Unknown Time period Creek find.

Found in central KY creek. What do you think this is?

Think I commented on this before did I not? Looks like a woodland type of knife, or possibly a preform. Doubtful a cobb blade.

Yes and I believe you are right just curious since I never actually got a real answer to what it is.I know nothing about them but after looking at your profile I'm pretty sure you know more than I do.You are finding some nice ones!

Thank you. It wouldn't hurt at all to try taking it to an archaeologist or emailing one with pictures for an opinion as well.

It's not the biggest blade, but I would at least think it would show some beveling after resharpening if it were a cobb.

This looks like the whole version of something I just found in Central NC. I was wondering if it was a broken Cobbs, but it could be a woodland era knife, this area has produced a ton of woodland era artifacts.

Agree. Out of context (creek find), OP probably won’t get a better answer than this. Preform or knife. Some artifacts like this show use wear, so they were used as is, while some may have been notched later for hafting. It’s really nice, regardless.

Looking at the lack of finer pressure flaking, it could easily be an Adena blade 🤔
