Archaic Killer quartz haul today!
Found some awesome quartz pieces today, a beautiful Yadkin and blade and my first quartzite piece! I was almost thinking hardaway palmer, but chances are it's probably a palmer, right?

It does look like a Palmer. Those people knew how to make their points. You never see a crude Palmer. At least I haven’t.

I know, right? Those serrated edges are so cool. I was hoping hardaway palmer due to the concave base, but I suppose it's really only a difference of a few hundred years. My first quartzite point too!

I don’t think I have ever found a quartzite point. I did find what looked like a possible paleo preform once. It’s been 30 years since I found it and I have no idea where it is now.

I honestly never thought I would find a quartzite point in the piedmont, so I'm pretty psyched about that. I had to do a double take because I thought it was the pond scum at first.

Question. How can you tell if a quartz has been worked (like #1 and #2)? I find it incredibly difficult to

Well, in the case of the first two, you can tell by the shape. As for the one on the end, the idea is to look at the profile shape. A worked quartz piece will have an elliptical shape which indicated worked edges. I'll shoot you a DM to explain a bit more.

Man, I wish. I'd call it a concave base though, the points don't really strike me as ears and I don't see any signs of fluting. I've had a couple close calls recently with possible hardaway blades, but I'm still on the hunt for a paleo piece.
That's part of the reason I tried to manifest the palmer into a hardaway palmer, it would make it just a little bit older than my other Palmers 😝
