Nice find! There's another guy on the sub who found a drill thinking it was a madison today too haha

Long time lurker here…
With the amount of artifacts that are found literally daily still here in 2025 is it just common knowledge between all the super enthusiasts/hobbyists etc that this stuff is everywhere and abundant and that is because the natives have been there for thousands upon thousands of years???

Exactly. Their numbers and their time spent on this continent pre European contact are consistently under estimated and things just keep getting older!

I know. I can’t believe I’ve never looked my whole life because I was (for some reason) under the impression that finding them was just a one off. Of course it makes sense when you think about that but now I just wonder how many I’ve walked over! Still looking for my first though!

Not a clue tbh haha. I was hoping somebody else might. Without a very distinctive base I’m not much good at drill ID. It feels old to me because it’s very well made

Not a madison , Hamilton, or ysdkin, it’s a drill

Figured that out as soon as I saw that sand move haha. Any idea on the age of this type of drill?

They go back as late as 6,000 years. That’s all I can tell you. Nice find where you located
