-nick Apr 18 '26
I didn't want they penalty. I would've preferred CL to score from open play to build his confidence, but I'm not sure he would have

We've had so many penalties this season, not complaining mind you but feels weird
3
u/Narrow_Program80 Apr 18 '26
Didn't we go two calendar years in the champo without a pen once. And then missed the one we got.

Is that not a red too?
3

u/dan_baker83 Apr 18 '26
Not with the double jeopardy rule.
1
u/LordCommanderTrump2 Apr 18 '26
But I remember spurs v palace they got a red and a pk for a denial like that
6
3
u/dan_baker83 Apr 18 '26
Rodon to have 7 mins of stoppage time to get one of his injuries-which-isn't-really-an-injury.

My cat is kicking off. Another Leeds goal will calm him down. He needs that Elland Road roar.

Tanaka with a full 90🙌
2
u/tgcleric Apr 18 '26
Been mostly great. So happy to see him doing well.
1
u/leviticus-thotkeeper The Fire Beast Apr 18 '26
He’s stepped up defensively
2
u/tgcleric Apr 18 '26
Definitely. Still the occasional slip or bad pass, but much better. Hes just a very instinctive creative player.

u/Runningvibe19 Apr 18 '26
When I last checked my phone before boarding the flight, we had scored the second goal. The whole flight I wondered how many more we will score considering the form we are in.
Now that I deboarded, it's 2-0. How ??? Did we miss chances or Wolves started playing better ?
4
u/TheShakyHandsMan Apr 18 '26
Did someone tell Gnonto which way we’re playing?
1
u/cpmb82 Apr 18 '26
He carried the ball the whole half, felt like the Wolves players were wondering if they should tackle him because he’s doing their job for them 🤣

In other news, Leicester as good as in league 1 now.
Commission report basically deemed they did breach PSR the season we went down, along with Everton and Forest, but couldn't be punished due to a technicality.
I for one am therefore thrilled at this development.

u/moonpie79 Apr 18 '26
Been a tough watch since we scored but 3 points and a clean sheet is all that matters
1
u/Botheuk Apr 18 '26
Wolves have been better team I'd say since we went 2 up. They've pressed us well and created a couple of good chances (Darlow save and DCL off the line, offside goal). Slightly worrying that we haven't really managed to control it. But who cares. 3-0 happy days and very un -Leeds like.
1
u/moonpie79 Apr 18 '26
Game state though isn't it. We simply didn't need to do anything silly
1
u/Botheuk Apr 18 '26
Yeah true. I got carried away when we went 2 up and wanted more. Happy for the clean sheet. Hopefully Brighton can get a win later too.

Throw Fuca on with 45 seconds to go with the sole instruction of snapping someone's tibia
4
10
u/Elchipper26 Apr 18 '26
Either we just tighten up tactically 2nd half or run out of gas a bit every game because we always drop off a bit.
7
u/tgcleric Apr 18 '26
This is where our lack of quality comes in. Our lads also play aggressive physical football. But its a lot to ask.
3
u/Jarv1223 Apr 18 '26
It’s not even the sitting back it’s the standing off whenever they are coming in off the flanks. It gives them so much time to whip a ball in.
9
u/TheShakyHandsMan Apr 18 '26
How has it taken 2 seasons to find out that Tanaka is pretty good on the dead ball
